3 Page 3 from 36 Section 1. Operation instructions This section contains general information and information regarding the use of the panel. All users of the panel should read these instructions very carefully in order to be able to act in the event of an alarm or a fault condition. 1.1 Description The BSR-1116 panel is a 1 loop, 16 zone addressable fire detection control panel. Up to 150 total devices can be connected on the loop. These devices can be all input devices (detectors, call points), up to 16 output devices and up to 20 line isolators. All the devices that are connected to the loop are referred to on the Display of the panel with the general term «POINTS» and in such a way they will be referred to from now on in the instructions that follow. 1.2 Indications and Controls The panel incorporates a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and a series of indication LEDs which are used to inform the user of the panel s status. The LEDs give us general information ( e.g. if we have an alarm the General Alarm LED lights) and the LCD display shows additional information for every event (e.g. Alarm 1, from call point 120, which belongs to Zone 10 and has occurred on 09/01/2003 and at 14: 07). Below the display we can a keyboard containing six keys that are used to operate the panel. The keys are numbered from 1 to 6 and correspond to the operations left, right, up, down, Enter (select), Escape (exit or go to previous level). In general, when pressing a button either an event takes place or a menu is shown with grouped functions. When navigating inside menus, the keys 1,2,3 and 4 are used and permit us to move through the available selections. The 5 key is used to P o w e r S i r e n T e s t accept a selection and the 6 key is used either to exit or go to a previous level. From now on these keys will be referred to by their numbers. The LEDs are grouped in order to make their indications more understandable. 4 Page 4 from Access level 1 This level contains 2 functions that can be implemented by pressing a single key. - When the panel is in standby mode ( no alarm or fault events have occurred) then if the key number (3) is pressed the system conducts a sequential LED and Display test. - In the event of an Alarm or Fault condition, if the key number (1) is pressed then the internal buzzer is silenced. For as long as the event is in effect the internal buzzer sounds once in every 30 seconds. Should the panel see a new event in this state then the buzzer will start to sound continuously Events Menu In this menu we can see the current or logged events that are grouped into categories. If the (2) key is pressed the display shows: CURRENT ALARM EVENTS EVENTS And we enter the menu where we can see all current an logged alarm and fault events as well as disabled sections. The possible selections available are: CURRENT ALARM EVENTS CURRENT FAULT EVENTS CURRENT PREALARM EVENTS DISPLAY DISABLEMENTS REGISTERED ALARM EVENTS REGISTERED FAULT EVENTS REGISTERED PREALARM EVENTS DETECTORS FOR SERVICE This operation as well as the next two shows the events that are currently taking place. And are «active» ( When for example we have multiple fault events and we want to see them in sequence). If the (5) key is pressed we can see the last occurred alarm event or the indication «NOT EXIST ALARM EVENTS». Using the keys (3) and (4) we can navigate to the next or the previous alarm events. Using the keys (1) and (2) we can see more information. By pressing the key (6) we return to the menu. If the (5) key is pressed we can see the last occurred fault event or the indication «NOT EXIST FAULT EVENTS». Using the keys (3) and (4) we can navigate to the next or previous fault events. Using the keys (1) and (2) we can see more information. By pressing the key (6) we return to the menu. If the (5) key is pressed we can see the last occurred pre-alarm event or the indication «NOT EXIST PRE-ALARM EVENTS». Using the keys (3) and (4) we can navigate to the next or previous pre-alarm events. Using the keys (1) and (2) we can see more information. By pressing the key (6) we return to the menu. If the (5) key is pressed we can see the disabled sections in 3 consecutive screens (zones, sirens/relays and points). If the (5) key is pressed we can see the last logged alarm event that is stored in memory. Using the keys (3) and (4) we can navigate to the next or previous logged alarm event. Using the keys (1) and (2) we can see more information. By pressing the key (6) we return to the menu. The panel stores up to 128 most recent alarm events into its memory. If the (5) key is pressed we can see the last logged fault event that is stored in memory. Using the keys (3) and (4) we can navigate to the next or previous logged fault event. Using the keys (1) and (2) we can see more information. By pressing the key (6) we return to the menu. The panel stores up to 250 most recent fault events into its memory. If the (5) key is pressed we can see the last logged prealarm event that is stored in memory. Using the keys (2) and (1) we can navigate to the next or previous logged prealarm event. Using the keys (4) and (3) we can see more information. By pressing the keys (5) or (6) we return to the menu. The panel stores up to 64 most recent prealarm events into its memory. If the (5) key is pressed the panel checks the loop and detects all points that issue values that are outside the pre-determined limits. After finishing the test the display shows : TOTAL POINTS XXX FOR SERVICE Where XXX is the number of points. If the (5) key is pressed we can see the first of the points that requires service. Using the keys (3) and (4) we can view all the points that require servicing. From the menu we can return to normal operation if the (6) key is pressed or if no key is pressed for more than 30 seconds.

