For your protection, carefully read and understand all of these instructions and warnings before attempting to install or maintain this equipment. These instructions are limited and cannot cover all installation and maintenance situations. Therefore, trained professionals should be the only parties installing or maintaining the equipment. If you do not understand these instructions or if additional information is required you can find supplementary information in video instructions at or you may contact your local Flow Lighting representative. Retain these instructions for maintenance reference. RISK OF FIRE OR ELECTRICAL SHOCK Flow Lighting QuickLED New Fixture installation requires knowledge of luminaire electrical systems. QuickLED shall be installed in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, codes and installation instructions provided by the manufacturer. The professional electricians installing this product must be familiar with the construction and operation of this product and any hazards involved in its installation, removal and/or maintenance. If not qualified, do not attempt installation. Contact a qualified electrician to install the product. RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRICAL SHOCK AND/OR PERSONAL INJURY Do not install a damaged fixture. TURN OFF POWER BEFORE INSTALLATION PROCEDURES BEGIN. RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY Light fixtures and troffers may have sharp edges. Wear gloves to prevent cuts or abrasions. RISK OF FIRE OR ELECTRICAL SHOCK To prevent wire damage or abrasion, do not expose wiring to edges of sheet metal or other sharp objects. 2

3 RISK OF FIRE OR ELECTRICAL SHOCK Prior to mounting luminaire, check above ceiling for any obstructions to avoid damage to wiring. RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRICAL SHOCK AND/OR PERSONAL INJURY Confirm that the electrical wiring, safety cables and other obstructions are clear prior to snapping the QuickLED fixture into the troffer. RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRICAL SHOCK AND/OR PERSONAL INJURY Do not drill, cut or modify the Flow Lighting QuickLED fixture in any way as this will void the warranty. Do not modify the electrical assembly in any way including, but not limited to, the removal, addition, modification or alteration of components such as power supplies, drivers, sensors, controls, wireless devices or any other products. Do not power any other device(s) from Flow Lighting Systems either. Any and all such acting shall void the product warranty and will void the UL listing, unless added components are Flow Lighting products or Flow Lighting OEM systems designed and UL listed as part or are approved electrical assemblies. CAUTIONS! CAUTION! Flow Lighting QuickLED New Fixtures are designed for permanent installation in normal (Non-Hazardous) locations in accordance with all applicable National and Local codes. Do not use in limited ventilation or high ambient temperature enclosures.! CAUTION! Do not make or alter any holes in an enclosure for wiring of electrical components during installation.! CAUTION! Handle fixture and components with care. To prevent physical and visual damage to the products, loss of functionality and/or other difficulties during installation or maintenance do not drop, slide, or mishandle the fixture or its components in any manner. 3

4 GENERAL NOTES 1. Read and follow all safety and installation instructions. 2. Flow Lighting, Type IC is inherently protected. 3. Fixtures are intended for INDOOR USE ONLY and for horizontal applications as a non-air handling unit. 4. Suitable for damp locations. 5. For use in non-insulated suspended ceiling applications and surface mount applications. 6. Before servicing or installing fixture, TURN OFF power at the electric service panel or fuse box. 7. Power at existing fixture must comply with voltage and frequency specified on the LED driver. 8. Designed for use with luminaries using VAC, 50/60 MHz, on protected circuits. Confirm that the product label matches the power supply main voltage. 9. For installation use supply conductors rated 75 C. 10. Install Flow Lighting QuickLED only in combination with 15/16 NEMA G or NEMA NFG suspended ceiling systems. 11. Due to the broad range of existing suspended ceilings and other site variable conditions, Flow Lighting recommends that the installer complete a test fixture installation to confirm fit, aesthetics and lighting functions to be satisfactory prior to initiating a new fixture installation project. 12. Vapor barrier, if applicable, must be suitable for 90 C. 13. Do not touch LED chips as this may cause damage and/or failure of units and may void warranty. 14. Do not mount near gas or electric heaters. 15. Equipment should be mounted in locations and at heights where it will not readily be subjected to tampering by unauthorized personnel. 16. The use of accessory equipment not recommended by the manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition and will likely void the product warranty and may void the UL listing. 17. Do not use this equipment for other than its intended use. CANADA THE NEW FIXTURE ASSEMBLY IS ACCEPTED AS A COMPONENT OF A LUMINAIRE WHERE THE SUITABILITY OF THE COMBINATION SHALL BE DETERMINED BY UL OR AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION. 4

