4 1 GENERAL 1.1 System overview Trident is a device for on-site monitoring of fuel tanks. Trident gathers data from Labko 3000/3000 LPG or LabkoMax/LabkoFlex-series probes. Trident communicates with probes via Labko ILS protocol and displays realtime measurement data (tank level, volume, temperature and condensate water information). Different kind of alarm limits can be set for the measurements. All measurements and alarms are logged into a database, which allows extensive reporting. A system overview is presented in figure Features Figure 1. 5 2 INSTALLATION 2.1 Connections The connections of Trident is shown in next figure: Figure 2. The connections of Trident Copyright 2017 Labkotec Oy 5/34

6 2.2 Startup Trident is started by connecting 12V power supply delivered in package to power supply connector. When Trident opens up for the first time, it starts into touch screen calibration display (figure 3). The touch screen is calibrated by touching the display in five places indicated by crosshair with stylus pen or finger. After this Basic settingsdisplay is shown (figure 4). Trident has two language options: English and Finnish. Select the appropriate language from Language-dropdown menu. After this the other settings needed by Trident can be made (see chapter 3. SETTINGS) Beyond the first program start-up, the software opens up in the Main view (figure 5) (see chapter 4. MONITORING VIEWS) and the operating language is the earlier selected language. Figure 3. 8 3 SETTINGS 3.1 Setting up Program settings are done in the Settings tab, which opens by clicking Settings button. There are seven Settings tabs: Tank settings, Leak detection settings, Basic settings, Communication settings, FTP-transfer settings, Data saving and Updates. Basic settings tab is also the opening view when Trident is started for the first time. Doing settings in Basic settings tab is described in page 13. When the settings are done in tab, by pushing Apply button in the lower right corner the given settings are applied. By pushing Ok button the settings are applied and Trident changes to Main view. When Trident returns to Main view probe inquiries are started. Beyond the first start up the probe inquiries are automatically started with the given settings. If you want to change the tank settings later, push Settings button. Trident stops the probe inquiries when the settings are being done and starts the inquiries again, when the changes are done and returned to Main view. 3.2 Tank settings (1/7) Select first the number of the tanks and the unit to be monitored from the drop down list. There can be 1 16 tanks selected and the unit can be litre or cubic. Then set the detailed configuration of each tank by clicking the tank button (figure 6). Figure 6. 9 Figure 7. Tank identification settings Do the tank settings in the following order in the Tank iidentification settings-tab (1/3): 1. Tank name. Write the desired tank name to this field. The tank name identifies the tank in the main view, in the detailed tank view and in the reports. Give an individual name to every tank. As a default Trident gives the name Tank 1, where the number 1 is the number of the edited tank. For clarity it is advisable to add e.g. the fuel quality after the default text. For example: Tank 1 95E. 2. Tank serial number. Set the serial number of the tank to this field if known. Not an obligatory field. 3. Probe number. Set the probe number to this field. The probe number is usually 1 for the tank 1, 2 for the tank 2 and so on. The software uses this number to communicate with the probe via Labko ILS protocol. 4. Probe serial number. Set the serial number of the probe to this field if known. Not an obligatory field. 5. Total volume. Set the total volume of the tank in liters. The value is shown in the detailed tank view and used when calculating the ullage value for the tank. 6. Tank diameter. Set the diameter of the tank in millimetres. This is shown in the detailed tank view. 7. Temperature coefficient. Set the temperature coefficient of the fuel stored in this tank. This coefficient is used to calculate the temperature compensated volume (the volume at the temperature of +15 C). Save the settings by clicking the lower right corners Apply -button in order to store the settings into Trident. Then go using arrow button (upper right corner) to next tank settings tab. 10 Do the tank settings in the following order in the Limits settings tab (2/3): Figure 8. Tank limits settings 1. High level alarm. Set the value in liters. An alarm is raised when this value is exceeded. 2. Low level alarm. Set the value in liters. An alarm is raised when the measured level goes below this value. 3. Water level alarm. Set the value in millimeters. An alarm is raised when this value is exceeded. 4. Order level. Set the value in liters. An alarm is raised when the measured level goes below this value. 