5 Page 5 from Access level 2 ( User access level ) This level contains all operation that the user must do in the event of an Alarm, Pre-alarm or Fault condition. Also included are function related to zone, point and output activation and deactivation of the panel. All functions available for access level 2 are implemented using a menu that is shown by pressing the (4) key Alarm events When a device issues a fire alarm condition then the General Alarm LED lights. The Liquid crystal display shows information concerning the address of the point that issued the alarm. If the point has been named then the name will also be shown. ( else the display will only show «POINT ΧΧ ). The sirens will be activated, the RELAY 1 ( relay Alarm) will be activated and the internal buzzer will sound intermediately. If we want to silence the buzzer we can press the (1) key. If more than one alarm events occur then we can view them in the Alarm events menu (par ) To silence the sirens press the key(4) and then the key (5). To reactivate the sirens press again the key (4) and then the key (5). To RESET the panel, press the key (4) then the key (2) and finally the key (5) Pre-alarm events In case of a pre-alarm event the yellow Pre-Alarm LED lights. The liquid crystal display shows additional information regarding the pre-alarm. The internal buzzer will sound intermediately. The buzzer can be silenced by pressing the (1) key. If the pre-alarm signal ceases to exist then the panel returns to normal operation (without reset). In order for a pre-alarm signal to by issued by a device, the device must be programmed to be able to give a pre-alarm. The default configuration program has all devices incapable of issuing pre-alarms. Usually we program sensors to issue pre-alarms in areas where a fire might burn with low rates Fault events In case of a fault event the yellow General Fault LED lights. Other LEDs that show the origin of the fault may also be lit. Additional information concerning the fault will be shown on the Liquid crystal display. The RELAY 2 ( relay Fault) will be activated and the internal buzzer will sound intermediately. The buzzer can be silenced by pressing the (1) key. If more than one events occur then the List LED will also light. All occurring events can be viewed using the events menu ( par.1.3.1) To reset the panel, press the key (4) then the key (2) and finally the key (5) User menu The options available in the user menu depend on the status of the panel when the (4) key is pressed When the panels is not in an alarm status and the(4) key is pressed then the display shows: SELECT->ENTER EVACUATE This menu contains all operations available to the user of the system. To navigate through the menu, use the keys (1) and (2). The available options are: SELECT->ENTER EVACUATE SELECT->ENTER SYSTEM RESET If the (5) key is pressed then a manual evacuation signal is issued. The sirens are sounded, the RELAY 1 (relay Alarm) is activated and the internal buzzer sounds continuously, as in all alarm events. The control capabilities of the panel are the same as the other alarm events and are described in par If the (5) key is pressed then the fire detection system is RESET. All current events are logged, all devices return to quiescent operation and all activated outputs are deactivated. The RESET mode is completed after about 10 seconds.

6 Page 6 from 36 SELECT->ENTER ZONE DIS/MENT * Using this selection, zones or points can be disabled. If the key (5) is pressed the display shows: DEACTIVATION ZONE 1 Using the keys (3) and (4), the zones number can be selected and by pressing the (5) key the shown zone is disabled. In this manner other zones can also be disabled. If the (2) key is pressed then specific devices can be disabled. The display shows: DEACTIVATION OF POINT 1 Using the keys (3) and (4), the point number can be selected and by pressing the (5) key the shown point is disabled. In this manner other points can also be disabled. Selections are valid after exiting the menu. By pressing the (1) key we return to the previous menu which is the DISABLE ZONE menu. WARNING!! Disablements must be a temporary state until a technical problem is solved or until all work that might affect the operation of the system has finished. If a zone or point is disabled, after exiting the user menu (with the (6) key), the panels conducts a RESET and when it returns to normal operation the «General Disable» LED lights. Also the LEDs marked «Disable Zone» and «Disable Point» might light. The display shows the indication «DISABLEMENTS». SELECT->ENTER ZONE ENAB/MENT * Using this selection all disabled zones and point can be re-enabled. The way in which the zones and points are re-enabled is identical to the method used to disable them. If the panel is in an alarm status and the (4) key is pressed the first menu option will change and the display now shows: SELECT->ENTER SIREN SILENCE If the (5) key is pressed then the sirens are silenced. If the panel is in an alarm status with the sirens silenced and the (4) key is pressed the first menu option changes and the display shows: SELECT->ENTER SIREN RESOUND If the (5) key is pressed then the sirens will start to sound. The other menu options remain the same as above. To exit the menu and to return too normal operations press the (6) key or leave the keyboard inactive for 30 seconds.

