3 Belleville, Ontario Page 3 of 10.1 Provide operation and maintenance data for Fire Alarm System incorporation into manual..2 Include:.1 Operation and maintenance instructions for complete fire alarm system to permit effective operation and maintenance..2 Technical data - illustrated parts lists with parts catalogue numbers..3 Copy of approved shop drawings. 1.7 QUALITY CONTROL.1 Perform tests in accordance with CAN/ULC-S Fire alarm system:.1 Test each device and alarm circuit to ensure manual stations, thermal and smoke detectors transmit alarm to control panel and actuate general alarm ancillary devices..2 Check annunciator panels to ensure zones are shown correctly..3 Simulate grounds and breaks on alarm and signaling circuits to ensure proper operation of trouble signals..4 Manufacturer's verification is to be performed on the complete fire alarm system, including all existing devices and connections. This subcontractor is responsible to provide a complete and operational system acceptable to the engineer and local authorities..5 Include independent system verification to validate programming of addressable system. All costs are to be included in the contract..4 Training: After system is fully functional, manufacturer s representative to Provide 4 hours of on-site staff training. 1.8 WARRANTY.1 Provide one year free maintenance with two inspections by manufacturer during year. Inspection tests to conform to ULC-S536. Submit inspection report to Consultant. 2 PRODUCTS

Operation of any alarm initiating device to:.1 Cause audible signal devices to sound throughout building..2 Transmit signal to station alarm system..3 Cause zone of alarm device to be indicated on control panel and remote annunciator panels on a LED display..4 Cause designated air conditioning and ventilating fans to shut down or to function so as to provide required control of smoke movement..5 Cause fire doors and smoke control doors if normally held open, to close automatically..6 Capability to program smoke detector status change confirmation on any or all zones in accordance with CAN/ULC-S527, Appendix C.

5 Belleville, Ontario Page 5 of 10.7 Cause identify of device in alarm to be indicated on control panel and remote communicator panels on a LCD..8 Combination Smoke and Fire Damper Control Module: This module shall provide control and status tracking of a Form "C" contact. The two-wire signaling line circuit shall supply power and communications to the module. Module shall be used for the control and operation of the smoke dampers as indicated on the drawings. Addressable control relays are Form C Dry contact type. Electrical contractor to provide a double pole double throw contactor for operation of the 120V AC Damper/s. 2.3 CONTROL PANEL ANNUNCIATOR.1 Class A alarm circuits and signal circuits..1 One stage operation..2 Zoned..3 Non-coded..4 Addressable.5 Supervised, modular design with plug-in modules:.6 Alarm receiver with trouble and alarm indications provision for remote supervised annunciation, for class.7 Spare zones will be compatible with smoke detectors and open circuit devices..8 Space for future modules. Control panel will have 32 zone total capacity..9 Latching type supervisory receiver circuits. Discrete indication for both off-normal and trouble..2 Components:.1 Two stage alarm pulse rate panels:.2 Two stage stroke control type for output to signal control panel continuously..3 Audible signal control panel with control circuits complete with terminals for wiring and plug-in modules for ac signals up to 2.0 A load with trouble indication with class B connections..3 Common control and power units:.1 Control panel containing following indications and controls:.1 "Power on" LED (green) to monitor primary source of power to system..2 "Power trouble" indication..3 "Ground trouble" indication..4 "Remote annunciator trouble" indication.

