5 About this document Applicable documents 1 1 About this document Goal and purpose This document describes the special application of the FS720 fire detection system in high-vibration environments such as ships, wind turbines or drilling platforms. This document can be used to plan and install an MED-compliant FS720 fire detection system. Scope The information contained in this document is valid for use in a maritime environment. The software version of the fire detection installation is and the marine BDV. Target groups The information in this document is intended for the following target groups: Target group Activity Qualification Project Manager Coordinates the deployment of all persons and resources involved in the project according to schedule. Provides the information required to run the project. Project engineer Sets parameters for product depending on specific national and/or customer requirements. Checks operability and approves the product for commissioning at the place of installation. Is responsible for trouble-shooting. 10 2 Safety Safety instructions 2 Safety 2.1 Safety instructions The safety notices must be observed in order to protect people and property. It warns of risks of injury. Follow all measures identified by this symbol to avoid injury or death. 12 2 Safety Safety regulations for the method of operation 2.2 Safety regulations for the method of operation National standards, regulations and legislation Siemens products are developed and produced in compliance with the relevant European and international safety standards. Should additional national or local safety standards or legislation concerning the planning, mounting, installation, operation or disposal of the product apply at the place of operation, then these must also be taken into account together with the safety regulations in the product documentation. Should additional safety standards from the ship's classification societies or legislation concerning planning, mounting, installation, operation or disposal apply, then these must also be taken into account together with the safety regulations in the product documentation. Electrical installations WARNING Electrical voltage Electric shock Work on electrical installations may only be carried out by qualified electricians or by instructed persons working under the guidance and supervision of a qualified electrician, in accordance with the electrotechnical regulations. Wherever possible disconnect products from the power supply when carrying out commissioning, maintenance or repair work on them. Lock volt-free areas to prevent them being switched back on again by mistake. Label the connection terminals with external external voltage using a 'DANGER External voltage' sign. Route mains connections to products separately and fuse them with their own, clearly marked fuse. Fit an easily accessible disconnecting device in accordance with IEC outside the installation. Produce earthing as stated in local safety regulations. CAUTION Noncompliance with the following safety regulations Risk of injury to persons and damage to property Compliance with the following regulations is required. Specialist electrical engineering knowledge is required for installation. Only an expert is permitted to carry out installation work. Incorrect installation can take safety devices out of operation unbeknown to a layperson

13 Safety Safety regulations for the method of operation 2 Mounting, installation, commissioning and maintenance If you require tools such as a ladder, these must be safe and must be intended for the work in hand. When starting the fire control panel ensure that unstable conditions cannot arise. Ensure that all points listed in the 'Testing the product operability' section below are observed. You may only set controls to normal function when the product operability has been completely tested and the system has been handed over to the customer. Testing the product operability Prevent the remote transmission from triggering erroneously. If testing building installations or activating devices from third-party companies, you must collaborate with the people appointed. The activation of fire control installations for test purposes must not cause injury to anyone or damage to the building installations. The following instructions must be observed: Use the correct potential for activation; this is generally the potential of the building installation. Only check controls up to the interface (relay with blocking option). Make sure that only the controls to be tested are activated. Inform people before testing the alarm devices and allow for possible panic responses. Inform people about any noise or mist which may be produced. Before testing the remote transmission, inform the corresponding alarm and fault signal receiving stations. Modifications to the system design and the products Modifications to the system and to individual products may lead to faults, malfunctioning and safety risks. Written confirmation must be obtained from Siemens and the corresponding safety bodies for modifications or additions. Modules and spare parts Components and spare parts must comply with the technical specifications defined by Siemens. Only use products specified or recommended by Siemens. Only use fuses with the specified fuse characteristics. Wrong battery types and improper battery changing lead to a risk of explosion. Only use the same battery type or an equivalent battery type recommended by Siemens. Batteries must be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. Observe national guidelines and regulations. Disregard of the safety regulations Before they are delivered, Siemens products are tested to ensure they function correctly when used properly. Siemens disclaims all liability for damage or injuries caused by the incorrect application of the instructions or the disregard of danger warnings contained in the documentation. This applies in particular to the following damage: Personal injuries or damage to property caused by improper use and incorrect application Personal injuries or damage to property caused by disregarding safety instructions in the documentation or on the product Personal injury or damage to property caused by poor maintenance or lack of maintenance 13 56

