5 DESIGN AND FUNCTIONING 5.1 Design The panel consists of the following units: - enclosure; - Main control PCB (MC) with integral transformer board; - rechargeable battery (not supplied with the panel); - Keyboard and Indications PCB (BKI); - terminal block with fuse holder for connection to 220VAC supply; - mains power transformer. The panel s view is shown in Annex 1. For the enclosure s and mounting dimensions refer to Annex 2. The layout of units and PCBs inside the enclosure is shown in Annex 3. The layout and function of outgoing terminals blocks is shown in Annex Operation General overview The panel monitors statuses of 8 fire alarm loops. Depending on the zone current change, panel s condition and program settings, the panel goes to the state with corresponding specific optical indicators light, internal buzzer sounding, enablement of primary and auxiliary sounders, activation of other programmable outputs and relays. Also the panel provides alarm notifications and messages about FMS faults given connected communication appliances. The following statuses are provided by the panel: - «STANDBY»; - «ATTENTION»; - «FIRE»; - «ALARM»; - «FAULT»; - «DISABLEMENT»; - «AUTHORISED USER»; - «PROGRAMMING». Each zone regardless of others can be in the statuses «STANDBY», «FIRE», «S/C», «O/C», «DISABLEMENT», «ATTENTION». The light indicators are located on the front of the enclosure that indicate panel s modes and each loop status (see Appendix 5) Access levels Four access levels are available on the panel. Level 1 general user controls The access of unlimited number of persons is possible on level 1. The following controls are available on the level: testing of all LEDs and internal sounder (by pressing three times on the Test button); silencing the internal buzzer in Fire, Fault, Alarm modes (by pressing the Buzzer off button). Level 2 authorized user controls 9

The user access is limited by actions that do not require the use of a special tool or opening the panel s lid. The authorized user controls can be accessed by entering the access code. Each of 4 users has his unique code. The access code is the character chain from [1] to [8] with length from 1 to 8 characters. The access code is entered with [1] [8] buttons and confirmed by pressing the Select button. For default access codes for all users please refer to Section The following controls are available on the level: resetting Fire, Fault, Alarm, Attention modes; resetting all zones (temporal deenergising of all zones); disabling and enabling of separate zones; disabling and repeated enabling of sounders; disabling and repeated enabling of Fire output signal; disabling and repeated enabling of Fault output signal. Level 3 engineer controls (programming mode) Panel s parameters can be changed on the level. To gain access to the mode enter the engineer access code (factory default - [ ]) and press the Select button. The code is a string of numeric characters from [1] to [8], from 8 to 12 digits. Level 4 maintenance level Special auxiliary hardware and software are involved here (used at the factory or service centers) Programming possibilities The following objects can be configured in the programming mode: AL - AL type («Active», «Passive», «Combined», «ARTON-DL», «Elite»); - AL operation algorithm («With verification», «Without verification» «Two detectors»); - Record of each zone baseline current (if necessary, see. p.8.12); - Time of zone readiness after resetting or enabling (a value from the string 3 sec, 5 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 30 sec, 40 sec) - Zone verification time (a value from the string 5 min, 10 min, 15min, 20min); - Current growth threshold in a zone to determine an active detector trigger (from 1 to 16 mа in 1mA increment); - Current drop threshold in a zone to determine a passive detector trigger (from 1 to 16 mа in increment of 1 ma); Programmable outputs «AUX1» and «AUX2» - Functions of the outputs «AUX1», «AUX2» (4-wire zone power output (by default), additional sounder output or +12V auxiliary device power output); - Modes of the outputs «AUX1» and «AUX2». This parameter defines the outputs status in active and passive states; - Active time of the outputs «AUX1» and «AUX2» (from 2 sec to «no limit»); 10

