8 USAID-Sida FIRMA project metal sector Metal sector is characterized with growth of productivity and consequent loss in employment Global and regional companies lead restructuring and internationalization of the sector (Mittal Steel, Mann Hummel...) There is a big number (>1,000) of small and micro companies operating in the sector and a few large companies Equipment and machine building requires new investments t in technology and licensing i The sector needs new / Greenfield investments, clustering, reindustrialization (new development concept) 8
