12 Benefits of Low Pressure Sewers Cost significantly less than gravity sewers 30-60% Lower cost of construction 30-50% Lower cost of ownership Faster installation +/- 5 times Less impact to residents and infrastructure (can be directionally drilled) Eliminates inflow and illegal sump pumps and area drains Does not promote groundwater displacement Reduce or eliminate sewer line flushing maintenance

16 Who pays for what? Project will pay approximately $10,000 per house for: $8,200 - Furnish and install grinder pump, including electric supply $700 - Furnish and install lateral kit (FM to pump) $1,100 - Furnish and install 20-ft of gravity lateral from pump, including trap, vent and cleanout Grinder pump installation includes full site restoration to pre-construction conditions

17 What about the electric supply? If you have room in your existing breaker box, the project will install new breaker(s) in the panel and conduit and wiring to the Pump Alarm Panel. If you have no room or load capacity in your existing breaker box or have fuses, the project will install a new Main Service panel next to the electric meter. New panel will provide power supply to existing panel and Pump Alarm Panel.

Preliminary design will include every house to be assessed by engineer to identify: Location of septic system Location and type of existing power supply/meter Basement type Any basement service Type of property Individual grinder pumps Alarm panel/pump visible from street Alarm/shutoff adjacent to grinder pump As close as feasible to existing bldg. sewer and house

Pump and control panel will be owned and maintained by the Sewer District No. 3 Town will need easements from each property owner: Temporary easement for installation of grinder pumps Permanent easement for grinder pump maintenance and repair Routine pump maintenance between 8 to 10 years
