CIT5 User s Guide 4-1 Chapter 4 Introduction The Room View window uses a tabbed display to present the information about one selected room. This chapter describes the tabs and features of the Room View window. July 22, 2002 Johnson Controls, Inc. Code No. LIT
4-2 Key Concepts Room View Window The Room View presents information about a particular room. The Room View window is always present on the CIT5 desktop. Several tabs may appear at the bottom of the Room View window, depending on the user s CIT5 access rights. Figure 4-1 shows the Room View window with all available tabs present and the A/C tab selected. Figure 4-1: Room View Window with the A/C Tab Selected
CIT5 User s Guide 4-3 Regardless of the access rights set up for the user and the Room View tab selected, the upper part of the Room View (Figure 4-2) is the same for all tabs. The Room View contains the room number (Room 1205) in the title bar, the Central Interface (CI) Network address (1:12:5), and a description if one was entered. Below the room description the name of the guest currently checked into the room (Mr. Samuel Adams) appears. Table 4-1 describes the Room View Title Bar fields. Figure 4-2: Room View Title Bar Table 4-1: Room View Title Bar Fields Field Description Name Guest s name Rented Rented status Occupancy Occupancy status DND Do-not-Disturb (DND) status MUR Make-up-Room (MUR) status The actual room status of rented, occupancy, DND and MUR appears as an icon. A colored icon indicates an active status, and an icon which appears dimmed indicates inactive status. Figure 4-2 shows Room 1205 rented and occupied, with DND and MUR not selected.
4-4 Air Conditioning (A/C) Tab In the Room View window, the A/C tab (Figure 4-1) represents a thermostat in the room, shows Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) related data, and allows changing the target temperature and HVAC mode. In addition, the room and terrace door status (open or shut) appears if the system is configured to display this information. Figure 4-3: Changing Target Temperature

CIT5 User s Guide 4-17 Frontdesk Tab In the Room View window, the Frontdesk tab (Figure 4-11) manually checks in and checks out guests. Typically, guest check in and check out is controlled by the Property Management System (PMS). The PMS interfaces with the Central Interface Service (CIS) via a serial connection and sends check-in and check-out requests to the CIS automatically. The room Do-Not-Disturb (DND), Make-up-Room (MUR), and Message Waiting status are indicated by the symbol color. A color symbol indicates an active status. These indications are normally controlled automatically by the system, and the Toggle buttons are not used. However, if these indications are not automatically controlled, press the Toggle button to toggle the status. Table 4-7 describes Frontdesk tab fields. Figure 4-11: Frontdesk Tab

The status is normally controlled by the DND buttons on a room controller, Door Plate, Touchscreen Console, or Table Top Control Panel. If those devices are not present, the status can be changed by clicking the Toggle button. Indicates the mini-bar door status if a room is equipped with a mini-bar with a door sensor. If the icon is colored, the door sensor indicates that the mini-bar door was opened. Virtually locks the mini-bar. If the mini-bar door is opened by the guest, an alarm appears in the CIT5 Alarm window indicating that the Mini-bar Lock was violated for the particular room. Turns on the first time the door is opened on a recently restocked mini-bar. This notifies housekeeping the mini-bar was opened. A special door opening sequence (opening and closing the door three times rapidly) used by housekeeping indicates when the mini-bar has been serviced. Activates the Butler call if the room is equipped with a dedicated button or switch for the purpose of requesting a butler or room service. Pressing the Toggle button clears the request. Indicates MUR status for the room. The status is normally controlled by the MUR buttons on a room controller, Door Plate, Touchscreen Console, or Table Top Control Panel. If those devices are not present, the status can be changed by clicking the Toggle button. Monitors the output contact if the room is equipped with a smoke sensor. If the sensor indicates smoke, this icon becomes colored. Typically a CIS alarm also activates. Resets the Smoke Sensor Alarm Counter. Displays the door status if the room safe is equipped with a door sensor. Controls Group 507 E. Michigan Street P.O. Box 423 Milwaukee, WI Published in U.S.A.