If new alarm occurs after signals have been silenced, signals to resound..10 Remote Station Module..11 Master power supply panel to provide 24 V dc to system from 120 V ac, 60 Hz input..12 Auxiliary relays: plug-in type, dust cover, supervised against unauthorized removal by common trouble circuit and c/w individual bypass switch..13 Contacts: 2.0 A, 24V dc or 120V ac, for functions such as release of door holders or initiation of fan shut down..14 Contact terminal size: capable of accepting AWG wire. 2.4 REMOTE ANNUNCIATOR PANEL PASSIVE GRAPHIC..1 LED and LCD display. Audible trouble indication and silencing switch..2 Enclosure: Flush mounted EEMAC 1 enclosure, complete with lockable, concealed hinged door. Full viewing window, flush lock and 2 keys..3 Passive graphic is to have a stainless steel frame with glass cover to be located near the annunciator panel at main entrance to the Building. This graphic shall indicate all floors, zones and you are here 2.5 POWER SUPPLY.1 120V AC, 60 Hz input, 24Vdc output from rectifier to operate alarm and signal circuits, with standby power of gell cell batteries minimum expected life of 4 years, sized in accordance with OBC.

Addressable modules to take the normally open or normally closed contact signal from a device and register an address and indicate a zone alarm or supervisory signal as required for devices such as non addressable heat detectors, sprinkler flow switches, sprinkler valve limit switches sprinkler pressure switches and related devices. The addressable module is also to supervise the wiring connection between itself and the contact. 2.7 MANUAL ALARM STATIONS.1 Manual alarm stations: Addressable 2-stage, pull lever, wall mounted semi-flush type, non-coded single pole normally open contact for single stage operation. Identification in English..2 Manual alarm stations will be weatherproof where exposed to the elements and exterior environments. 2.8 AUTOMATIC ALARM INITIATING DEVICES.1 Heat detectors, addressable, fixed temperature and rate of rise non-restorable, rated 92 C...2 Heat detectors, addressable, fixed temperature and rate of rise non-restorable, rated 57 C..3 Heat detectors, addressable, fixed temperature, non-restorable, rated 57 C..4 Heat detectors, addressable, fixed temperature, non-restorable, rated 92 C..5 Thermal fire detectors, addressable, combination fixed temperature and rate of rise, non-restorable fixed temperature element, self-restoring rate of rise, fixed temperature 57 C, rate of rise 8.3 C per minute..6 Non addressable heat detectors are to be used in the elevator shaft and they are to be connected to addressable modules.

Duct detectors tubes shall be of sufficient length to traverse duct..2 Twistlock Plug-in type with fixed base..3 Wire-in base assembly with integral red alarm LED, and terminals for remote relay alarm LED SMOKE DETECTOR.1 Photo Electric Type..2 Tamper Proof..3 Visual alarm indication..4 Field adjustable sensitivity..5 Twist Lock Wire in base assembly..6 Addressable 2.11 AUDIO/VISUAL SIGNAL DEVICES.1 Horns & Strobe Combination-90db at 10-0 to ULC requirements in semi recessed boxes END-OF-LINE DEVICES.1 End-of-line devices to control supervisory current in alarm circuits and signalling circuits, sized to ensure correct supervisory current for each circuit. Open, short or ground fault in any circuit will alter supervisory current in that circuit, producing audible and visible alarm at main control panel and remotely as indicated.

9 Belleville, Ontario Page 9 of LEGENDS AND DIAGRAMS.1 Fire alarm system riser diagram: in glazed frame on black lamacoid sheet with beveled edges, white lettering and designations, minimum size 600 x 600 mm. Install this diagram adjacent to the fire alarm control panel in the main electrical room..2 Legends shall be typewritten and complete. 3 EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION.1 Install systems in accordance with CAN/ULC-S524 and DFC-410(M)..2 Install new main control panel in existing enclosure in the existing electrical room..3 Install remote annunciators in new main entrance vestibule ant at care centres..4 Install passive graphics beside remote annunciators and control panel..5 Provide telephone conduit 25mm (1") directly to telephone backboard for connection by monitoring company..6 Locate and install detectors and connect to alarm circuit wiring. Do not mount detectors within 1 m of air outlets..7 Maintain at least 600 mm radius clear space on ceiling, below and around detectors..8 Locate and install horns and visual signal devices and connect to signalling circuits..9 Connect signalling circuits to main control panel. Provide a minimum of 2 signalling circuits. Alternate devices to each circuit.