5. Leak alarm. Set the value in liters. An alarm is raised when this value is exceeded. The value is unique for one day, i.e. earlier leak amounts are automatically erased in the beginning of the next leak monitoring cycle. Save the settings by clicking the lower right corners Apply -button in order to store the settings into Trident. Then go using arrow button (upper right corner) to next tank settings tab. 12 3.3 Leak detection settings (2/7) The leak detection settings of the tanks are done in the Leak detection settings window (figure 5) that is accessed by clicking the upper right corners right arrow in the Tank settings window. Remember always to save the settings by clicking the lower right corners Apply - button. Return to Main view by clicking the Ok -button. Earlier leak alarms are automatically erased in the beginning of the next leak monitoring cycle, but the alarms can also be deleted by clicking the Delete leak alarms -button. Erase the alarms when the leak detection monitoring cycle is not on. The amount of leakage that generates an alarm is set for each tank in the related tank settings (see page 9). NOTE. Leak alarm is measured from the absolute change in product volume. Any refueling is considered as a leakage when the leak monitoring is on. Figure 10. Leak detection settings Leak detection can be configured to be on: 1. Once. The leak detection is on for the selected day. Select the date by pushing date field right to Once selection. The daily monitoring hours can be configured by setting the start time to the Start time field in the right and the end time to the End time field below it. If the start time is greater than the end time then the leak detection stops at the following day. 2. Every day. The leak detection is on for a selected monitoring hours every day. Set the start and end times as above. 3. Period. The leak detection is on for the selected dates and monitoring hours. Select the start date by pushing date field right to Period selection and the end date by pushing date field next to it. See the start and end time setting from above. The leak detection can be set on for each tank by clicking Edit button. The above settings are common for each tank, which detection is set on. Copyright 2017 Labkotec Oy 12/34

13 3.4 Basic settings (3/7) Figure 11. Basic settings Basic settings are: 1. Language. Select the operation language from the drop down list. Languages available are English and Finnish. 2. Station name. This field is shown in the main bar in Main view and in the reports. The station name is freely selectable. 3. Audible alarm. When an alarm rises Trident can also make an audible alarm. The audible alarm is on until the user acknowledges the alarm. 4. Data logging. Trident logs the measurement data to a database. These data can be monitored in the history trend of detailed tank view (see chapter 4.). Data logging frequency can be selected from the drop down list (alternatives 1, 2, 6 and 12 hours). The data is stored into the database always approximately on the hour. Trident logs also the tank data every day at 23:59 as well as levels, volumes and temperature in the beginning and in the end of a stock delivery. 5. Data saving time. Trident stores the measurement data in database for the time defined in this setting. Alternatives are: Not in use, 3, 6, 12, 24 and 36 month. If Not in use-selection is selected, Trident stores the measurement data in database so long as there is free memory in the memory card. When the memory overflows, Trident starts to remove the oldest data one week at a time. 6. Screensaver time. The screen saving time can be selected in this selection. The alternatives are: 5, 10, 15 and 20 minutes. 7. Screen brightness. Screen brightness can be adjusted between %. 8. Date. By pushing date field opens Date setting window. Set day, month and year. 9. Time. By pushing time field opens Time setting window. Set hour, minute and second. Copyright 2017 Labkotec Oy 13/34

14 3.5 Communication settings (4/7) Figure 12. Communication settings Communication settings are: 1. POS/BOS -port speed. Set the POS port communication speed (2400, 4800 or 9600 baud) to meet the setting in POS device connected to POSport. Check the communication speed from the POS manual. The port functionality can be tested by Test button. If the POS device is connected to POS port and it is sending queries in correct speed, the green indicator is set. If the indicator is red, check the settings above. 2. Sensor port speed. Set the sensor port communication speed (2400, 4800 or 9600 baud) to meet the probes settings. Check the communication speed from the probe manual. The port functionality can be tested by Test button. If Trident is connected via MPS-4 to probes and the correct speed is selected in MPS-4, the green indicator is set. If the indicator is red, check the settings above. 