1 Wireless Devices This chapter introduces the suite of DSC wireless sensors and devices used with the Impassa and other series of DSC alarm systems ALARM DETECTORS WS4945 DOOR/WINDOW SENSOR The WS4945 is a wireless door/window sensor with a built in reed switch and an optional internal hardwired zone input. This sensor uses a magnetic reed switch operation. Two versions of the WS4945 exist: WS4945: standard wireless door/window sensor with a normally closed input for a hardwired sensor WS4945N: a wireless door/window sensor with a normally open input for a hardwired sensor (for use with normally open devices such as heat detectors). EV-DW4975 WIRELESS VANISHING DOOR/WINDOW SENSOR The EV-DW4975 is a wafer thin door/window sensor designed to be sleek and hardly noticeable. This detector does not offer an internal hardwired zone input. This sensor also uses a magnetic reed switch operation. WS4904 WIRELESS PET IMMUNE MOTION DETECTOR (PIR) The WS4904 is a wireless motion detector with the ability to ignore most small pets (pet immune) The following are the features of this motion detector: PIR (passive infrared) sensor uses changes in temperature to detect intruders Walk test mode that allows the installer to determine the ideal positioning to protect the desired area LED that is only active in the walk test mode to conserve battery life High traffic shutdown: a feature that shuts down the motion detector for 3 minutes after a violation to conserve battery life. During these 3 minutes, the motion detector will not send any violations to the alarm panel A 6 second delay in transmission of violations to the alarm panel to prevent false alarms Selectable sensitivity jumper which selects the amount of pet immunity

2 WS4916 AND WS4926 WIRELESS SMOKE DETECTORS The WS4916 is a wireless smoke detector with a built in heat detector (137 degree F trigger) The WS4926 is identical to the WS4916 except there is no built in heat detector Both detectors support: Photoelectric sensor for detecting smoke Automatic sensitivity adjustment to adapt to dusty/dirty areas Low sensitivity warning Compensation reset: the ability to factory reset the sensitivity Easy access to clean the smoke chamber with compressed air WS4913 WIRELESS CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR A standard wireless carbon monoxide detector with a built in end-of-life warning Note: Sending a test alarm signal to the central monitoring station will require the use of a carbon monoxide test kit (carbon monoxide spray and enclosure) as simply violating the tamper will not trigger an alarm response. WS4965 WIRELESS TRI-ZONE This is a detector that has a built in magnetic reed switch, a tilt switch (useful for protecting overhead and garage doors) plus two internal normally closed hardwired zone inputs. This zone can be programmed as 3 separate wireless sensors. The printed ESN is the serial number for either the reed switch or tilt switch (only one can be used at a time, selectable with a jumper) The ESN for the two hardwired zone inputs are the printed ESN + 1 and + 2 respectively. Example: if the printed ESN is 23F4B8 ESN + 1 (for the first hardwired input) 23F4B9 ESN + 2 (for the second hardwired input) 23F4BA EV-DW4927 WIRELESS SHOCK SENSOR/REED SWITCH COMBO This device doubles as a shock sensor (perfect for securing windows, safes etc.) and a magnetic reed switch Two versions exist:

3 WS4927: This device can be used as two separate wireless sensors, one shock sensor and one reed switch which take up one zone each. The printed ESN on the sticker of the device is the serial number for the shock sensor, adding + 1 to the ESN gives the serial number of the reed switch. WS4927SS: Both the reed switch and shock sensor take up the same zone and use one ESN. WS4985 WIRELESS FLOOD DETECTOR This detector is similar to the WS4945, but it comes with a water probe that can be mounted at a desired height to indicate a flood alarm. NOTE: ALTHOUGH THE WS4945 DETECTOR AND WS4985 TRANSMITTER LOOK IDENTICAL, THEY ARE NOT AND CANNOT BE INTERCHANGED. WS4938 WIRELESS PANIC PENDANT Although this looks like a keyfob, it enrolls and acts like a zone. It is supervised by default which means it cannot be taken out of range of the system for more than 24 hours unless the supervision is disabled. It is typical to program this device as a 24 hour panic zone WIRELESS KEYFOBS WS4939 STANDARD 4 BUTTON WIRELESS KEYFOB A 4 button keyfob with programmable functions. The default functions are 1) Stay arm (top left), 2) Away arm (top right), 3) Disarm (bottom left) and 4) Panic alarm (bottom right) NOTE: THE PANIC ALARM HAS A DEFAULT 3 SECOND DELAY (YOU MUST HOLD THE BUTTON FOR 3 SECONDS TO ACTIVATE THE PANIC) WS4949 TWO BUTTON KEYFOB This device is identical to the WS4939 however it has 2 buttons with 3 functions (press both buttons to get the 3rd function). The left button is function 2 (away arm by default), the right button is function 3 (disarm) and both buttons together is function 4 (panic alarm) WS FUNCTION KEYFOB This keyfob is identical to the WS4939 however it has a centre button which changes the ESN by 1 and provides 4 additional functions, pressing the centre button again changes the ESN by 2 and gives an additional 4 functions. This makes the keyfob act like 3 different keyfobs which are enrolled separately. The LED changes colour when the ESN changes. (Red, Yellow and Green)