Installation instructions In this section we will refer to all required information that is required to connect the panel with all the peripherals, to program all its functions and to find any faults during the installation. It must be studied thoroughly by all installers who will connect and commission the fire detection system. The full knowledge of the panels capabilities as well as all the peripherals is essential for the proper operation of the installation. 2.1 General description The BSR-1116 panel is a 1 loop, 16 zone addressable fire detection control panel. Up to 150 total devices can be connected on the loop. These devices can be all input devices (detectors, call points), up to 16 output devices and up to 32 line isolators. All devices can be programmed to belong to a specific zone without any restriction to devices per zone. Each device must have its own specific address which is set using micro-switches. The operation instructions of each device contain detailed setting of the micro-switches for setting the address. In detail, all peripherals that can be installed on the BSR-1116 loop are: - BSR-6055/A. Addressable optical smoke sensor - BSR-6060/A. Addressable heat-of rise sensor - BSR-5036/A. Addressable break glass call-point - BSR-8013/A. Addressable unit for driving conventional detectors - BSR Addressable input-output unit - BSR-8019/A. Addressable input unit with auxiliary relay - BSR-7070/A. Addressable line isolator On the siren outputs of the panel we can connect all conventional sirens (BS-530, BS-531, BS-525), bells or fire alarm beacons. Both addressable sensors have incorporated outputs for connecting remote indication LEDs of the type BS-572. In order to minimize mistakes during the installation or programming procedure it is wise to start operations with a plan. On this plan-schematic we must write the address of every device, the name that we will reference it by (up-to 16 characters including spaces) and the zone that it will belong to. The panel can be programmed and commissioned using only the keys on the keyboard that it contains. According to regulation, in case of a short circuit it is not allowed for more than 32 detectors to go out of order. In this case it is required that a line isolator us placed per 32 detectors. 2.2 Safety A device is not regarded that it has been installed safely if it is used without prior reading the accompanying documents This product must be installed, commissioned and maintained by qualified technical personnel according to: Regulation for installing electrical appliances in buildings Fire safety regulations Manufacturer instructions - The device operates with 230V / 50Hz and has a class 2 construction (does not require Grounding). - It must be connected to the power supply installation via its own protection fuse. 2.3 Mounting The mounting of the panel should be done in such a way that it is visible and accessible to the personnel that is responsible for the fire protection of the building. The BSR-1116 is a device suitable for wall mounted installations, in internal areas. To mount it, the front cover must be removed by unfastening the 3 retaining screws. Wall mounting is accomplished by using the mounting screws and plugs contained in the package.

The terminal blocks of the panel are capable of handling cable with a cross-section of up-to 2.5mm Connecting the panels with the mains power supply (230V AC) and with the battery To connect the cable with the mains power supply a cable with external insulation must be used. The connection is done using the special terminals found on the top left of the panel as shown in the diagram (the middle terminal is used for ground connections). One of the terminals has built-in fuse (5x20,rated at 630mA ) that is the central fuse of the panel. Below these terminals and the transformer we can find the battery compartment. The compartment is suitable for the battery Α-986 of olympia electronics. The charging circuit of the panel is also calculated for the specific battery type. In case of replacement, the new battery must be of the same type. Two cables with connectors are used to connect the battery to the panel. The black cable with the black connector is connected to the negative pole of the battery (marked with (-) or with black color) and the red cable with the white connector is connected to the positive pole of the battery (marked (+) or with red color).

9 Page 9 from 36 Warnings. 1. During the installation the connections to the mains power supply and the battery must be done after all other connections are finished. 2. The panel connection with the mains supply must be done via a 16A external fuse or an automatic circuit breaker rated at 16A. 3. Always use cables with double insulation. 4. The diameter of the cable must be at least 1mm. 5. The inner insulation of each cable must not be cut more than 1cm 6. The outer insulation must not be cut more than 1cm away from the internal insulation. 7. These outputs are «ALARM-1» and «ALARM-2». Each output is capable of providing 300mA of current and is fully monitored for open and short circuit conditions. On these terminals we can see a end-of line resistor with a rating of 5,6ΚΩ. If one of the outputs is not used then the resistor should be left on the terminals. If the output is used for connecting sirens then the resistor is removed from the terminals and is connected on the siren terminals as shown in the diagram above.