3. IP-address type. Alternatives are Static or Dynamic. Static IP-address is set using below settings. Dynamic settings are got automatically from LAN (if DHCP-service is available). IP-settings functionality can be tested by Test button. The green indicator indicates that Trident gets connection to public internet via LAN. If the indicator is red, check the connection of LAN-cable and the LAN-settings (from network administrator if needed). 4. IP-address. Set the IP-address of device if the IP-address type is static. 5. Subnet mask. Set the subnet mask of device if the IP-address type is static. 6. Default gateway. Set the default gateway of device if the IP-address type is static. 7. DNS-server. Set the DNS-server of device if the IP-address type is static. Copyright 2017 Labkotec Oy 14/34

15 3.6 FTP-transfer settings (5/7) Figure 13. FTP-transfer settings FTP-transfer enables the transfer of the measurement data to Labkonet-server. Before FTP-transfer works, Trident must have working LAN-connection (see Chapter 3.5 Communication settings (4/7)). FTP-settings are: 1. FTP-server address. The IP address of FTP-server. 2. FTP-user name. The user name of Labkonet server. 3. FTP-password. The password of Labkonet server. The password is shown, if Show password check box is checked. 4. Re-enter password. To ensure the validity of password. 5. Station number. The station number of Trident. 6. Transfer interval. The transfer interval or the measurement data in minutes. Minimum 5 minutes. FTP-transfer is started using the settings above by checking FTP-transfer active check box. The functionality of FTP-transfer can be check using Test button. The green indicator indicates that Trident gets connection to Labkonet server. The working connection demands LAN-connection and working LAN- and FTP-settings. Copyright 2017 Labkotec Oy 15/34

16 3.7 Data saving (6/7) Figure 14. Data saving Measurements data and settings of Trident can be saved to memory stick in the Data saving tab. 1. Set memory stick to the USB-slot of Trident. 2. Select Measurements or Settings or both in Store to USB checkbox. 3. Push the Store button. Successful store is indicated by message: Storing complete! After that press OK. 4. Remove memory stick from USB-slot of Trident. Syslog is only for Labkotec service in Store to USB checkbox. Copyright 2017 Labkotec Oy 16/34

17 3.8 Updates (7/7) Figure 15. Updates New application software, previously saved measurements and settings data can be uploaded in the Updates tab. Software update 1. Set memory stick including the new software to the USB-slot of Trident. 2. Select Application in Store to USB checkbox. 3. Push the Update button. Successful update is indicated by message: Update succeed! Press OK to shutdown. Press Ok button and restart Trident. The new software is now in use. The settings remain in update. 4. Remove memory stick from USB-slot of Trident. Measurements data and Settings update 1. Set memory stick including previously saved measurements and/or settings data to the USB-slot of Trident. 2. Select Measurements and Settings or both in Update from USB checkbox. 3. Push the Update button. Successful update is indicated by message: Update Complete! After that press OK. 4. 18 3.9 Modbus TCP/IP Trident can send measurement data with Modbus TCP/IP. Trident operates as a server. Before Modbus TCP/IP works, Trident must have working LAN-connection (see Chapter 3.5 Communication settings 4/7). Trideni Modbus-registers can be found from DOC001408: Trident Ethernet Modbus TCP/IP. 4 MONITORING VIEWS 4.1 Main view The Main view (figure 16) is accessed by clicking Ok -button in the tabs. The Main view displays all the tanks attached to the system (If there are more than four tanks selected, they are shown on their own tabs 2 4. The other tank views can be accessed by clicking the arrow buttons in upper right corner below About -button). Real-time measurement data is shown graphically and alphanumerically. If a tank has an active alarm, the alarm indicator on the upper left corner of the current tank view flashes. The station name, the system time, Alarms -button (opens Alarms tab), Reports - button (opens Reports tab), Settings -button (opens Settings tabs) and About - button (opens Trident info display) are shown on the top of view. Trident is shut down by clicking X -button in the upper left corner of Main view and by switching off the power supply after the display has closed. Detailed tank views can be accessed by clicking the header button of the selected tank. The info window of tank limits opens by pushing i -button on the right side of the tank image. Note! If the color of the text in the volume field is red and the ullage is presented as ----, then that tank hasn t responded in 10 consecutive inquiries (communication alarm). The value of the volume field is the last known response from the tank. Those fields normalize when the communication alarm exits. Figure 16. 