2 event schedule Friday, June 24 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m FFEDA Annual Golf Tournament Hawk s Landing Golf Club 2:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. Florida Fire Safety Board Meeting (This is a public meeting and attendees will receive technical credit hours approved for both portable extinguishers and preengineered systems) The Florida Fire Safety Board is a seven member board created per F.S.S The board acts in an advisory capacity to the State Fire Marshal and meets regularly as the need presents itself. The board has the authority to review complaints and disputed administrative action and make recommendations for disciplinary action to the division at the request of the license holder, permit holder, or certificate holder. The board serves in an advisory capacity to the division regarding rules, codes, standards, interpretations, and training. The two fire equipment representatives on this important board are John Gioseffi, Broward Fire Equipment, Ft. Lauderdale (currently serving as chair of the board) and Bo Alligood, B&C Fire Safety, Inc., Ft. Walton Beach. Both have served as past presidents of FFEDA with John currently serving as Treasurer on the FFEDA Board of Directors. This techical seminar is approved for both portable 4:15 p.m. 6:15 p.m. Educational Seminar - Extinguisher Distribution & Travel Distances J.R. Nerat, Badger Fire Protection/Kidde Improper fire extinguisher coverage can result in inadequate fire protection and lead to litigation. This presentation covers the various code related minimum requirements associated with proper fire extinguisher selection, placement and distribution. The information is explained in a manner that is easy to understand, remember and apply in the field. Dennis has been in the fire suppressant business since Prior to Eagle Fire Corporation, Dennis served in a variety of professional roles, including Senior Loan Officer of a national bank, Restaurant Manager, Finance and Insurance Manager at a Chevrolet Dealership, and marketing with BellSouth. Active in his current profession, Dennis served on the Florida Fire Equipment Dealers Association Board from , and is an acitve supporter of FFEDA. Scott Lugering Insurance Solutions of America, Inc. Scott Lugering currently serves as President and CEO of Insurance Solutions of America, Inc. which focuses on finding the best insurance solutions for fire protection companies in the state of Florida. He also travels throughout Florida educating fire equipment companies on workers compensation regulations and what companies can do to help protect their employees. Scott has been working within the workers compensation insurance industry for the past 10 years. Keith McCarthy State Fire Marshals Office Keith McCarthy became employed with the Division of State Fire Marshal as a Statistician II in October In 2003 he became the Florida Fire Incident Reporting System (FFIRS) Program Manager inconjunction with the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) and was responsible for directing activities of the Florida Incident Reporting System (FFIRS) Section, which manages the State s program for collecting and reporting fire related data to the National Fire Reporting Program and producing the CF)/State Fire Marshal, Annual Report Florida Fires. In June 2011, he was promoted to the position of Government Operations Consultant. In October 2011, he was promoted to Safety Program Manager within the Bureau of Fire Prevention. J.R. Nerat Badger/Kidde J.R. Nerat is the Technical Manager for Badger/ Kidde and one of the industry s most recognized subject matter experts. His extensive experience and background within the fire protection industry is highly regarded both domestically and internationally. Mr. Nerat serves on several NFPA technical committees and represents the NFPA Industrial Section on the Portable Fire Extinguisher technical committee. He has extensive experience in areas of product design, testing, installation, application and service of fire protection equipment. Mr. Nerat consults for various national and state organizations, major corporations, legal firms, insurance interests, approval agencies, foreign governments and lectures at various industry related functions including the International Industrial Fire School at Texas A&M University, where he serves as a Master Instructor. 5 event schedule Workplace Safety Seminar: Vehicle Safety: Driving for Work Dennis Aiello, Eagle Fire Corporation Driving for work poses risks not only for the driver but for fellow workers and members of the public. Attendees will learn to identify these risks and information. Guidelines and tools will also be shared to alleviate future issues. This special hours seminar is approved for permittees for both portable extinguishers and preengineered systems. Please note that these two special hour seminars will be held concurrently and you will only be able to receive the CEU credit for one of the topics.