5 INSTALLATION: Flow Lighting QuickLED NEW FIXTURE 2x4, 2x2 & 1x4 CONTENTS OF CARTON: (1) - QuickLED Fixture Includes installed components: o Pre-Wired with Quick Connects for: Power (Black & White) Dimming (Purple & Gray) o (2) Diffusers / Lenses; Note: (1) Diffuser / Lens for 1x4 Fixture o (2) Safety / Installation Cables to secure one-piece light fixture to troffer. Troffer is assumed to be supported to building structure above per NEC (b). o (2) Access cover plates with green ground screw. (1) Troffer Housing (2) #8x1 Self-Drilling Sheet Metal Screws to attach troffer to the T-bar structure. (3) - #10x3 Self-Drilling Sheet Metal Screws to attach fixture to troffer. (1) Installation Manual TOOLS REQUIRED: Phillips Screwdriver Hex Head Screwdriver Slot Screwdriver Wire Cutters / Strippers Cordless Drill/Driver Phillips / Hex / Slot / Nut Gloves Protective Eyewear Driver Bits 5

6 INSTALLING QUICKLED NEW FIXTURE: 1. INSTALLATION PREPARATION TURN OFF POWER 2. REMOVE FIXTURE FROM TROFFER Remove the lenses. Starting at one end of the lens, gently pinch and hold to separate the corner of the lens from the lens channel per Image 1. While maintaining hold, continue to pinch down the length of the lens per Image 2. Carefully separate the full length of the lens from the lens channel per Image 3. Gently set the lens aside. Repeat with the second lens. Avoid raking the edge of the lens down the lens retainer channel. Pinch lens clear of channel. IMAGE 1 IMAGE 2 IMAGE 3 CAUTION Lenses are fragile, handle with care. Release the two spring clips at one end of the fixture and gently lift the QuickLED fixture out of troffer. Carefully set the fixture aside for later installation. (See Image 4) CAUTION IF QUICKLED AUTO FIXTURE WITH SENSORS AND CONTROLS, DO NOT PLACE FIXTURE ON SURFACE WHERE SENSORS AND CONTROLS CAN BE PUSHED INTO FIXTURE. PROTECT SENSORS AND CONTROLS. IMAGE 4 CAUTION Do not touch LED chips as damage may result. Reinstall the lenses. Set the long edge of the lens into the lens channel per Image 5. Starting at one end and progressing toward the other, gently pinch the lens and carefully guide the other edge into the opposing lens channel. (See Images 5 through 7) As pinched lens is replaced, allow it to seat into opposite lens channel. Avoid raking the edge of the lens down the lens retainer channel. Pinch lens clear of channels. Be sure lens is placed over spring clips to conceal spring clips on end of fixture. IMAGE 5 IMAGE 6 IMAGE 7 CAUTION Lenses are fragile, handle with care. 7 3. INSTALL TROFFER Position the new troffer into the ceiling grid, making sure it is properly seated. Pull troffer down to firmly seat troffer on suspended ceiling. While pulling down on troffer, place one (1) #8x1 screw into house on end of troffer and secure troffer to suspended ceiling T-bar structure. Secure second screw to T-bar structure on opposite diagonal side of troffer. Attach troffer to existing T-bar per Diagram 1. Secure / brace troffer to structure above per applicable building codes. DIAGRAM 1 DIAGRAM 2 Per Diagrams 1 and 2, secure fixture to troffer. 4. ATTACH QUICKLED FIXTURE TO TROFFER With the troffer installation complete, the QuickLED fixture is ready to be installed. DIAGRAM 3 To begin, hold fixture parallel to troffer with safety/installation cables facing upwards. With the fixture braced securely on a ladder, thread free end of safety cable and locking plate through a hole located in the corner of the troffer. Tug firmly to ensure cable/plate is fully engaged and secure. Repeat at other corner on same side as first cable. (See Diagrams 3 and 4) 5. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION CAUTION: LINE VOLTAGE Using green ground screw; attach green ground wire to access cover plate or other approved ground location. DIAGRAM 4 Strip 3/8 of an inch of insulation from power leads for connection to QuickLED fixture. Attached to the QuickLED fixture is an orange quick-connect power plug. Disconnect the open half of the connector and insert the building power leads into the corresponding color-coded holes in the connector. Black to black and white to white or white to no color ring. IMPORTANT: Line Voltage Allow a minimum length of inches for steel flex conduit to allow QuickLED fixture to hang from ceiling for service/maintenance. (See Diagram 4) Insert access cover plates into back panel and secure using screw (provided). 7

