The alarm condition can only be cleared by pressing the RESET button. The is ideal for domestic hot water systems. When the domestic water temperature rises above the selected set point, the will enter the Alarm Mode. The will control a solenoid valve. In the Alarm Mode, the solenoid valve will close the flow of hot water to the domestic system. To open the solenoid valve and let the hot water back into the system, two things must happen: the domestic water temperature must fall below the critical point, and the RESET button must be pressed. ETV Control Module ETV Control Module Tempered Cold NC Solenoid Hot HOT WATER SOURCE Typical uses of the include: Domestic Hot Water (DHW) alarm Freeze condition alarms Refrigeration system alarms Hydronic heating systems high temperature alarms and control for solenoid valve to disable the heating system Space temperature alarm systems Status Mode The operation has two status modes: Normal: In this mode, the System Sensor (temperature or pressure) is not in a critical zone. Critical zone is when the sensor reading is above the Set Point in Heating or below the Set Point in cooling. The solenoid valve will be open and its LED will be on. Alarm LED and Alarm relays will be de-energized. Alarm: The will automatically enter this mode whenever the System Sensor reading enters the critical zone. The will then close the solenoid valve (regardless of the Solenoid Valve type selected from the Startup menu). The Valve Open LED will be off and the Alarm LED will be blinking. All alarm outputs will be energized. Warning To Exit the Alarm Mode, the System Sensor must be out of the critical zone and the RESET button must be pressed. 6 Wiring Wiring the Power (Terminals 1, 2) Bring the 120VAC 60 Hz power wires through the enclosure left bottom knockout. Connect the hot line to terminal 1 marked L. Connect the neutral line to terminal 2 marked N. The installation of the provided metal Grounding Plate is needed when using conduit. Heat-Timer recommends the installation of a power switch and a surge-suppressor before the power line connection for safety and ease of service. 120 VAC L N PWR L N 1 2 Warning Class 1 voltage wiring must use a different knockout and conduit from any Class 2 voltage wiring. Wiring the Solenoid VALVe (Terminals 7, 8) The solenoid valve requires an external power source. The does not provide power to the solenoid valve. A separate power source must be wired in series with the solenoid as per the illustration on the right. The solenoid output relay can operate up to 1 Amp pilot duty or 6 Amp resistive load. If additional load is required, use a relay. The can operate a solenoid valve that is normally open or normally closed. The option to select which type of valve must be set in the Startup menu. See Solenoid Valve on page 10. Regardless of the solenoid valve s normal status (N.O. or N.C.), the Valve Open LED will light up when the valve is open. Alarm 3 4 Output Alarm Valve L 120 VAC N Solenoid Valve Wiring the Alarm (Terminals 3, 4 or 5, 6) The has two Alarm output relays. It does not provide power to the alarm outputs. A separate power source must be wired in series with the alarm. Each of the Alarm output relays can operate up to 1 Amp pilot duty. The Alarm output will be active whenever the System Sensor has risen (or fallen if in the cooling mode) out of range. Even if the sensor reading returns to normal, the alarm will not clear until the manual Reset button has been pressed. See Status Mode on page 4. The alarm power should be switched through the output terminals. These are either terminals 3 and 4 or terminals 5 and 6. The Alarm LED will blink whenever the is in Alarm Mode. To exit the Alarm Mode, the System Sensor reading must not be in the critical zone and the RESET button must be pressed.
