1 ELECTRICAL INSPECTION BULLETIN (Effective ) B-B1-001 NS Power Electrical Inspection Business This bulletin has been issued to provide useful service and directory information related to the business of Electrical Inspection performed by Nova Scotia Power. The Electrical Inspection services provided are made available through a Wiring Permit Processing Center and approximately seventeen Wiring Inspectors working from regional field offices. Offices are open for business between the hours of 7:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday with the exception of holidays and weekends. Wiring Permits: Electrical Contractors may contact a customer service representative at our Wiring Permit Processing Center to obtain any of the following business services - Request for Wiring Permit Request and schedule Wiring Inspection Establish a billing account for Wiring Permits Request information related to the schedule of fees Report certificate or license renewal Inquire about account balance Change a mailing address Inquire about over charged bills for Wiring Permits Inquire about job status The contact phone numbers to obtain the above services is, Province-Wide: Toll-Free, , or (within local calling area of Halifax) Billing: Wiring Permit billing account statements are issued in the mail on a monthly basis. Bill payments may be made at any payment agent across the province by cheque, cash, money order, interact direct payment, or directly debited from bank account through an automatic payment plan. Account balance inquiries and change of mailing address should be directed to the Wiring Permit Processing Centre contact numbers - Province-Wide: Toll-Free, , or (within local calling area of Halifax) Wiring Inspection Technical Matters: Electrical Contractors are expected to contact a Wiring Inspector servicing the applicable Inspection Area to obtain the following information services related to inquiries of a technical nature that are general or that pertain to a particular job - Interpretation and compliance requirements of the Canadian Electrical Code and the NS Power Electrical Inspection Bulletins Electrical plans, drawings and specifications Approved and certified equipment Page 1 of 6 Date: November 1 st 2013 (Supersedes ) B-B1-001

2 When deemed necessary, a Wiring Inspector shall consult with the NS Power Chief Electrical Inspector, regarding technical matters which may require clarification to Code or Bulletin interpretation, and also regarding situations which will require dispute resolution. After first contact has been established by an Electrical Contractor with a Wiring Inspector on such technical matters, the contractor may further discuss the concern with the NS Power Chief Electrical Inspector.