19 Detailed tank views are accessed by clicking the tank header button in the Main view. Figures 17, 18, 19 and 20 explain in four tabs the detailed tank views and the history trend. 4.2 Detailed tank view - Values (1/4) Tank name and tank selection menu Realtime measurement data and calculated values Previous/next detailed tank view Saves current values of all tanks to the database to be viewed later in the history curve. If the color of the texts of realtime measurement data and calculated values are red, then that tank hasn t responded in 10 consecutive inquiries (communication alarm). Detailed tank view - History The historical measurement data of the tank is shown in graphical form in the history curve. X-axis shows the selected time period. Black line indicates the volume as liters. Left Y-axis shows the liters. Red line indicates the temperature and the right Y-axis shows the temperature in degrees of centigrade. The history can be scaled by setting the start and end times (see figure 19). This affects the X-axis only. The history trend can be browsed forward and backward by < and > buttons. 23 5 ALARMS 5.1 Alarm handling The following takes place when an alarm rises: 1. Trident logs the alarm to the database. 2. An alarm indicator for the tank starts to flash in the Main view and in the detailed tank view. 3. An alarm indicating window pops up and informs the user about the alarm (figure 21). 4. If the audible alarm setting is set Trident starts to give sound. 5. The user notifies the alarm and acknowledges it by clicking the Acknowledge-button in the alarm indicating window. The Alarm indicating window closes and the audible alarm is silenced. After acknowledging an alarm, the alarm led indicator continues to flash. Figure 21. 24 The following table explains the possible alarms in Trident, the reasons for alarms and their exit criteria: Alarm Cause Exit Communication A probe hasn t answered for 10 consecutive inquiries. The probe answers the inquiry. High level The value got from the probe exceeds the defined high level limit. The value got from the probe falls under the defined high level limit. Order level Low level Water level Leak The value got from the probe falls under the defined order limit. The value got from the probe falls under the defined low level limit. The value got from the probe exceeds the defined water level limit. The leak amount during the leak detection cycle exceeds the defined leak alarm limit. The value got from the probe exceeds the defined order level limit. The value got from the probe exceeds the defined low level limit. The value got from the probe falls under the defined water level limit. In the beginning of the next cycle or by pressing the Delete leak alarms button in the Leak detection settings window. 25 5.2 Alarm reports The alarm history can be monitored from the Alarms view (figure 22) accessed by clicking the Alarms -button in the main bar. The figure below explains the Alarms view. 26 6 REPORTS 6.1 Choosing the right report Trident offers four kinds of reports: Inventory report o Report of the current inventory o Report of inventory history Monthly inventory report Stock delivery report The reports can be selected from the Reports tabs accessed by clicking the Reports button in the main bar. There are three Reports-tabs: Inventory report, Monthly inventory report and Stock delivery report. Select the desired report by clicking the View Report button and the report window opens up. This report can be printed or saved into USB-memory stick in *.CSV format. The report window is closed by clicking the Close button and Trident is returned to the Reports view. 6.2 Reports Inventory report (1/3) There are two inventory reports: report of the current inventory and report of the inventory history (figure 23). Inventory history report shows the measurement data of each tank from the selected date period. User can also select if all the data is shown or only from selected hours. Figure 23. 27 6.3 Report of the current inventory Inventory report (figure 24) shows the volume, level, water level, temperature and ullage at the time of making the report for every tank attached to the system. Figure 24. Inventory report 6.4 Report of inventory history Inventory history report (figure 25). In this example selected date period is and only data saved on 12:00 and 18:00 is shown) shows the measurement data of each tank from the selected date period. Figure 25. 