5 Lighting Today you have wall switches for ceiling lights, foot switches for standard lamps, switches for table lamps and lots of more switches. You might want different lighting when you re watching TV than while you re eating or working. This means you have to go to the switches every time, turn them on, and then back off again. But there are comfortable, convenient ways of doing that. In your Smart Home you can set your own lighting scenarios, for example for watching TV or eating, or when you need maximum lighting. At just the touch of a button, you can switch all of the lights that make up a scenario on or off in one go, set them to the desired intensity, and soon you will even be able to change the lighting colour. You will be able to develop your own creative ideas, integrating picture lights, lights on shelving or lights in glass cabinets into your lighting design. New light sources will allow you to create interesting lighting objects as artistic elements to decorate your home. You can integrate them all together into your own scenarios and turn them all on or off in the simplest of ways. Cutting out disturbing light sources is also an important part of lighting control. If it's too bright for watching television, then choose the TV scenario and the blinds will be altered to a suitable position. There s more to lighting than just light. Create your own pleasant lighting scenarios. 4

7 Centralised control While you're in bed, just the touch of a button is all you need to create lighting wherever you need it most. This can also be done gradually, with the option of dimmed lighting. The blinds are rolled up and the coffee machine can already start working. The alarm system that has watched over you at night switches to day mode. Meanwhile, your home has been getting everything ready for you. The bathroom is nice and warm. During the day, if you're not in a room, then it won't be heated. But after you finish work, you can come home to a comfortable and cosy living room. But what if you have to get out of bed at night? You can switch on muted lighting in the hallway and bathroom itself before you even get up. You don t need really bright lights that will only make it harder for you to get back into slumber mode. When you leave the house, with just one touch of a button all the devices will be safely turned off, for example the coffee machine, the oven or the iron, and all the lights. Don t worry, your fridge will stay on. You can also turn down the heating at the same time. The switch for the all-off function is located next to the front door. You will also find it on our app on your smartphone, and can operate it from there. It's always a good feeling when you know everything is switched off. Technically speaking, the all-off function is just one more scenario and is an example of how you can control not only the lights, but virtually all other electrical devices in house, garden and garage. This includes roller shutters and blinds, awnings or socket outlets for the garden, which will only have power supplied to them when somebody is at home. On top of all this, you can also include air conditioning (heating), audio and the alarm system in your customised scenarios. 6

9 Audio Radio and music throughout the house, whatever way you like it. In each room you can define what radio station (FM) you want to listen to, or opt for another music source. That source can be a central one, i.e. it might be your hi-fi system, the TV or Internet radio. You can even stream music using Bluetooth, e.g. from an ipod or Smartphone. To listen to music in a room, simply choose the source and adjust the volume. Of course you can also turn it off entirely. Music is controlled via a control panel with touch sensors, with the same design as the other switches. Everything can be linked together in scenarios. A few examples: when watching TV, at the push of a button you can define the ideal lighting and transfer the TV sound to the bathroom or kitchen, as required. When you get up in the morning, you can listen to breakfast radio in every room you enter. When the house is empty, sound can be used to simulate presence. If you are not at home and your movement sensors detect movement, your virtual dog will bark. On the balcony, the veranda or in the garden you can have music without needing to lug around any equipment. There are also various options for using the alarm clock function with timer. If you like, you can wake up to the sound of music, and at the same time the light will gradually switch and the shutters will be raised somewhat. In addition to just using the keypad in the house, the audio system can also be controlled using our web app. Of course, it offers hi-fi stereo quality even at long range (cable length) with the appropriate system architecture. 8

11 Heating and air conditioning Cosy warmth in winter, and pleasantly cool in summer. That costs energy and, therefore, money. Air conditioning is the highest energy cost in a house. All the more reason to use energy as efficiently as possible while achieving the desired level of comfort. ONLY Smart Home provides the appropriate controls for heating systems with boilers and radiators, underfloor heating, air flow systems and various air conditioning systems. The combination possibilities are particularly efficient. For example heating and air conditioning can work in conjunction to bring a room up to the desired warmth level quickly, thus avoiding lengthy initial heating phases. Other examples of combinations are: In summer, the shutters can automatically close if no one is present and the sunlight is making the room too warm. Of course, each room can be controlled individually. In winter, you might open the window in the bathroom to let some fresh air in. It's only hours later that you remember to close it. So the bathroom is freezing cold. This is all the more frustrating when the radiator is on, fighting an uphill battle against the cold and wasting lots of energy. In a Smart Home the heating is automatically turned off when a window is open. What s even smarter and also a possibility is that after a few minutes you can have the window close automatically. Like all other ONLY switches, the programmable thermostats can all be installed as flush mounted switches with movement sensors. A module with an OLED display manages the timetables for each thermostat. The integration of presence detectors will also result in further energy savings. Of course, you can control the air conditioning remotely using your smartphone via the Internet. In conjunction with the ONLY alarm system you can also control it using a simple telephone no need for an Internet connection. When you go on holiday, set the heating to a minimum and before you come home, simply select your desired temperature. You will be returning to a cosy and comfortable home. 10