- Activation conditions of outputs in the sounder mode (response to the status «FIRE», «FAULT» and/or «ATTENTION» in a zone, response to the general FAULT state); - Zone list involved in the activation condition of an output on AND/OR; - Types of output load control (only «S/C», only «O/C», «S/C» and «O/C», without load control). Relay outputs «Relay1» and «Relay2» - Relay modes. The parameter determines the relay status in active and passive states; - Relay active time (from 2 sec to «no limit»); - Relay activation conditions (response to the «FIRE», «FAULT» and/or «ATTENTION» in zone, реакция response to the general FAULT state); - Zone list involved in the activation condition of an output on AND/OR. Sounders (outputs «SND1» and «SND2») - Modes of the outputs «SND1» and «SND2». The parameter determines the output status in active and passive states; - Active time of the outputs «SND1» and «SND2» (from 2 sec to «no limit»); - Activation conditions of the outputs in the sounder mode (response to the «FIRE», «FAULT» and/or «ATTENTION» in zone, реакция response to the general FAULT state); - Zone list involved in the activation condition of an output on AND/OR; - Types of output load control (only «S/C», only «O/C», «S/C» and «O/C», without load control). Users - User s access code change (authorized user and engineer). The panel s configuration or parameters of separate zones can be reset to factory default settings in the programming mode. For the detailed description of the programming mode please refer to Section Alarm loops (AL) The following types of AL can be set on the panel: «Active». The panel responses only to the current growth in AL. The current growth in AL relative to the recorded baseline standby current on the established threshold value (see Table 8.1) is interpreted as the detector trigger in the AL. «Passive». The panel responses only to the current drop in AL. The current drop in the AL relative to the recorded threshold value (see Table 8.1) is interpreted as the detector trigger in the AL. Manual call points or 4-wire detectors can operate by the passive detector scheme. «Combined». The panel responses to the drop and growth of AL current on the determined threshold values relative to the recorded standby current. Both active (2- wire current consuming) and relay current reducing can be connected to this type AL detectors. «ARTON-DL». This AL type can be set when you connect (2-wire) the three-mode beam smoke detector ARTON-DL series. The correct mutual functioning of the detector and panel is ensured by that. 11

«Elite». This AL type is set when you connect three-mode smoke detectors «Elite» series to the zone. The receipt of coded notifications from the detectors and indication of their faults such as exceeding drift compensation ultimate level, smoke channel fault, system error are provided here. Fault condition of some detectors do not inhibit receiving of the Fire signal from the other detectors in the loop. Operation algorithm of each of 8 zones (type of the panel s response to triggering of detectors in the zone) can be the following: «Without verification». When detectors go to alarm mode sounder outputs get activated, the corresponding zone and the panel go to the FIRE mode, the FIRE notification is transmitted to FMS; «With verification». When a detector goes to alarm state the zone goes to the ATTENTION mode, the zone is deenergised for a while ( by default 5 sec) including the outputs set as 4-wire zone power outputs. After the power is applied again within the determined time (by default 5 min) the zone state is activated in such a way that the detector trigger in the zone shall invoke the panel going to the FIRE status, otherwise the zone shall go to standby mode. The zone type «With verification» is recommended for protection against false alarms. «Two detectors». When a detector goes to alarm state the zone goes to the ATTENTION mode, and within the determined time waits for the second detector triggering in the zone. If within the determined time (by default 5 min) the second detector triggers in the zone, then the zone shall go to the FIRE status, otherwise when the waiting time is over the zone shall be automatically reset and the zone shall go to standby mode. NB. To ensure the correct functioning of the zone with the operation algorithm fit a current limiting resistor in each detector s base in accordance with the diagrams shown in Appendix 6, and if necessary, increase the threshold of trigger detection at zone current growth Programmable outputs «AUX1» and «AUX2» Each of the programmable outputs «AUX1» or «AUX2» independently of each other can operate as: - 4-wire power output; - Auxiliary sounder output (by activation conditions); - «Two zone fire» output; - «Fault» output; - «Alarm» output; - Non-commutated power output of auxiliary devices (+12V, 300mА, S/C proof). For the output set as 4-wire power output, the list of those zones that will be powered by the output can be specified. In this case when you reset the zone included to the list the other zones included to the list will be automatically reset. For an output set as the auxiliary sounder output, the list of those zones that will be involved in activation of an output with operation logics on AND/OR taking into account the activation conditions can be specified. 12