10 Page 10 from 36 By default, both of these outputs are programmed to operate in case of an Alarm condition Various other outputs and their use. The panel also has available the following outputs: - Output for network connection terminals. Two terminals ( +Α, -Α ) are used to connect panels when we want to have network. We can connect up to 8 panels as shown in figure. - Terminals 24V_P. This is an output that has a rating of 24Vdc (up-to 300mA) and can be used to power devices that cannot be powered by the loop (e.g. gas detectors or electromagnetic fire safety door latches). - Terminals F_OUT and --. This is an open collector output that is activated when there is an error in the operation of the Central Processing Unit of the panel - Terminals TEL and --. This is an open collector output suitable for activating automatic telephone dialers in the event of an alarm condition. It can be connected directly on the Α or Β inputs of the BS-489 automatic telephone dialer as shown in the diagram below. Voltage free relay contacts with a rating of (30V/1A). By default they are programmed to operate as Alarm and Fault relays respectively. This operation can be changed by programming.

11 Page 11 from Connecting the loop of the panel All compatible with the panel devices ( except sensors ) have 4 pole terminal blocks that are used to connect them with the loop. The terminals are marked +L, -L, +L, -L. On one +L terminal and one L terminal is used to connect the cables that come from the panel or a previous device and the other two terminals are used to connect the cables that go to the next device.

13 Page 13 from Programming using the controls and keys of the panels After connecting all peripherals and devices the installer must execute all the necessary action in order to begin the operation of the system. These operation can be done using the built-in keyboard via the technicians menu. In order to enter the technicians menu an access code is required. This code by default is : Automatic device recognition (for devices connected on the loop) The first action that must be done is to inform the panel of all the devices that are connected to the loop. In the technicians menu there is a special options that is used to automatically recognize the devices connected to the loop. In order to access this option press the (5) key and the display will show: INSERT YOUR CODE After pressing 4 times the (1) key we enter the technicians menu and the display shows: Press the (2) key and the display will show : SELECT->ΕΝΤΕR CHECK * SELECT->ΕΝΤΕR CONFIGURATION * By pressing the (5) key we enter the configuration options of the system. Press the (2) key as many times as it is needed until the display shows: AUTOMATIC POINT DETECTION Press the (5) key and the panel will automatically enter an automatic point recognition of all devices that are connected to the loop. The display will show : RESET TO DEFAULT ALL NAMES? x One more selection should be done before auto-recognition commences. This operation is to clear or not all the names of the devices that are in the panels memory. If the auto-recognition procedure is done in order to add or to remove devices then the names should not be cleared. If the (5) key is pressed then we select not to clear the names. If we press the (3) key then the (x) on the display changes to ( ) and by pressing the (5) key the names are cleared. The display shows: SEARCHING ΦΦΦ ΟΚ POINT Νο ΥΥΥ Where (ΧΧΧ) is the address of which a device is being searched for and (ΥΥΥ) the last point detected. The panel searches for devices in all the addresses (by changing the value or XXX) and shows the last found address (in the YYY value). By knowing which devices are connected we know,when the panel has finished auto-detection, if all the devices were found and recognized. If one or more devices are not found this means that they are not correctly installed ( e.g the connection polarity is not correct or a sensor is not placed correctly on it s base). In this case we must check all the devices, correct the errors and repeat the auto-detection procedure until all the devices are recognized by the panel. After this we can go to the next programming steps.

14 Page 14 from Programming names and parameters of connected devices Every device(sensor, call-point, e.t.c.) that is connected on the loop must be adjusted and a name must be given to it. In the autodetection procedure the panel will adjust some parameters of the recognized devices, which in certain cases are enough and further programming is not required The devices are named automatically: - The call points BSR-5036/A are named «CALL POINT ΧΧΧ» (where ΧΧΧ is the address of the device). - The sensors BSR-6055/A are named «SMOKE DET. ΧΧΧ» (where ΧΧΧ is the address of the device). - The sensors BSR-6060/A are named «TEMP.60 Dt ΧΧΧ» (where ΧΧΧ is the address of the device). - The input unit BSR-8019/A is named «INPUT ΧΧΧ» (where ΧΧΧ is the address of the device). - The input-output unit BSR-8018 consists of an input unit and an output unit. Each unit requires 2 addresses. The input unit is named «INPUT I/O. ΧΧ» (where ΧΧ is a number from 1 to 16. Number 1 corresponds to address 208 and number 16 to address 224). The output unit is named «OUTPUT I/O. ΧΧ» (where ΧΧ is a number from 1 to 16. Number 1 corresponds to address 225 and number 16 to address 240). - The conventional device driving units BSR-8013/A are named «ADAPTER ΧΧΧ» (where ΧΧΧ is the address of the device). - The line isolators BSR-7070 are named «ISOLATOR ΧΧΧ» (where ΧΧΧ is the address of the device). The optical smoke sensors are programmed to issue an alarm at a value of «120» (low sensitivity) and are programmed not to issue a pre-alarm. The heat of rise detectors are programmed to issue an alarm at a value of «104» (60 degrees Celsius) and are programmed not to issue a pre-alarm Useful information for panel installation BSR-1116 installation must be according to the following steps: 1) Up to 150 total devices can be connected on the loop. In these case, the diameter of the power line must be at least 1,5 mm. 2) First, we must set the address of each device. To change the address of each device we must set the dip-switch located in each device. 3) It is essential to draw a schematic of the whole installation. The schematic must include cable length,cross- section cable, and the location of each device. This will be useful to locate where a fault, or alarm or a shortcut occurs. 4) Before we connect the cable we must check for three faults a) Shortcuts (with the help of a multimeter), b) Reverse of cable loop c) Disconnection or cut off of the loop cable (with the help of a multimeter). 5) After the cable connection we do a installation check( see page 27 in the technician menu (2.6.8)) and we press Enter. After the process we check how many devices are communicate with the panel. If the number of device which communicates is equal to the number of the devices we put in the loop, we continue with the automatic point detection. Else we check for any faults in the loop.