13 Hotel "ONLY-Hotel" is a product line specifically designed for hotels to control lighting, temperature and audio. It s all about providing maximum comfort for your guests while reducing overheads and improving your CO2 footprint. Something that not just 5 star hotels are interested in. In the rooms, the system enables the control of lighting (including dimming), blinds, temperature and audio using customer-friendly, programmable switches for increased comfort. Just a few of the parameters that can be controlled centrally are optimum, minimum, and maximum temperature. You can also turn the air conditioning on or off, or set the lighting to a specific scenario when the guest enters the room. When the room is empty, most devices are switched off. More scenarios are available to the guest at the touch of a button, without needing to switch on or off every light in the room: watching TV, reading in bed or complete lighting. It is even possible for a guest to control the room with their smartphone just their own room, of course. ONLY also enables the smart control of lighting and temperature in communal areas, to keep energy consumption to a minimum. Our audio system has an automatic volume control, so that the volume doesn t need to be adjusted manually when a different song is played. Rooms and whole floors can be individually controlled and secured. This means you can prevent a complete failure of the system. Because every hotel is unique, all solutions are custom designed. The ONLY solution is typically used in conjunction with BMS software. 12

15 ONLY Web-App ONLY Smart Home can, of course, also be controlled remotely using the app. So you can view the status of all connected devices and check sensors, such as those for temperature or open windows, from a distance. You can open or close shutters and set the heating. Perhaps you'd like to open the garage door before you arrive on your way home? Everything you do at home can also be done remotely. But our app offers even more: If you have webcams installed, you can access them using the app. Your webcams don t even have to be connected to the Internet. They just need to be internally connected in the home LAN network. The web-based app uses new HTML5 technology and what is known as "adaptive design". It works on all devices with HTML5 browsers without requiring any further installations. Not just smartphones, be they ios, Android or Windows. All tablets, computers, smarttvs, and even the first Smart watches and on-board car computers support HTML5. Whatever device you use, the app will adapt to the respective monitor, from small to large and extra-large. You can define individual settings for each app user depending on what they use it for. You can even define what devices they can control. The user is only given the control they need. Everything else is not accessible. The app is barrier free. The interface screen can be significantly enlarged without becoming cluttered. Users with colour vision impairment can adjust the colour settings accordingly. So that only you and no one else can control your house with the web app, we have also included some really smart security measures. See further below in this brochure for more details. 14

17 Protected Privacy Hackers Fire, Gas, Water Data leeches Burglars Data leeches, hackers and even "classic" burglars won't get their hands on anything in your Smart Home. In terms of security, ONLY also provides protection against fire, gas or water damage. This is all part of our concept of security. Data leech blocks: no-one can spy on your private life. Protection against hackers: hackers will not get into your Smart Home. Ward off burglars: Classic, "physical" break-ins can be prevented. Alarms in the event of fire, gas, water hazards: your Smart Home is always awake and will trigger the alarm. How this works is described on the following pages. 16

19 Presence simulation ONLY is committed to keeping your private sphere safe. It goes without saying that this also includes effective deterrents for burglars. It's not just the theft you have to worry about, but also the psychological stress of knowing a stranger was in your house, poking around. To make sure this doesn t happen, ONLY offers the possibility of configuring your security in two stages. The first stage is a smart presence simulation; the second is a professional alarm system. With presence simulation the lights are switched on and off in the individual rooms, so it looks like somebody is at home. The shutters will be closed in the evening and rolled up in the morning. If these actions always take place at the same time, however, then that won t really discourage a burglar. On the contrary, they actually show that no one is at home. Our smart presence simulation adds a time changing feature. The times are automatically calculated based on the astronomical sunrise and sunset times. They are also randomly moved around so it really looks like there is somebody at home. So, for example, the light in the living room will come on between 0 to 60 minutes after sunset and will remain on for 120 to 240 minutes. The roller shutters will open between 0 and 60 minutes after sunrise, but not before 7 o'clock in the morning. All of the settings can be adjusted using the app. The algorithms are already stored and you only need to indicate which devices you want to include in the presence simulation. Apart from an IP gateway, this will not require any additional hardware or an alarm system. An alarm system, however, will offer additional functionalities, as shown on the following page. 18

