3 1 ZONE END WIRING m Standard Electro-Fence The Electro-Fence should be wired as shown below. The output from the controller should be connected to the top wire (wire 1) and then wire 24 should be connected to the controller input. All earth wires are connected in parallel at each end of the zone and at each end section or corner section. The warning signs must be fitted across two earth wires. Page 1

4 m High Security Electro-Fence The Electro-Fence should be wired as shown below. The H.V. output from the controller should be connected to wire 1 and the L.V. output should be connected to wire 2. Wire 24 should be connected to the controller H.V. input and wire 25 should be connected to the L.V input. Page 2

5 m Electro-Fence The Electro-Fence should be wired as shown below. The output from the controller should be connected to the top wire (wire 1) and then wire 31 should be connected to the controller input. 6 m High Security Electro-Fence The Electro-Fence should be wired as shown below. The H.V. output from the controller should be connected to wire 1 and the L.V. output should be connected to wire 2. 7 m Standard Wall Top On wall toppings, the top and bottom wires of the Electro-Fence are high voltage wires. Wire 1 connects to the controller output and wire 11 is connected to the controller input m High Security Wall Top The H.V. output from the controller should be connected to wire 1 and the L.V. output connected to wire 2. Wire 11 should be connected the to controller H.V. and wire 10 to the L.V. input. Page 5

8 2 GATE WIRING The gate switch should be fitted as close to the locking bolt as possible as this point should have the least movement when the gate is closed. The gate should be wired as shown below so that when the gate is opened the voltage is removed from the zone except for the top wire which is the feed from the controller. When wiring the earth wire on the gate, it is only necessary to connect the earth wires in parallel at the hinge side of the gate. The earth must be continued from one side of the gate to the other using EF-400 lead out cable fitted in a protective conduit and buried in the ground under the gate. 2.1 SINGLE LEAF GATE 2.2 DOUBLE LEAF GATE Page 6

9 3 ELECTRO-FENCE CONTROLLERS 3.1 TYPE EF102, EF122 DUAL ZONE High Voltage (HV) Fence connections. (EF102 and EF122) Connect the earth stakes to the black Fence Earth terminal. Connect the high voltage fence loop for Zone 1 to terminals HV1 OUT and HV1 IN. Terminal HV1 OUT is the High Voltage Output terminal and this connects to the top high voltage fence wire. Terminal HV1 IN is the High Voltage Input terminal and this connects to the bottom high voltage fence wire. The high voltage fence loop for Zone 2 connects to terminals HV2 OUT and HV2 IN. HV Alarm output connections All the alarm outputs are normally closed volt free relay contacts. HV1 ALARM Alarm relay output for HV Zone 1. HV2 ALARM Alarm relay output for HV Zone 2. TAMPER Box tamper microswitch output. POWER FAIL Mains fail relay output. Note, when the controller is switched off the HV alarm relays will be open and will rest within 3 seconds of the controller being switched on provided that the fence is clear and not in alarm. If the controller is connected to a standard intruder alarm panel then the alarm panel inputs should be set as access zones with a delay time of 5 seconds. This is to allow the HV alarm relays time to close. Page 7

10 Control input (HV on/off) The controller will switch on and start pulsing when 12VDC is applied to the CONTROL INPUT. Make sure that the polarity is correct as the controller will not switch on if the polarity is incorrect. The 12VDC can be supplied from the Set/Unset output of the alarm panel, from the auxiliary 12V output or a separate power supply unit using a key switch. HV Alarm Voltage Setting When the HV voltage on the fence is reduced below the HV alarm voltage setting then the pulse counter starts to count missing pulses. When the set number of missing pulses are counted, the alarm will be activated. Switches 1 and 2 are used to set the voltage as follows: HV VOLTAGE S1 S2 2KV OFF OFF 3KV ON OFF 4KV OFF ON Page 8

11 Pulse Count Setting The number of missing pulses is set using S3 and S4 as follows: PULSES S3 S4 1 ON OFF 2 OFF ON 3 OFF OFF HV LED Indicators There are 6 LED test indicators located on the PCB. The function of each indicator is as follows: HV1 ALARM This will be lit when HV Zone 1 is in alarm and when the controller is switched off. HV2 ALARM This will be lit when HV Zone 2 is in alarm and when the controller is switched off. OK1 This will pulse if the controller is switched on and the voltage on the HV1 In terminal is greater that the alarm voltage setting showing that the fence is working OK. It will not flash if the fence is in alarm. OK2 This will pulse if the controller is switched on and the voltage on the HV2 In terminal is greater that the alarm voltage setting showing that the fence is working OK. It will not flash if the fence is in alarm. Power This will be lit if the mains power is present. If the mains fails then the LED will go out and the Power fail relay will open. Pulse This will pulse when the controller is switched on showing that the energiser is producing the high voltage. The Pulse LED is located near the top right of the PCB. Page 9

12 3.2 Low Voltage (LV) Fence connections. (EF122 only) Connect the LV EARTH wire onto the LV EARTH terminal on the HV PCB. Connect the low voltage fence loop for LV Zone 1 to terminals LV1 OUT and LV1 IN. Terminal LV1 OUT is the Low Voltage Output terminal and this connects to the top low voltage fence wire. Terminal LV1 IN is the Low Voltage Input terminal and this connects to the bottom low voltage fence wire. The low voltage fence loop for Zone 2 connects to terminals LV2 OUT and LV2 IN. LV Alarm output connections All the alarm outputs are normally closed volt free relay contacts. LV1 ALARM Alarm relay output for LV Zone 1. LV2 ALARM Alarm relay output for LV Zone 2. Page 10

13 LV LED Indicators The function of each indicator is as follows: LV1 ALARM This will be lit when LV Zone 1 is in alarm. HV2 ALARM This will be lit when LV Zone 2 is in alarm. The alarm will activate under the following conditions 1. A short between an HV wire and an LV wire 2. An LV wire is cut 3. A short between an LV wire and earth Page 11

14 3.3 Type EF106 6 Zone Connections ALARM VOLTAGE SETTING The fence voltage at which the pulse counter starts to count is set using switches 1 and 2 as follows: VOLTAGE S1 S2 2KV OFF OFF 3KV ON OFF 4KV OFF ON PULSE COUNT SETTING The number of pulses below the alarm voltage is set using switches 3 and 4 as follows: PULSES S3 S4 2 ON OFF 3 OFF ON 4 OFF OFF ALARM OUTPUTS All alarm outputs are normally closed dry contacts. CONTROL INPUT In order to activate the energiser, an external 12VDC input must be applied to the control input. This can be supplied from the auxiliary 12V output of the control panel via a keyswitch. Page 12