15 Page 15 from Loop current and cable cross-section calculation The devices are powered from the panel BSR-1116, which has a maximum supply current of 250mA. So it is necessary to calculate the maximum current of the installation, which must not overcame the limit of 250 ma. The next table shows the consumption of each device. Also the consumption of the number of the devices which are in alarm condition must be added. The calculations can be done using the PC program BSR If in any condition we overcome the current limit of 250mA, we must put a second panel BSR-1116 to produce a network. The devices will be divided into two panels. Also, an essential magnitude of the cable loop is the cross-section, because the cable resistance depends of the crosssection. If the cable resistance is high there will be a voltage loss and the device may not work properly. The next table shows the minimum cross-section in combination with the cable length and in combination with panel supply current. Final we will put an isolator in every floor. The length of the installation is 1200meters. Also the system has 16 zones and 16 IO units. The current consumptions at normal condition are: I Normal = 1 x N Smoke detectors + 1 x N Heat detectors + 1 x N Call Button + 4 x N Isolator + 10 x N Conventional + 1 x N Input unit + 1 x N IO unit 0 x N Indicator LED = 1*85 + 1*20 + 1*20 + 4*6 + 10*0 + 1*2+ 1*16 +0*10= 167mA Where Ν, is the number of devices etc. N Smoke detectors is the number of detectors in the installation. Also we will considerate that four detectors, two IO units and two Indicator LEDs will be in alarm condition. So the extra current for this devices will be: I Alarm = (1,5-1)*4 + (6-1)*2 +5*2 = 22 ma We did not take under consideration the consumption of all devices in alarm condition because it is impossible that all devices will be in alarm condition. The total current is : I total = I normal + I alarm = 167mA +22mA = 189mA

17 Page 17 from 36 So long as the installation needs a 1200m cable and has current 187mA, according to the previous table, the installation we need a cable with a cross-section of 1.5mm 2. If the installation is in industrial place or the loop pass near of a motor, or ballasts or other devices which does not does not comply to CE in radiation activity, then a cable with shield is needed Programming the general operation parameters of the panel All the outputs of the panel (relays, sirens ) are programmed by default to operate as required in most simple installations without requiring reprogramming. Besides this they are fully programmable from the installer in order to fulfil the requirements of each installation. The default settings of the outputs are : - Siren outputs. The two siren outputs are permanently activated in an alarm condition, without any delay and stay activated until the user selects to silence the sirens or to reset the system. - AUX 1 relay output. The AUX 1 relay output is activated permanently in an alarm condition, without any delay and stays activated until the user resets the system. - AUX 2 relay output. The AUX 2 relay output is activated permanently in a fault condition without any delay and stays activated until the user resets the system. - Input-output unit (BSR-8018) that is connected on the loop. All the outputs of the devices BSR-8018 that are recognized during the auto-detection procedure are programmed automatically to be continuously activated by an alarm condition, without any delay and stay activated until the user resets the system. If for some reason in certain installations it is required that the outputs function in a different manner then the programming can be done via the technicians menu. If it is required to change the way of operation of the sirens, press the (5) key, enter the technicians code (par ), and the display will show : SELECT->ΕΝΤΕR CHECK * Press once the (2) key and the display shows : SELECT->ΕΝΤΕR CONFIGURATION * Press the (5) key and then the (2) key as many time required until the display shows: CONFIGURE SIREN 1* With the keys (3) and (4) we can select siren 1 or siren 2. If we press the (5) key we can see the programmed operation mode of the selected siren. If it is the default programming we will see on the display : ACTIVATED AS GENERAL ALARM For the activation method we have two options, to be activated with a general ALARM (which means that the siren will be activated when the panel issues an alarm condition from any zone) or to be activated from a specific zone or zones only. If the (2) key is pressed then the display shows : MODE CHANGE OF ACTIVATION Pressing the (5) key once the display shows : ACTIVATE MODE AS GENERAL ALARM By pressing the (2) key we can change the selection to : ACTIVATE MODE FROM ZONES (OR )