Besides this, a bunch of from 1 to 7 activation conditions can be used to activate the output: - «Attention» in a zone from the programmed list; - «Fire» in a zone from the programmed list; - «Fault» in a zone from the programmed list; - «Fault» of the panel; - «Fault of primary power source (220V)»; - «Fault of back-up power source (BAT)»; - «Alarm» of the panel». Example. One of outputs can be programmed, e.g. «AUX1», with the following activation condition: AUX1 =( Fire[ZN1] AND Fire[ZN2]) OR Fire[ZN3]. The output will get active provided that two zones ZN1 and ZN2 or one ZN3 will go to the FIRE status. An output type «Fire in two zones» activates in the case when two zones from the zone list specified in the programming mode for the output will go to the FIRE mode Relay outputs «Relay1» and «Relay2» Programmable relays «Relay1» and «Relay2» are designed to generate outcoming signals by N.C. or N.O. switchgroups on different activation conditions. The programming possibilities of relays coincide with those of the outputs «AUX1» and «AUX2». NB. By default, «Relay1» is enabled when the panel goes to the Fire mode, the «Relay2» is enabled when the panel goes to the Fault mode. 5.3 Main modes of operation General overview The panel can be simultaneously in the FIRE, ATTENTION, FAULT, ALARM, DISABLEMENT modes, which are indicated with various LED light, the internal buzzer sounding and statuses of outputs. Depending on the panel s mode LED illumination differs with colour, frequency of flashes, and porosity (repetition period/ illumination time). The panel provides different sounding of the internal buzzer in FIRE, ATTENTION, FAULT, and ALARM modes. Enabling of the corresponding general indicators of modes and zone indicators coincides on frequency and phase in FIRE and FAULT modes. For the detailed description of light and sound indication of all statuses and modes of the panel please refer to Appendix «FIRE» mode In the FIRE mode the appropriate zone indicators and General Fire indicator synchronically pulse red, the internal buzzer issues the Fire signal, the FIRE output activates, the sounder outputs SND1 and SND2 activate. Also under the appropriate settings the outputs «AUX1», «AUX2» and relays «Relay1», «Relay2» activate. Besides this the relevant notifications are issued to be transmitted to FMS. The FIRE mode can be reset by any user in the authorized user mode (after entering the access code) while keeping the Reset button pressed for 2-3 sec until the sound signal ceases. 13

5.3.3 «FAULT» mode The general FAULT indicator pulses, the internal buzzer generates the Fault signal and the FAULT output activates in the FAULT mode. The following indicators will flash according to the fault type: «Mains fault» 220 V mains fault; «Back-up fault» back-up power fault (BAT); «Zone 1»..«Zone 8» zone fault; «Sounder» sounder fault; «Fire output» Fire output fault; «Fault output» Fault output fault; «Communicator» communication device fault; «System» system error. You can determine a fault type by the LED light. NB. For the detailed description of light and sound indication of each type fault please refer to Appendix 5. Yet the outputs «AUX1», «AUX2» and the relays «Relay1», «Relay2» can be activated with the appropriate settings. The relevant notifications are issued to be sent to FMS. The FAULT mode is reset automatically (is the fault cause has been cleared) or by any user in the authorized user mode (after entering the access code) while keeping the Reset button pressed for 2-3 sec. After resetting the panel will go to the Fault mode if the fault cause has not been cleared «DISABLEMENT» mode The DISABLEMENT mode is activated resulting from the following user actions in the authorized user mode: - Zone disablement; - Disablement (silencing) of sounders; - Disablement (silencing) of the outgoing «FIRE» signal; - Disablement (silencing) of the outgoing «FAULT» signal; The mode is indicated with steady light of the general indicator DISABLED, as well as the relevant indicators «Zone 1»..«Zone 8», «Sounder», «Fire output», «Fault output» «ATTENTION» mode The panel goes to the ATTENTION mode when the triggering of a detector with the With verification or Two detectors operation algorithm has been detected in a zone. The mode is used to warn about the possible fire in the zone. The red indicator of the relevant zone flashes and the internal buzzer issues the Attention signal (two short recurrent beeps). The outputs configured to the response to the Attention status also activate in the mode. The panel also generates the relevant notifications to be sent to FMS. The ATTENTION mode is reset automatically upon the verification time expiring (by default 5 min), if within the time the zone has not gone to the FIRE mode. 14

5.3.6 «ALARM» mode The panel goes to the ALARM mode when the panel s lid has been unauthorisingly open. The Alarm indicator flashes red, the internal buzzer issues the alarm signal and the sounder outputs «SND1» and «SND2» or relays configured to response to ALARM status activate. The appropriate notification to FMS is issued. The ALARM mode is reset upon the correct code entering by any user. The panel s lid opening doesn t result to going to the Alarm mode upon the user code entering. 6 SAFETY ISSUES 6.1 Attention! All operations with the panel must be made by operators (users) with the closed panel s lid. 6.2 The installation, mounting, connection and maintenance must be performed by the competent service personnel. 6.3 It should be kept in mind that the 220 V mains voltage in operating state is connected to input terminals that is dangerous for human life. 6.4 The installation, removing, wiring and repair of the panel should be made when the A.C. mains is off. 6.5 The mounting works with the panel should be done using an electrical tool with the voltage not more than 42 V and power not more than 40 W with healthy isolation of current leading circuits from the electrical tool housing. 6.6 The fire safety rules should be kept when performing works with the panel. 6.7 The use of the panel without earthing its enclosure is forbidden. 6.8 The use of the panel in premises with aggressive admixtures causing corrosion is prohibited. 7 COMMISSIONING 7.1 Mounting Decide on the height convenient for mounting and maintenance according to the construction regulations. The panel can be wall-mounted. Mark the holes on the surface the panel is to be mounted to in accordance with the mounting dimensions (Appendix 2). Wires and cables must only be brought through holes in the bottom section of the enclosure (Appendix 3). All the further wirings must be made with the enclosure s lid open. To prevent the panel from going to the FAULT mode when the panel is switched without regular loadings fit 3,3 kohm resistors (supplied in the accessories pack) parallel to terminal blocks of all zones and the outputs «SND1», «SND2», «FIRE», «FAULT». 7.2 Zone wiring Connect alarm loops to the connections «Zone1»..«Zone8» and «GND». The plus wire of a loop connect to the connection «+», and the minus one to the connection «GND» (see Appendix 4). The type and algorithm of loop operation different from the factory defaults are configured in the programming mode. Default programming settings of the panel can be 15