14 2 Safety Standards and directives complied with 2.3 Standards and directives complied with A list of the standards and directives complied with is available from your Siemens contact SOLAS 74 and MED These Siemens products were developed in compliance with the 'Marine Equipment Directive (MED)'. In addition to this marine equipment directive, the following convention for system installations on ships must also be complied with: 'SOLAS 74', the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea. NOTICE Failure to observe standards, directives and conventions System is not accepted. Call in an expert for the entire project to handle compliance with the above standards, directives and conventions. 2.4 Release Notes Limitations to the configuration or use of devices in a fire detection installation with a particular firmware version are possible. WARNING Limited or non-existent fire detection Personal injury and damage to property in the event of a fire. Read the 'Release Notes' before you plan and/or configure a fire detection installation. Read the 'Release Notes' before you carry out a firmware update to a fire detection installation. NOTICE Incorrect planning and/or configuration Important standards and specifications are not satisfied. Fire detection installation is not accepted for commissioning. Additional expense resulting from necessary new planning and/or configuration. Read the 'Release Notes' before you plan and/or configure a fire detection installation. 24 3 System overview Mounting kit (marine) 3.5 Mounting kit (marine) The mounting kit (marine) FHA2035-A1 is used to fasten a fire control panel in a housing (Comfort) to a wall without vibrations and to shield against EMC influences. The mounting kit (marine) consists of the following components which are supplied as a complete package: Damping kit for wall mounting Inductive EMC filter set Mounting plate FHA2007-A1 for EMC shielding Battery mounting set Cable kit (not shown) MED sticker (not shown) 24 56

You will find further and detailed information about planning in document A6V You will find detailed technical information about the components in document A6V See the chapter 'Applicable documents [ 7]'. 4.1 Marine environmental conditions The requirements according to IEC (2001) Electrical installations in ships Part 504 Special features; Control and instrumentation - are tested and approved with the mounting kit (marine). The IP22 protection class required by marine standards is not satisfied by the FS720/FS20 housing. CAUTION Failure to comply with IP22 for FS720/FS20 housing Personal injury due to fire detection installation failure Fit an additional housing around the FS720/FS20 housing which satisfies IP22. For the Marine sector, use only devices in accordance with 'Available C-NET devices [ 22]'. Emergency power supply The fire detection installation must be equipped in accordance with DNV GL for the following requirements: For cargo ships Independent supply of the 'Fire detection and alarm system' including all activated alarming equipment for 18 hours For passenger ships Independent supply of the 'Fire detection and alarm system' including all activated alarming equipment for 36 hours Acoustic alarms Depending on the place of installation of the acoustic alarming equipment, the alarming equipment must be activated either with or without a delay in the event of an alarm. You will find more information on this in chapter 'Acoustic alarming equipment [ 49]'

27 Planning Guidelines 4 Display and handling of error messages All error messages must be displayed visually and acoustically. In general, error messages must be acknowledged by pressing <Acknowledge>. In addition to being acknowledged, certain event categories must also be reset by pressing <Reset>. If the 'FAULT' LED on the Person Machine Interface of the fire control panel is lighted, the error must be acknowledged. If the 'System Fault' LED is also illuminated, then the error must be acknowledged and reset. The following table shows the event categories with the respective response to the error according to the marine equipment directive. This operating principle is specified in the system and cannot be configured. All cables satisfy the IEC requirements in terms of flammability. The cables used must be shielded and twisted in pairs. Wherever possible do not use stranded cables. If stranded cables are used, cable end sleeves must be used. Networking cables must be routed separately from detector lines. Shielding must be connected to the housing. Housings must be grounded. Mimic display driver FT2001A1 may be installed only in an ESD-protected housing. Preventing the transmission of vibrations To prevent the transmission of vibrations, the following installation guidelines must be observed: Do not secure installation pipes on the housing itself. Cables must be individually routed into the housing. Cables must be routed into the housing in loops

28 4 Planning Guidelines Mimic display driver FT2001-A1 The buzzer at a 'Station' may only be switched off locally with the command 'Silence buzzer'. It must not be possible to switch off the buzzer at a 'Station' from another 'Station'. To achieve this, each fire control panel and each fire terminal must have a mimic display driver FT2001-A1 that is connected to a customer-specific display device. Alarms and faults can be displayed on the display acoustically and visually via the mimic display driver. The display must have a buzzer. The buzzer on the display may only be switched off locally with a command at the display. It must not be possible to switch off the buzzer via the 'Station'. Configure the mimic display driver in such a way that all alarms and faults are displayed on the display. All mimic display drivers must be configured the same way. Mimic display driver FT2001A1 may be installed only in an ESD-protected housing. Screw the two spacer bolts (9) into the threaded holes (10) on rear panel to the left of the periphery board. 3. Screw one counternut (8) onto each spacer bolt (9). 4. Screw the fork heads (7) onto the spacer bolts (9) and fix them in a horizontal position (in accordance with the figure) using the counternut (8). 5. Insert the mounting plate (4) with the hinge brackets (6) into the fork heads (7) so that the fastening clamps (11) can be inserted into the fork heads from above as shown. 6. Swivel the fastening clamps (11) backwards so that they snap in place in the spacer bolts (9) (see [13] in figure). 7. Swivel the mounting plate (4) over the periphery board and fix it in the spacer bolts (2) with the fixing screws (3, 5). 8. If the mounting plate is not true, the fork heads can be adjusted with the counternuts (8) (loosen the fastening clamps and remove the mounting plate)

Note how the filter is oriented (line at top). 2. Fasten the prepared filter by clipping the clips onto the DIN rail from above. Existing mains separator terminals may have to be moved to the side. 3. Check that installation is correct. 5.6 Installing battery mounting set 1. Align the L profile (4) centrally on the batteries and screw down to the threaded rods with two nuts and washers. 6.