Press the (5) key when the display shows the required method of activation and the panel will acknowledge by showing on the display : ACTION COMPLETED And after awhile the selected activation method. E.g : ACTIVATED FROM ΖΟΝΕΣ (OR ) Three more option are available to us, the programming of the zones of the siren, the programming or the duration and the programming of the delay. The zone programming is available only if we have previously selected «ACTIVATED MODE FROM ZONES ( OR)». By pressing the (5) key the display shows : And by pressing the (5) key we can select which zones will activate the sirens. The display shows : With a cursor over the first digit. With the keys (1) and (2) move the cursor left and right over the digits and with the keys (3) and (4) erase or light the ( )over the digits. Each digit corresponds to one of the 16 zones of the panel (from left to right for zones 1 to 16). The symbol ( )over the digit means that this zone activates the selected output.. If for example we want the selected siren to be activated by zones 1,2,3,4,8 and 9 the display must show : By pressing the (5) key we select the option and the display shows : By pressing the (2) key the display shows : SELECTION OF SIREN ZONES SELECTION OF SIREN ZONES ADJUST DURATION If it is required that the specific siren output to operate for a pre-determined duration and after that to stop to operate we must press the (5) key and the display shows: MODIFICATION DURATION 0 With the (3) and (4) keys we can select one of the below settings: 0 = Permanent operation 1 = Interruptible operation with 3 seconds ON 5 seconds OFF 2 = Interruptible operation with 10 seconds ON 5 seconds OFF = Interruptible operation with 5 seconds ON 15 seconds OFF = Interruptible operation with 1 second ON 1 second OFF

19 Page 19 from 36 Then by pressing the (5) key the displays shows: ADJUST DURATION By pressing the (2) key the display shows : ADJUST DELAY If we want the selected output of the sirens to by activated after a pre-determined time delay then by pressing the (5) key the display shows : MODIFICATION DELAY 0 With the keys (3) and (4) select the seconds of the delay ( from 0 to 240). By pressing the (5) key we select the option and the display shows : ADJUST DELAY Press the (6) key as many times as it is required for the panel to return to normal operation. If we have changed the programming then an automatic system RESET will be executed. After the reset procedure ends all programmed changes will be stored in memory and the siren will now operate as we have programmed it. Using the same procedure we can program the other siren output. If it is required to change the way of operation of the AUX relay 1, press the (5) key and enter the technicians code (see par ), and the display will show : SELECT->ΕΝΤΕR CHECK * Press the (2) key once and the display shows : SELECT->ΕΝΤΕR CONFIGURATION By pressing the (5) key and then the (2) key as many times as it is required until the display shows : CONFIGURE AUX 1 RELAY * Press the (5) key and the display shows the activation method of the selected relay. If it is the default the display will show : ACTIVATED AS GENERAL ALARM For the activation method of the relay we have 4 options, to be activated from a general ALARM (which means that the relay will be activated when the panel issues an alarm condition from any zone), to be activated from a general Fault (which means that the relay will be activated when the panel issues any fault condition), to be activated from specific zones only or to be activated by two zones together (which means that the relay will be activated when both zones issue an alarm condition). If the (2) key is pressed the display shows : MODE CHANGE OF ACTIVATION

20 Page 20 from 36 By pressing the (5) key once the display shows : ACTIVATE MODE AS GENERAL ΑLARM By using the keys (2) or (1) we can change the selection to : ACTIVATE MODE AS GENERAL FAULT ACTIVATE MODE FROM ZONES (OR ) ACTIVATE MODE FROM 2 ZONES (AND) Press the (5) key when the required selection is shown on the display and the panel will confirm the selection by showing on the display : ACTION COMPLETED And after awhile the selected method of activation E.g. : ACTIVATE MODE FROM ZONES (OR ) We have three more selection when programming the relay, the programming of the zone of the relay, the programming of the duration and the programming of the delay. The programming of the zones of the relay is only available if we had previously selected «ACTIVATE MODE FROM ZONES( OR)» or «ACTIVATE MODE FROM 2 ZONES (AND)». By pressing the (5) key the display shows : SELECTION OF PANEL ZONES By pressing the (5) key we can select which zones will activate the relay output. If we have selected ι «ACTIVATE MODE FROM ZONES (OR)» the selection of the zones is done in exactly the same way as the sirens. If we have selected «ACTIVATED MODE FROM 2 ZONES (AND)» we must take care to select only 2 zones. In this case the display shows: The cursor is above the first digit. With the keys (1) and (2) we can move the cursor over the required digit and by using the (3) or (4) key we can erase or light the ( ) symbol over the digit. Each digit corresponds to the16 zones of the panel. (from left to right are zones 1 to 16) and the symbol ( )πabove the digit means that this zone affects the selected relay. If for instance we want the relay to be activated when zones 8 and 9 issue an alarm we must see on the display : By pressing the (5) key we make the selection and the display shows : By pressing the (2) key the display shows: SELECTION OF PANEL ZONES ADJUST DURATION