21 Alarm system Your house can take care of itself, even when you are not there. And even when you are at home, it provides additional security. You too can achieve this with the ONLY security system, an optional part of the Smart Home product line. The alarm is not just for the event of a burglary or to scare off burglars. It is also immediately triggered in hazardous incidents involving gas, water damage, fire or smoke. First of all, the alarm goes off in the house, and then up to eight telephone numbers can be contacted, leaving voice or text messages. If you have installed webcams, you can remotely access them with the ONLY app to see what is going on. If a break-in triggers a siren to put the neighbourhood on guard, then you can be sure there really is a break-in. The system offers the "double detection" option. Regardless of the situation, telephone notification will take place upon first detection. Of course it would be even better if it doesn't even come to a break-in. The freely programmable presence simulation system will see to that. Lights, music and shutters will be go on and off, or up and down, at different times, just as if somebody was at home. If the smoke detectors go off at night, then the lights will go on throughout the entire house and the shutters will open to allow access to all escape and rescue routes. Operation is very simple. You can activate scenarios in the house such as being away, arriving home or night mode with just the touch of a button. You can also do this over the telephone and via the app. Of course, this remote access includes smart security mechanisms. By the way, your household or home-owners insurance might well offer more favourable terms if you have installed our alarm system. 20

23 Internet Communications Most smart home systems are constantly transferring vast amounts of data from your home to a central server of the manufacturer. The data paints a detailed picture of your private life. The manufacturer, its marketing partners and affiliated dealers can send you individual customised offers, even if you don't want them. So with a smart home connection can be used to generate more revenue than the original cost of your system. A lucrative business. The reason for this central server is so that it can offer you, the user, to the possibility of checking and controlling your smart home system remotely via the app. Your smartphone app connects to the central server. The server then accesses your system and performs the tasks you have set. Convenient remote distance control also works with the smartphone, however, with no need for a central server. That is how ONLY Smart Home works. You communicate directly with your home, and there is no central server: Central Server App With ONLY Smart Home there is no connection to a central server provided by the manufacturer. Nevertheless, you, and only you, can control your home remotely. Instead of a central server, there is a direct connection (green arrow). No information is collected about you, neither in a central server, nor in the gateway at your home. Moreover, the communication between the app and your home is highly secure. 25 Data security A horrific situation: someone illegally enters your Smart Home system and terrorises you. They switch the lights on and off, turn the heating down to the minimum, and the music up to the maximum. The ONLY system prevents this. It offers the highest level of security in all areas, and in a worst case scenario you can easily turn off the IP gateway or unplug the power cable. Inside, your ONLY Smart Home remains fully functional, but it can no longer be controlled from the outside. Device connectivity: Devices are connected via cable to ONLY Smart Home system. Wireless connections are only used where they are the only option, such as for heating thermostats, or weather stations in the garden. In all other cases cable will be used. It is not possible to intercept cable connections externally, nor to access the devices wirelessly. Not every case of wireless interception is malicious or deliberate. If lots of your neighbours use wireless connections, mutual disturbances are always possible. The wireless-free option avoids electrosmog and there are no batteries in receivers and transmitters that need to be replaced. Cloud: In the ONLY system, there is no central server hosted with the manufacturer that is connected to all Smart Homes. This is because a central server is a much more attractive target for hackers than an individual single system. Time and again, hackers have successfully penetrated even well-protected central servers. Reports in the press of this are frequent, despite there being a significant number of unreported cases. Login: Logging on with a user name and password is the usual level of safety. If, however, an attacker randomly tries out various passwords, then the system can be insecure. The ONLY system provides secure login. The number of consecutive failed password attempts is limited, and a password meter helps you to set a secure password. Data transmission: Data transfers take place over the Internet. To ensure that no one else can read the data or send instructions to your Smart Home, all data transmission encrypted. The key automatically changes for each new connection. Device authentication: You can only access your Smart Home with your smartphone, tablet, or PC. It is not possible to do this from an unidentified device, even if the attacker knows your password, as not just the users, but also all devices must be registered. Device recognition is encrypted. User management: Each user has an individual account with individual customisable rights. This increases not only the level of security, but avoids unintentional misuse. If a user is not meant to configure anything, but only carry out simple functions, then they won t even see the configuration menus. The ONLY user administration is based on user administration systems commonly used in commercial applications with a large user base. Data storage: Smart home systems store vast amounts of data, illustrating what you did and when. If data is stored, then in theory, it can always be abused. As a matter of principle, data is not stored in the ONLY system. That is the most secure form of data protection. 24

