1 Friday Fast Facts February 26, 2016 Volume 4 Issue 4 On Wednesday, February 24, 2016, the Titusville Police Department attended the Florida Accreditation Commission meeting in St. Augustine where they were officially granted their second reaccreditation. Chief Lau, Commander Hutchinson, Lieutenant King, Accreditation Manager Stacey Woodward along with City Manager Larese and Assistant City Manager Abbate were all in attendance for the Commission board review and plaque presentation. Accreditation ensures that a law enforcement agency is using Best Practices in law enforcement and increases the department s ability to prevent and control crime through more effective and efficient delivery of law enforcement services to the community. City Clerk s Office: On February 12, 2016, the Student Advisory Council hosted the 2016 Student Leadership Seminar at Parrish Medical Center. Approximately 39 students from Astronaut and Titusville High Schools and the North Brevard Home School Association attended as guests. The day included a blend of inspirational speeches by local community leaders and an interactive activity that required the students to work together to create hypothetical social media campaigns on topics important to the Student Advisory Council. The Student Advisory Council is very appreciative and grateful to the many volunteers and donations from local sponsors that helped make their event a huge success! Additionally, the City Clerk s Office would like to give special thanks to several City staff that made the seminar possible, including Rick Story of the Information Technology Department, Natural Resources Planner Eddy Galindo, Police Sergeant Victor Rodriguez, and Fire and Emergency Services Battalion Chief EMS/Training Greg Sutton. Neighborhood Services during the months of December 2015 and January 2016, the department processed six applications for the Housing Rehab Program resulting in two emergency roof contracts, one rehab contract, and one rebuild contract; with the remaining two applicants being unresponsive.