21 Page 21 from 36 If we want a specific relay to operate for a pre-determined time period and after this time to stop press the (5) key and the display shows: MODIFICATION DURATION 0 With the keys (3) and (4) we can select the minutes that the relay will operate (from 0 to 255). The selection 0 means that the relay will be activated permanently. Press the (5) key to enter the selection and the display shows : ADJUST DURATION By pressing the (2) key the display shows : ADJUST DELAY If we want a specific relay to operate after a pre-determined time period from the time an alarm is given then press the (5) key and the display shows : MODIFICATION DELAY 0 With the keys (3) and (4) we select the seconds of the delay (from 0 to 255). By pressing the (5) key we make the selection and the display shows : ADJUST DELAY Press the (6) key as many times as it is required in order to return to normal operation. If the programming has been changed then the panel will conduct an automatic RESET of the system. After the reset all programming changes will be stored into memory and the relay will operate according to the programming that we have done. With the same procedure we can program the parameters of the second relay (AUX 2). If we want to change the way of operation of the relays in the input-output unit (BSR-8018), press the (5) key, enter the technicians code ( see par ), and the display shows : Press the (2) key once and the display shows : SELECT->ΕΝΤΕR CHECK * SELECT->ΕΝΤΕR CONFIGURE * Press the (5) key once and then the (2) as many times as it is required until the display shows : CONFIGURE OUTPUT UNIT 1* The output unit 1 is the relay of the device BSR-8018 that was detected at address 224. The output unit 2 is the relay of the device detected at address 225 and continuing in this manner the output unit 16 is the relay of the device BSR-8018 that was detected at address 240. Using the keys (3) and (4) we can select output units 1 to 16 and by pressing the (5) key we see the programmed method of activation. If this is the default method the display shows : ACTIVATED AS GENERAL ΑLARM

22 Page 22 from 36 The options and the programming steps are identical with the programming of the auxiliary relays of the panel. (AUX 1 and AUX 2 RELAYS) Programming the system time Press the (5) key and enter the technicians code( see par ). Press the (2) key as many times as it is needed in order for the display to show : Press the (5) key and the display will show : ADJUST HOUR TIME 19:14:56 With the (1) and (2) keys we can move to the hours, minutes or seconds digits. With the keys (3) and (4) we can increase or decrease what we have selected. By pressing the (5) key the new time will be stored in the system. The correct setting of the time and the date are essential for precise logging of events Programming the date of the system Press the (5) key and enter the technicians code( see par ). Press the (2) key as many times as it is required in order for the display to show : By pressing the (5) key the display shows : ADJUST DATE DATE With the keys (1) and (2) we can move the cursor to the days, months and years digits. The keys (3) and (4) are used to increase or decrease the selection. By pressing the (5) key once more the new date is stored in the system.

23 Page 23 from Technicians menu The technicians menu contains all those options that the installer will require to commission the fire detection system, to find faults and errors during the installation, to use the system and configure with the required parameters suitable for the specific installation. Some of the options that will be used during the initial installation we covered in the previous paragraphs. To enter the technician menu press the (5) key and enter the technicians code which by default is (1111). The menu contains 11 basic options many of which contain several sub-options. The navigate between the options use the (1) and (2) keys, the (5) key selects the option shown on the display and the (6) key returns to a previous option or escapes from the menu. The table below shows all the options of the technicians menu. SELECT->ΕΝΤΕR CHECK * (5) (6) ***CHECK**** OF POINT 1 This selection gives us the capability to check the communication of the panel with one device at a time. With the keys (3) and (4) select the address of the required device and press the (5) key. The display shows : Gp00000 Ep00000 V= 0 ***CHECK**** AUX 1 RELAY In the position «Gp» we can see the successful communication attempts with the device, in the «Ep» the unsuccessful communication attempts and in the position «V=» the analog value reported at that time by the device. We can use this selection in order to verify the correct communication of the device and to view it s analog value. This selection gives us the capability to test the operation of the AUX 1 RELAY and the devices connected to it. By pressing the (5) key the display shows : ***CHECK**** AUX 2 RELAY Using the (3) and (4) key AUX we 1 can RELAY activate and deactivate the relay manually. DEACTIVATED This selection gives us the capability to test the operation of the AUX 2 relay. The selection and operation is identical to the AUX 1 relay. ***CHECK**** SIREN 1 This selection gives us the capability to test the operation of the sirens. Using the keys (3) and (4) we can select output 1 or output 2 and by pressing the (5) key we can activate or deactivate the sirens that are connected to the selected output. ***CHECK**** OUTPUT UNIT 1 ***CHECK**** TELEPHONE OUTPUT ***CHECK*** INSTALLATION This option gives us the capability to test the operation of the relays contained in the BSR-8018 units that are connected to the panels loop. Using the keys (3) and (4) we select the unit from 1 to 16 and by pressing the (5) key we can activate or deactivate the relay of the selected unit. This option gives us the capability to test the operation of the output onto which the automatic telephone dialler is connected to. By pressing the (5) key we can use the (3) and (4) keys to activate or deactivate the output. This option conducts a full system test of the installation and when finished the display shows :