found in p The maximum AL resistance not considering EOL resistor must not exceed 220 Ohm. Typical wiring diagrams (2-wire, 4-wire, active, passive, combined) are shown in Appendix 6. The panel automatically records baseline standby currents of all ALs in 10 sec after the panel s enablement. 7.3 Sounder circuit wiring Connect sounders to the outputs «SND1» and «SND2». The plus wire of the loop connect to the connection «+», and the minus one to the connection «GND» (see Appendix 4). 12 V 300 ma sounders and beacons (strobe lights) can be connected to each output. To control line integrity with sounders fit terminal resistors rated from 1 to 5,1 kohm in the end of the line. 7.4 Mains wiring Attention! The connection of the mains power supply to the panel must only be carried out by a suitably qualified service personnel The panel can be wired to the mains supply only using the diagram with differential protective relay in the main distribution board Connect the terminal of the terminal block to grounding mat rated at not greater than 4 Ohm Check for presence and proper operation of 1.0 А fuse in the terminal block Connect the dead power cable to terminals «220 V» so that the phase wire would be connected to «L» terminal and the neutral wire - to terminal «N». Fix the cable using a plastic clip Apply power to the panel. Upon that the test is carried out within 10 sec. During the interval all LED indicators shall be lit a few times and a short signal of the internal buzzer shall sound. The panel also checks program and non-volatile memory, initiates configuration, checks for the faults in outputs, AL and power supply system. When in the course of testing any fault is detected, the general Fault indicator pulses and the internal buzzer turns on (one short and two long signals). When the test is complete the panel produces 3 short sound signals and goes to the standby mode if there are no faults. If after applying the mains supply none of the indicators are not lit check for presence and correct operation of the fuse in the terminal block. 7.5 Battery wiring Caution. You must connect the battery after applying the mains power Position the rechargeable battery as shown in Annex 3. Connect the black wire with the minus terminal, the red wire with the plus terminal of the battery. You must keep the polarity in mind while connecting the battery Close the panel s lid. Upon that only green POWER indicator shall be lit Check the indicators and the internal buzzer by short-time pressing the Test button. As a result all indicators shall flash a few times and the internal buzzer shall sound. 16

7.6 Controlling the panel (authorized user mode) General overview You can access to control functions of the panel only after entering the access code. Four programmable access codes for 4 authorized users and one programmable engineer s access code are available. To access the mode enter one of 4 access codes. The panel shall go to standby mode provided no faults and disablements are in the system. 8.2 View and change of parameters. General overview Programming the panel means change of an object's parameter values. Objects are zone, output, relay, user etc. All object parameters are located in separate sections/cells every of which has its own code. Objects of the same type with typical parameters for the object are grouped in each section when possible. In general to change parameter value you need to enter a 5-digit numeric sequence on the keypad and press [Select]: Indication of the current value Indication of the new value [section code/cell (3 numbers)] [new value (2 numbers)] [Select]. Example. You need to set operation algorithm AL2 with verification. Enter in the programming mode: [122] [12] [Select] Where: [122] section code/cell, and [12]- new parameter value Note: When you press [Cancel] at any place of the entering the whole entered sequence will be cleared. After you have entered the section (cell) number, the 2-digit parameter value code will be indicated with successive flashes of zone indicators [1]..[8]. The selected parameter value can be defined by the succession of flashes of separate LEDs. Example. Succession of flashes of indicators [2] and [1] corresponds to the code «21». If while the current parameter value code is indicated you will enter a new permissible code then the indicators will indicate the new value. The correct entering of the new value is confirmed by the short dual-toned sound signal. Entering of impermissible parameter value is indicated by the long-lasting lowtoned sound signal. To save the new parameter value in non-volatile memory of the panel press [Select]. Saving is accompanied with three short sound signals, after that the return to the beginning of programming will be carried out. Going back to the programming mode without saving the changes made occurs when you press [Cancel] or automatically in 1 min if no buttons have been pressed within the time. 19

