8 Why Revisions to AC 179? ISO 6944 is an international standard test method used to evaluate ventilation ducts based on ISO 834. However, ISO 6944 does not address all of the fire resistive attributes deemed necessary by some authorities having jurisdiction, e.g. ASTM E119 requirements.

13 Proposed Revisions to AC 179 Document Revisions: Scope Expanded to include enclosure systems that are integral parts (factory fabricated) of HVAC ducts. ASTM E2816 does not limit the type of enclosure system that can be tested.