27 Offline operation 100% protection is given when the Smart Home is not connected to the Internet at all. Here, there are two options: Internally only: The ONLY gateway can also work on the local LAN network only, without being accessible from the outside. Inside the house, a smartphone, tablet or TV can be used for remote control and the system can be configured easily on the home PC. It is not possible for anyone to access it from outside over the Internet. Completely offline: The ONLY architecture is not reliant on IP access availability. All devices will work without IP access. Scenarios can be set directly on the devices. If your Smart Home is not connected to the Internet, then of course you will no longer be able to reach it from outside via the Internet. It would be nice, however, if some functions, such as turning on the heater, were still possible from outside the house. That would allow you to switch on your heating from your holiday destination so that you arrive home to a comfortable home that is already warm. The ONLY System, these and some other features will also work without an Internet connection - you can simply use the phone if you like. The prerequisite is that you have installed the ONLY alarm system and have activated the function. 26

29 Design You have designed your house or apartment with a great deal of effort and have furnished it elegantly. So, all technical control elements need to match this. Wall switches and buttons must not only be functional, but also easy to operate. They should also harmonise with the rest of your home. Our system meets these requirements. Operating elements are reduced to a minimum so that they don t interfere with the interior style of your home. On the contrary: You will need fewer controls than for traditional cabling systems and those controls are elegantly designed and easy to use. All you need is a light touch to use controls; your commands are acknowledged by means of a brief and discreet light signal. If you prefer, you can also opt for controls with haptic tactile touch buttons. Usability is also guaranteed in the dark, without the control elements emitting any intrusive bright lights. The control surfaces are of a comfortable size. All elements, i.e. switches, programmable thermostats, security modules and multimedia controls feature the same design. You can individually select the colours and symbols for the keysfrom a large selection of icons. You can even design your own icons. We will happily look into further individual requests and implement them where technically feasible. With ONLY, technology becomes one of the highlights of your home. 28

33 Installation All you need for the ONLY system is one additional thin cable. It is a single-pole bus system, via which all devices and switches communicate with each other. A shield or additional opposite pole are not required. Transmission via the bus cable is safe and reliable. What does all this mean for installation in old or new buildings? Old buildings with old-style installation": with "old installations" you have three cables (phase, neutral, ground). A fourth cable would have to be added. This is mostly only practical if you are planning renovation work anyway. Old buildings with 4 cables: some more recent buildings already have one or more additional cables in the wiring, in addition to the 3 power cables. So installation is not a problem. ONLY Smart Home components fit into the traditional wall boxes and in the DIN rails of the fuse box. New buildings: when you build from scratch, money is often tight. Nevertheless, when laying cables, then it is imperative that leads with at least 4 poles are laid. The additional costs are minimal. You can, for example, start off by installing your Smart Home in the living room only and easily extend it later. 32

35 Programming Today, light switches are installed in Smart Home Panels. These are elegant-looking control panels with two or more buttons. With just one button, as per usual, you can turn on a light or comfortably switch on a scenario, for example simultaneously dimming the ceiling light and switching on a standard lamp and picture lighting, as well as the lighting in a glass display case. You yourself can define what you would like a button to do and you can change this again whenever you want. You can do this directly on the object, using a toothpick or or other fine instrument such as a pin. Most ONLY modules have a hidden programming key. You can reach it using the aforementioned instrument. Simply press the programming key on the ONLY modules for the lamps that you want to assign to a certain scenario. Then click on the switch panel in the control panel and set which switch panel switches those lights on and off. You can immediately see the effect your scenario creates and you can re-programme it any number of times. During operation, you only net to press the fixed switch panel in the control panel to switch the programmed lights on or off. Accidental reprogramming is prevented by the hidden positioning of the programming key. So you don't need a PC or any knowledge of software for programming. But you can also use our web app on the PC for programming. There you will have a clear visualisation of all connected devices in your home and can select scenarios. 34

37 Reliability You have set up and furnished your home all to your like and then a component fails. The light in the living room can no longer be switched on, or the shutter stays down. It does not have to be like that. Today, modern electronic components are so reliably built that they practically last forever. Unfortunately, such quality is not generally available on the market. Low-quality parts are frequently used and manufacturing often opts for the cheapest solutions. The device may work, but the smallest failure causes disruption and the risk of total failure increases with each passing day. In the end, the device is just more electronic waste. At ONLY, we take a different approach. As a manufacturer, we come from the automobile supplier industry.
