2 Presented to the Milford Township Board & Village of Milford Council On behalf of the 35 dedicated men and women of the Milford Fire Department, I wish to extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to the Township and Village Officials and to the community for their continuous support of the fire department. Diligent enforcement of modern fire prevention codes and laws. Public education in fire safety and hazard recognition. Aggressive rescue and fire suppression. 10 Department Accomplishments for 2016 Station 1 received a much needed landscape clean-up. Station 1 received a water softener system. Station 2 had it s parking lot redone. Station 2 received a water softener up-grade. All fire hose and apparatus ground ladders were tested and items passed. Ladder-1 s aerial ladder was inspected and recertified. All apparatus received their annual maintenance as well as a Federal DOT inspection and passed. Engine-1 was up-fitted with a Trident air priming system.
11 Department Accomplishments cont. All SCBA masks were reconditioned and up-graded with new HUD displays. All SCBA s were function tested and recertified. Two new MSA-Altair HCN monitors were placed in-service. Pulse-Oximetry meters were placed in all medical bags. Two new laptop computers were purchased for the Officer s. Computers were up-graded as needed and an additional computer was purchased. The Department added a new system with its own server. The training room media system was fully up-graded with a wireless bluetooth system.
12 Department Accomplishments cont. The business inspection program was revitalized and a parttime inspector position was added. The Department successfully completed a Federal Wage & Hour investigation audit. The Department s social media page was revitalized. Medical transports increased from (52) in 2015 to (109) in which is a 100% plus increase! A recruitment & retention plan was implemented with very good results. There was a re-distribution of task assignments among the Officer s. All firefighter turn-out gear purchased in 2006 was sent in for a third-party inspection and passed.
13 Department Accomplishments cont. Firefighter physicals for 2016 were completed and all passed. The payroll system was overhauled and up-graded. We have a shared drive file system in place. We have a secure Drop Box for patient transport data. We up-dated our various pagers with (40) new Unication G-2 pagers. The Department has made a 180 degree turn around.
14 Training Highlights for 2016 Milford Fire Department is now hosting area training which is open to all area departments. We hosted a State of Michigan Fire Fighter Training Council approved Certified Pump & Aerial Operators class, with Milford Firefighters comprising most of the class. We completed training requirements to be able to administer both Narcan& Epinephrine to any patient that may require it. We performed extensive training in deploying as well as moving large amounts of water quickly, efficiently and safely.

16 Community Activities for 2016 We hosted CPR training for all of the area DNR employees, instructed by Lt. Amy Goan. We participated in the annual Downtown clean-up. We participated in several community parades. We provided medical coverage for Milford Memories. We hosted our Annual Buck Wilson Pancake Breakfast. Milford Firefighter s conducted our annual Goodfellow s Paper Drive, to provide community assistance.

19 Future Department Projects for 2017 Keep our Department progress moving forward. Refinish the front bay doors on Station 1. Recondition the bay floors at Station 1. Resurface the bay floors at Station 2. Replace Tanker-2. Up-grade our Hurst Tool cutters with Hurst E-draulic cutters. Purchase Rescue-42 Vehicle Stabilization system. Up-grade our high-pressure air bags. Increase our staffing and our shift coverage hours.