4 WT4989 TWO WAY WIRELESS KEYFOB (WITH LCD) This is the only two way wireless keyfob in the DSC catalogue. Besides the standard 4 functions as the WS4939, there is a 5th button for a status indication. The LCD screen status can display if the system is armed (stay or away), in alarm or in trouble WIRELESS SIRENS WT4901 This is an indoor wireless siren, powered by AA batteries. The main feature is to sound on alarm conditions, however you can enable trouble beeps and door chime as well in [804][ ] WT4911 This is an outdoor siren that has a larger speaker than the indoor siren and it also has strobe LED s. The enclosure is meant to be mounted on the side of a building under the eaves trough to protect against direct precipitation. To help conserve battery life, the battery needs to be activated when first powered up (by holding down the tamper button as you power it up). When activated, the 4 strobe LED s start flashing to indicate successful activation. WIRE-FREE KEYPADS WT5500 This is the standard wire-free keypad that has all of the functions of the built-in Impassa keypad. It runs on 4xAA batteries and has an optional AC adapter (WT5500x) and the typical battery life is 12 months Broadcast: LCD zone labels can be broadcast from the built-in Impassa keypad to all enrolled wire-free keypads. 1) Manually program all zone labels in the built-in Impassa keypad 2) Enter programming on the built-in keypad [*][8][Installer Code] 3) [998] and press [*] to confirm broadcast Force Enroll: If a WT5500 keypad is enrolled on a panel, it cannot be enrolled on another panel unless it is a) deleted from programming on the original panel or b) force enrolled

5 1) Power down and power up the new panel, the panel goes into search mode by flashing the AC and ready light for 2 minutes 2) Press and hold the [1] and [*] key to enroll, the keypad will enroll in the first available keypad slot on the panel. WTK5504 The WTK5504 is a two way wire-free keypad designed to be used by end users only. Its features include: a touch screen LCD display, a voice chime and verbal annunciation option. NOTE: THE ONLY INSTALLER LEVEL PROGRAMMING THAT CAN BE DONE WITH THIS KEYPAD IS TO PROGRAM THE LCD ZONE LABELS FOR DISPLAY AND VOICE CHIME. This keypad runs on an AC adapter and a back-up battery. Note that the verbal chime feature does not function without the AC adapter plugged in due to power consumption WIRELESS REPEATER WS4920 The wireless repeater is designed to extend the transmission of any devices that are located too far away from the Impassa panel. Each wireless (one way) transmitter is enrolled in the WS4920 by pressing the enroll button and activating the transmitter (sensor) 3 successful times (a long beep is given to denote a successful enrollment). Every time the transmitter transmits a signal within range of the repeater, the repeater mimics that transmission. The repeater has a similar range to the Impassa panel ( ft range) so mounting a wireless sensor further than normal is achievable. The repeater is enrolled in the Impassa panel to supervise the battery and AC transformer, also to determine if the wireless repeater is able to talk to the panel (wireless placement test). NOTE: DO NOT ENROLL ANY WIRELESS TRANSMITTERS THAT ARE ABLE TO (EVEN OCCASIONALLY) SUCCESSFULLY TRANSMIT TO THE IMPASSA PANEL. DOING SO WILL CAUSE EXCESS TRANSMISSIONS TO BE SEEN BY THE IMPASSA AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE A LACK OF RESPONSE OR ERRONEOUS ACTIVATIONS ON THE IMPASSA.