28 6.5 Reports Monthly inventory report (2/3) Remember to select the appropriate month from the drop down list before viewing the report (figure 26). The months are presented as follows: 1/2014 is January, 2/2014 is February etc. Only 12 latest months can be selected. Figure 26. Reports Monthly inventory report Monthly inventory report (figure 27) shows the last value of measurement data for each tank for the selected month. The last measurement is usually logged at the months last day at 23:59:00. The report shows also the volume at the beginning of the month, stock deliveries and the total consumption (Start stock End stock + Deliveries). Figure 27. 29 6.6 Reports Stock delivery report (3/3) Remember to select the appropriate time period before viewing the report (figure 28). Figure 28. Stock delivery report 6.7 How to save and print reports The report can be printed or saved to a file for later review. Trident can be connected to either A4 printer or receipt printer. Both printers can not be connected at the same time. The printer can be any A4 printer which has USB-interface and supports PostScript-format or receipt printer e.g. Citizen CT-S280 or CT-S281. The saved file format *.CSV allows this report to be opened later at the spread sheet software. Copyright 2017 Labkotec Oy 29/34

30 7 POS INTERFACE PROTOCOL DESCRIPTION 7.1 COMMUNICATION IN GENERAL All communication is controlled by the host unit (e.g. PC). The host unit sends commands including the probe number. All ASCII command strings consist of a two character command, two character probe number n 1n 2, a possible parameter and a stop character (<CR> = carriage return, ASCII 0D HEX). The ASCII response strings consist of a start character (#, ASCII 23 HEX), a result string and a stop character (<CR>). 7.2 INQUIRY COMMANDS LEVEL/VOLUME INQUIRY $Vn 1 n 2 <CR> By this command probe n 1n 2 sends the result in the mode that is preset by the $D command. Response: #xl 1...l 6 <CR> where x = always zero l 1...l 6 = result in units according to preset parameters (result mode), digits LEVEL INQUIRY $Mn 1 n 2 <CR> By this command probe n 1n 2 sends the level in millimetres (irrespective of the result mode) in the same mode as the $V command when the result mode is 0. #l 1...l 6 <CR> l 1...l 6 = result in units according to preset parameters (result mode), digits TEMPERATURE INQUIRY $Tn 1 n 2 <CR> By this command probe n 1n 2 sends the temperature of the measured liquid. 31 CONDENSED WATER LEVEL INQUIRY $Gn 1 n 2 <CR> By this command probe n 1n 2 sends the water level on the bottom of the tank. (The measurement is possible only for non-conductive liquids, such as fuels.) Response: #m 1...m 4 <CR> where m 1...m 4 = water level in millimetres, digits WATER VOLUME WVn1n2<CR> This command is here to keep compatibility to old systems. Use Water Level command instead of. ALL VALUES INQUIRY $An 1 n 2 <CR> By this command probe n 1n 2 sends the level in tenths of millimetres, volume, temperature, water level and possible alarms. Response: #m 1...m 5 ;v1...v6;t1...t4;g1...g4<cr> where ; = field separator (semicolon) m 1...m 5 = level as an integer in tenths of mm (1...5 digits) v 1...v 6 = level/volume according to result mode (1...6 digits) t 1...t 4 g 1...g 4 = temperature as an integer in tenths of C(t1 can also be a minus sign, characters) = water level in millimetres (1...4 digits) The contents of the v 1...v 6 reading is determined by the result mode (set by the $D command) and indicates either the level in millimetres or the volume in litres. 32 7.3 SOME HINTS 7.4 EXAMPLES The typical response time is two seconds. It is recommended to read response char by char until to get end char (CR). After that is response ready. Timeout value should be something like 5 seconds. If Trident does not send a response, try sending a <CR> and send the original command again. After a <CR> Trident is ready for receiving a new command. After initializing the serial port of the host send one or two <CR> commands to Trident to clear the input buffer from wrong characters caused by power-up. 33 8 REMOTE MONITORING 9 TROUBLESHOOTING Trident can also be used via remote connection. Trident must be connected to LAN and the following network settings must be set in Communication settings tab (see Communication settings 4/7): IP-address type, IP-address, Network mask, Default gateway and DNS-server. When this device has a working network connection, it can be accessed using a VNC-terminal software (for example TightVNC Viewer). Set the IP-address of Trident to terminal software. The dynamic address of Trident can be seen by clicking Test button of network connection in communication settings tab. The IP-address of Trident is in IP-address field. The communication of Trident between sensors and POS-device can be shown by double-clicking the Main view. The Communication check-window is shown (figure 30). The update of the view can be stopped by clicking Stop update button. The update continues by clicking Start update button. The messages during the break cannot be shown. The touch screen can be recalibrated by clicking Recalibrate button. The user is asked the confirmation and Trident is shut down.
