3. SYSTEM INSTALLATION Refer to the drawings attached in the Technical File delivered with the System Main Unit The standard presentation is a wall mounting cabinet, the dimensions of which depend of the alarm function and the number of channels. 1. Install the cabinet on the dedicated room wall; 2. Install the Zener Barriers box(es); Our recommendation : as close as possible to the cables entries from deck; so, the cable from Zener barriers box(es) can be multi-pair type, for wiring cost save; 3. Install the packing glands on the cabinet's plate dedicated for that purpose, the number of which depends of the multi-pair cable arrangement from the Zener barriers box(es); 4. Proceed to the final channel inputs wiring, on the terminal plate(s); 5. Proceed to the outputs wiring, power supplies and miscellaneous according to the delivered diagram in the Technical File. Flush mounting plate for installation in an existing cubicle or console is available; in this case, the terminal plate(s) and the DIN rail assembly supporting the power supply(ies) and terminals have to be fixed in the cubicle or console as close as possible of the alarm module(s). Refer to the project's drawings Optional Repeater Unit The standard presentation is a wall mounting cabinet, the dimensions of which depend of the alarm function and the number of channels. A multi-pair cable is to be provided for following connection from the Main Unit to the Repeater Unit : 24 Vdc power supply; RS485 digital link between the Main Unit and the Repeater Unit; Remote acknowledgement buttons, if any. 1. Install the cabinet on the dedicated room wall; 2. Install the packing glands on the cabinet's plate dedicated for that purpose, the number of which depends of the multi-pair cable arrangement from the Main Unit; 3. Proceed to the final channel inputs wiring, on the terminal plate(s); 4. Proceed to the power supplies wiring and miscellaneous according to the delivered diagram. Flush mounting plate for installation in an existing cubicle or console is available; in this case, the terminal plate(s) have to be fixed in the cubicle or console as close as possible of the alarm module(s). Refer to the project's drawings. 4. SYSTEM OPERATION 4.1 Alarm function Alarm input sequence Each AU-160A alarm module has 16 channel inputs, 4-20 ma current loop type, which can be each configured according to one of the following mode (see chapter 0.5.3) : Alarm input / Normal current >12mA CARLA Technical Manual 9

Alarm input / Normal current <12Ma Status input / Normal current >12mA Status input / Normal current <12mA Inhibition enabled or disabled Invalid channel (not used) In alarm input mode, when the input of a channel changes from "normal" to "abnormal" situation according to the configured function, the relevant LED starts flashing with red color. The alarm situation has to linger at least 70 msec. over the settable occurrence time delay (see chapter 4.1.2), before indicating an alarm. In the same time, the internal buzzer activates, as well as the horn relay output (see chapter ). As a reaction to the alarm : First the "Accept Horn" key switches off the buzzer / horn relay output; Then the "Accept Flash" key stops the flashing and the LED pass to red color steady status; Then the LED extinguishes as soon as the alarm condition disappears, over a settable disappearance time delay (see chapter 4.1.2). Note : The LED related to the channel appearing in alarm condition in first starts flashing with fast frequency compared to the successive alarm. The "Accept Horn" key has to be pressed in first even if the buzzer is set in silent mode (see chapter 0.5.3), for external Horn relay output acknowledgement. The channels inputs of the alarm module of the Level Alarm Main Unit are set in Alarm input / Normal current > 12 ma; the unused channels are set invalid. Note for Status input mode, for information only since mode not used in Level Alarm Unit : When the input of a channel set in status mode changes from "normal" to "abnormal" situation, the relevant LED lights on in steady red color over the settable occurrence time delay, without any sequence; only the Accept flash acknowledged is needed. When the input goes back to "normal" over a settable disappearance time delay, the LED extinguishes Occurrence and disappearance time delays Each input signals can be provided with two delays, alarm occurrence time delay and alarm disappearance time delay. These delays are settable per channel from 00 till 99 seconds with intervals of 1 second (see chapter 0.5.3). In this way, unwanted (transient) alarms can be avoided, such as varying tank levels, oil pressures etc. The default factory pre-set values are 2 seconds for the input time delay, and 30 seconds for the disappearance time delay. CARLA Technical Manual 10

Buzzer An internal buzzer function is provided for audible indication, which can be configured according to one of the following mode (see chapter 0.5.3) : sound in continuous mode when an alarm occurs, until Accept Horn key pressed sound in alternate mode when an alarm occurs, until Accept Horn key pressed silent mode For WIDS System, the buzzer for a pre-alarm level channel sounds fast alternate, whatever is the configured buzzer mode for the other channels, by respect to the discrimination required for the pre-alarm channels. The default setting is continuous mode Channel outputs A bi-directional output is provided for each channel, for forwarding the alarm situation toward an external annunciator or a monitoring system. The output can be configured for each channel according to one of the following mode (see chapter 0.5.3) : Activation before the both delays Activation after the both delays Copy of the LED status Output normally closed Output normally opened The default setting is activation after the both delays, outputs normally opened. 4.2 Special functions Inhibit function The channel inhibit function is used when a particular channel doesn't need temporarily to be monitored, depending of the operational status of the relevant tank : end of loading operation on a tanker, hold used as water ballast on a bulk carrier. When pressing the channel INHIBIT key during at least 1 second, the relevant LED lights on with green color; To restore the normal alarm function, press INHIBIT key during at least 1 second. Note : For WIDS System, a channel cannot be inhibited with an existing alarm. This function can be enabled or disabled for each channel (see chapter 0.5.3) Navigation function (only for CARLA System) The "Navigation" function, equivalent to a global inhibition for all channels, is used when all channels don't need to be no more monitored (example : navigation period for liquid cargo tankers). CARLA Technical Manual 11