8 6. INSTALL QUICKLED FIXTURE Pivot QuickLED fixture so that it is parallel to the ceiling plane with the lens side facing down. Lift the fixture up to the troffer and align it with the troffer. While supporting the fixture, confirm that all wiring and safety cables are clear of conflicts. Position one end of the fixture into the troffer. Confirm alignment of the fixture to the troffer and snap the opposite side of fixture into place. Ensure the spring clips are fully engaged with the mounting brackets and that the fixture is seated firmly into the troffer. Restore power to the light fixture(s). For more detail, please see installation video at THE INSTALLATION IS COMPLETE OPTIONAL EMERGENCY LIGHTING Emergency lighting luminaires are provided with a factory installed UL Listed Philips Bodine BSL310 Emergency LED Driver. Philips Bodine (OEM manufacturer s) instructions are included with the Emergency Fixture. These instructions can also be found at: This product is suitable for use in damp locations where the ambient temperature is 0º C min., +55º C max. ELECTRICAL RATING: The total input current rating for all equipment is the sum of the current ratings of its integral parts (LED Driver and I/C packs). There are NO provisions for remote loads. Recharge Time: 24 hours This equipment is suitable for use in a Damp location with ambient temperatures of C. LABELS FOR FIXTURE INCLUDE: THIS LUMINAIRE IS PROVIDED WITH A FACTORY-INSTALLED EMERGENCY LIGHTING BATTERY PACK. Output: Operates the installed lamps for 90 minutes. CAUTION: Sealed unit. Philips Bodine BSL310 Emergency Driver is not partially replaceable. Replace entire unit when necessary. Maximum Mounting Height: 12-6 or equivalent. SUITABLE FOR DAMP LOCATIONS INSTRUCTIONS: Connecting Power: BSL310 offers switched and un-switched power options. The following wires / connection points can be found on the Emergency LED Driver: (1) Black Wire (1) White / Red Stripes (1) White Wire 8

9 Switched Power Connection: 1. Connect the line power (Black) wire to the BLACK wire on the Emergency LED Driver. 2. Connect the common (White) wire to the WHITE wire at the Emergency LED Driver. 3. Go To Enable Battery instructions below. Un-Switched Power Connection: 1. Connect the line power (Black) to the White with Red Stripes wire at the Emergency LED Driver. 2. Connect the common (White) wire to the WHITE wire at the Emergency LED Driver. 3. Go To Enable Battery instructions below. Enable Battery Instructions: 1. To enable the battery the two (2) RED wires at the Emergency LED Driver must be connected. Use the short RED jumper wire (included with fixture) and install each end of the jumper wire into the quick / push connectors provided on each of the red wires at the Emergency LED Driver. NOTE: Power has been disconnected to the fixture for installation or service, so by enabling the battery with the red jumper wire as described above the fixture will be forced to illuminate from the battery power. The fixture will illuminate on battery power until line power is restored and the wall switch or other controls are used to turn off the fixture. 10 OPTIONAL CONTROLS CONTROLS (0-10V) Routing of low voltage control wires to Flow Lighting fixtures shall be through separate electrical access panel or knockout in troffer that is separate from line circuits. Optional: For connection of Flow Lighting QuickLED driver to dimming controls. 1. Locate purple and gray 18 AWG Solid Copper Wire with Quick Connects pre-wired from LED driver on back of QuickLED retrofit fixture. 2. Use 18 AWG Solid Copper Wire Rated >=300V and strip wire 3/8. Insert stripped wire into quickconnectors PURPLE (+) and GRAY (-) for 0-10V controls. SEE FOLLOWING DIAGRAMS FOR VARIOUS CONTROL CONFIGURATIONS 10