In several clauses of the section the service section [443] is mentioned, from where the several special functions are performed such as, e.g., recording of standby current of all zones or setting of specific parameters. An output or relay can be activated when one of several events occurs, their list is given below. To view the actual value of activation conditions enter the section number on the numeric keypad in the programming mode. After that the steady light of red and LEDs [1] [4] will indicate the events involved in the activation of the output. - LED zone 1 mode «Attention»; - LED zone 2 mode «Fire»; - LED zone 3 mode «Fault» in zone; - LED zone 4 general mode «Fault»; - red LED zone 1 mains fault (220V); - red LED zone 2 back-up power fault (BAT); - red LED zone 3 mode «Alarm»; Example: if after entering [311] (activation conditions of output «AUX1») the indicators [2] and [3] are lit, then the output «AUX1» will activate when the Fire event or any zone fault occurs. To change zone indicators status press the corresponding buttons [1] [4]. To change red zone indicators status press the corresponding buttons [1] [4] keeping [Func]pressed. Successive pressings cause turn-by-turn change of LED illumination (on/off). Pressing [Select] leads to going to the programming mode with saving the new activation condition. 21 [332] zone list for activation of the output «Relay1» [342] zone list for activation of the output «Relay2» If the modes «Attention», «Fire» or «Fault in zone» have been set for an output or relay in their activation condition, then in those sections the zones involved in activation will be set. Example: If the Fire mode has been set in the activation condition of the «AUX1» output then in the section [312] the zones which will activate the output when the panel goes to the Fire mode) will be set. From 1 to 8 zones with the operation logics on "AND"/"OR" can participate in activation condition of each output. After the section number entering the illumination of zone indicators points to the zones participating in activation condition of the output: - steadily lit zone is included to condition on "AND"; - pulsing zone is included condition on "OR"; - not lit zone is not included to activation condition. Example: If after entering [312] (zone list for activation of the output «AUX1») the indicator [1] is pulsing and the indicators [3] and [4] are steadily lit, then the activation condition for the output «AUX1» is the expression: AUX1 = AL1 OR (AL3 AND AL4)). If the Fire mode response is set in the activation condition of the output (section [311]) then in this case the output «AUX1» will be activated when AL1 or both loops AL3 and AL4 will go to the Fire status. To change AL included to the activation conditions press the relevant zone buttons. Successive pressing leads to turn-by-turn change of zone indicator (on/pulsing/off), that corresponds to the logical condition change (AND, OR, AL not included to condition). Pressing [Select] leads to going to the programming mode with saving of the new zone list for the output or relay. Pressing [Cancel] leads to going to the programming mode with resetting of the changed made. 8.6 Section [233] active time of the output «SND1» [243] active time of the output «SND2» [313] active time of the output «AUX1» [323] active time of the output «AUX2» [333] active time of the output «Relay1» [343] active time of the output «Relay2» Active time of the output is the time an output stays enabled (active) within after occurrence of the activation conditions. NB. If within the active time the conditions that invoked the activation of an output disappear, then the output goes to the passive state. To view and change the parameter enter the following succession in the programming mode: 22

Enter the following chain in the programming mode (n zone number): service section code [443] [14n] function code 8.12 Recording of zone standby current Zone standby current is the current value the panel defines the zone current change from, in order to determine the device's activation in zone. The automatic standby current record is provided in the panel. But in certain cases when the big number of devices have been connected to the zone which go to the stable mode of current consumption lingeringly (longer than 10 sec), the manual standby current record is necessary. Manual zone standby current record is performed from the service section [443]. To record standby current of a zone enter the following chain in the programming mode (n zone number): service section code function code [443] [12n] The internal buzzer issues as a result of performing the function: - 3 short sound signals, if setting of zone baseline current has been successful; - 1 long sound signal if the measured zone current is beyond the permissible current range (zone is in S/C or O/C). - To record standby current of all zones enter: service section code function code [443] [111] After implementing of these procedures the panel goes to the beginning of the programming mode. Prior to using this procedure, the zones, the standby current record is being performed for, must be enabled and all detectors in the zones must be in standby mode Output load control All the panel's outputs are S/C proof. Besides that, all the outputs, except for the output «+12V», feature a load control with detecting of O/C in communication line and fault indication. S/C detection enabling/disabling as well as output load presence control (O/C) for every individual output are provided in the panel. The change of output load control is performed from the service section [443]. 26