When first pressing "Accept Horn" during at least 5 seconds, the navigation function is activated : The yellow NAV LED lights on; The channels LED s lights on in green color; All the alarm situations are cancelled, annunciations and outputs, whatever is their input states. To restore the normal alarm function, press Accept Horn key during at least 5 second. Note : For WIDS System, the navigation mode is not possible Override function (only for WIDS System) For WIDS System monitoring the ingress of water in the cargo holds on bulk carriers, the alarm channels (pre-alarm and main alarm) related to holds which can be used as water ballasts can be override using the inhibit function described in However, the inhibition must be automatically cancelled as soon as the hold is de-ballasted, over the alarm disappearance time delay, i.e. when the pre-alarm has disappeared. In that way, the configuration process allows to setup for each hold the pre-alarm channel number, in association with the main alarm channel number (see chapter 0.5.3, Pre-alarm & Main alarm valid). So the overriding cancellation of pre-alarm channel cancels also this one of the main alarm channel. To come back to normal alarm function, a channel configured as pre-alarm can be set as Pre-alarm & Main alarm invalid (see chapter 0.5.3) Dim function The brightness of the LEDs' can be considered as a nuisance when the alarm modules are working on bridge in dark environment. For this purpose the dim function is available when the surrounding light intensity decreases, by the way of a photo-resistor cell placed in front face. However as soon as an alarm occurs, the dim function is temporarily disabled, until the alarm has been acknowledged (Horn and flashing), in order to ensure the best visible alert function. 4.3 Other functions Horn relay output A horn relay output provides a potential free single pole switch (SPDT), energized when an alarm occurs over the settable occurrence time delay, and released as soon as horn acknowledgement is pressed Remote functions Connections are available for remote functions : Accept Horn Accept Flash TEST function (combination of "Accept Horn" & "Accept Flash") CARLA Technical Manual 12

Note : "Accept Flash and Accept Horn use the same common potential than channel inputs. Accept Flash only acts after horn acknowledgement Lamp and Buzzer test function When pressing simultaneously "Accept Flash" then "Accept Horn", a test function is activated : the horn relay and the buzzer are activated in alternate mode, the front-panel LEDs' light on in red then green color. Note : The outputs are not activated by the test function in order to not disturb a possible external alarm monitoring Synchronization When several units are mounted close to one another, the LEDs' of different units will flash synchronously by connecting the synchronization outputs,. "Sync out+" and "Sync out-" of one unit to Sync in+ and Sync in- respectively of the next AU-160A unit and so on Communication A digital communication port RS232 or RS485 is fitted : RS232 to configure the settings of the AU-160A from a personal computer, for the manufacturer or fitter use only; RS485 for communication with repeater units AU-160R, 32 units max. CARLA Technical Manual 13

The port function is selected by the dip-switches on the rear panel : Terminal number 18, 19, 20 are selected to A, B, Frame Ground respectively for RS-485 communication. On the communication line end, a resistor of 120 W must be placed between A and B. 4.4 Optional repeater Unit The repeater unit includes as many AU-160R modules as in the main unit, using the same channels arrangement : each alarm module in the main unit communicates as master with one or more repeater alarm module as slave. A channel in a repeater unit copies the status of the relevant channel of the main unit Alarm function The alarm sequence on a channel is the copy of this one of the relevant channel on the main unit. The buzzer is activated and deactivated by the main unit; however, an "Accept Horn" and "Accept Flash" keys allow to stop the buzzer and the flashing LED on the remote module. No output relays are available Other functions Only the Dim and Lamp and Buzzer test functions are available (see and ) on the repeater module. No other functions are available : it is agreed that the repeater unit doesn t be able to modify the operation mode of the main unit : the inhibit, navigation functions can only be activated from the main unit. 5. COMMISSIONING, CONFIGURATION In order to setup an AU-160A alarm module, the front has to be removed from the unit : Remove the black rim around the front plate so that it can be lifted from the unit The programming switches are visible in the bottom of the printed circuit board, as well as the Store Switch and "Store LED" : 5 rotative switches Store LED Store switch CARLA Technical Manual 14

In general : Switches SW-0 and SW-1 are for the channel numbering; Switch SW-2 is for function code; Switches SW-3 and SW-4 are for the value of configured data. A table in chapter shows all the functions monitored by the 5 rotary switches : one configuration code is achieved by a combination of rotary switches positions, and stored by pressing the Store Switch until the small green Store LED situated above the Store Switch lights on. The relevant setting is then stored in non-volatile memory. Fill in the table(s) in Appendix for remembering the setup configuration. After setup, reassemble properly the front plate and the rim. 5.1 Default settings The default settings are restored by entering code These correspond to the standard most likely configuration : * Input type Alarm function, Normal current >12mA, * Occurrence and disappearance delay 0 sec * Output type After Delays, Normally Open * Buzzer Continuous mode * Pre-alarm & Main alarm Invalid Note : It is recommended to set the default settings before entering new configuration, to avoid any confusion between existing and new settings. 5.2 Programming example of AU-160A Alarm for low fuel level on channel 2, from a level switch which output delivers 16 ma below the alarm limit and 5 ma above the alarm limit. In order to avoid unwanted alarms during bad weather at sea, the input must be delayed with 5 seconds. So 2 commands must be entered sequentially : 1 st Command : Input type and function for channel 2 : Channel number : 0 2 Command : channel setting 1 Type and function (Value1) : Normally <12mA, Alarm function 1 Value 2 : X (Don t care) Enter Code X :, press the Store Switch CARLA Technical Manual 15
