The universal transmitter can be used to connect any device to initiate a wireless alarm call on a Tynetec/Aidcall warden call system, at home alarm or Nursecall system. The device it is being connected to must have a momentary action, normally open or normally closed, voltage free relay output that changes state on alarm. The universal transmitter also includes a reed switch which can be used with an intruder alarm type door magnet to monitor a door being opened/closed. Choosing a Location The universal transmitter must be fitted internally within ½ metre of the device being monitored. The universal transmitter must be fitted to the door frame if its internal reed switch is being used to monitor a door. Typical Tools Required A multi meter may be required to check the output of the device being connected. Side cutters are required to cut and strip the wires. Small flat bladed and Pozi screwdrivers will be required. Fitting the Universal Transmitter Establish that the device you are connecting the transmitter to has a momentary action, normally open, voltage free relay output. Failure to check this may result in damage to the transmitter. If you are unsure how to check this seek advice from an Electrical Engineer. 1. Select the best location and fix the unit to a clean dry surface using the double sided self adhesive foam pad provided. 2. Undo the 4 fixing screws and remove the lid. Universal Transmitter 4 SCREW FIXINGS 3. The universal transmitter comes with ½ metre of wire, cut to the required length, strip the ends and connect to the device being monitored. Fix the cable tidily using the cable clips provided. TEST TX Part No. ZXT449 ENV G1 FREQ: MHz MADE IN UK 4. With the lid fitted you will need a small blunt instrument (i.e. ballpoint pen) to push the button. The TX LED will flash RED for several seconds during the test transmission. After the test transmission the LED will flash again to indicate which input type is set and if the reed switch is enabled; 1 x GREEN flash indicates normally open input (DIL switch 3 ) 2 x GREEN flashes indicates normally closed input (DIL switch 3 ) Followed by 1 x RED flash indicates the reed switch is enabled (DIL switch 4 ) No flash indicates the reed switch is disabled (DIL switch 4 ) TEST BUTT Universal Transmitter TEST TX Part No. ZXT449 ENV G1 FREQ: MHz MADE IN UK TX LED The range of all radio devices can be affected by the working environment always take care during installation and perform several test calls.