If the 30 minute time period elapses the panel returns to normal operation. The panel will also return to normal operation if the (6) key is pressed. In this testing state, any alarm that activates the system will activate only the sirens that will sound for only 2 seconds. SELECT->ΕΝΤΕR CONFIGURATION * (5) (6) CONFIGURE POINTS * CONFIGURE AUX 1 RELAY * The use of this option has been described in paragraph The use of this option has been described in paragraph CONFIGURE AUX 2 RELAY * CONFIGURE SIREN 1 CONFIGURE OUTPUT UNIT 1 AUTOMATIC POINT DETECTION The use of this option has been described in paragraph UPLOAD TO PC CONFIGURATION Used for sending data to a personal computer (PC) In order for this option to operate the panel must be connected to a PC.

25 Page 25 from 36 D-LOAD FROM PC CONFIGURATION RESTORE OF PARAMETERS * Used for receiving data from a PC. In order for this option to operate, the panel must be connected to a PC. This option is used to restore all the settings to factory default settings. By pressing the (5) key we enter a submenu with 3 options. WE can move through the option by using the (1) and (2) keys and by using the (5) key we can select the required option. The three options are: SELECT->ΕΝΤΕR INFORMATION * (5) (6) INFORMATION OF POINT 1 INFORMATION SIREN 1 INFORMATION PANEL BATTERY INFORMATION BATTERY CHARGER INFORMATION MAINS SUPPLY INFORMATION VCC AT PANEL INFORMATION LOOP VCC INFORMATION POINTS/ZONE 0 RESTORE POINT VALUES Restores the factory default setting of only the alarm, prealarm and zone settings of the connected devices. It sets a value of 100 on all call points, a value of 120 on all smoke sensors, a value of 104 on all heat of rise detectors. The value for pre-alarm is set to 0 for all devices. The zones are set according to the address of every device This option restores all the setting of the previous option and also restores the outputs (sirens, relays, buzzer) to factory defaults. This option erases the memory and the log (history) file, restores all the setting to factory defaults, auto-detects from the beginning all the devices connected on the loop of the panel. After auto-detection has finished it conducts a RESET and the panel returns to normal operation FACTORY ADJUSTMENTS FULL CLEAR ALL DATA? With the keys (1) and (2) we select the required siren output and by pressing the (5) key we can see the voltage on that output. When the panel is in normal operation(quiescent) the voltage on the siren outputs is 3 4V. By pressing the (5) key we can see the battery voltage. A fully charged battery has a voltage or V. By pressing the (5) key we can see the voltage of the battery charger which must be approximately V. By pressing the (5) key we can see if the mains power supply is good or not. The indication «THE MAINS VOLTAGE IS NOT GOOD» will be shown when the mains power supply is completely absent or not correct By pressing the (5) key we can see the internal voltage of the panel. Normally the panel should have a voltage of approximately 21 26V. By pressing the (5) key we can see the voltage on the loop. Normally the loop should have a voltage of 19 25V. This voltage depends on the amount of devices, their type and the length of cable. If the voltage is not in the specified range then the connected devices on the loop might not operate correctly. Using the keys (3) and (4) we can select the required zone and by pressing the (5) key we can view the total amount of

26 Page 26 from 36 INFORMATION POINTS/GROUP 1 INFORMATION CONNECTED UNITS devices that belong to the specific zone. With the keys (1) and (2) we can see the names and settings of the devices belonging to the zone. By pressing the (5) or (6) key we exit to the previous menu. This selection is identical to the previous option but refers to the devices of the groups. This option is only valid in a network of panels. From the master panel we can see how many and which panels are connected to the network. SELECT->ΕΝΤΕR DISABLEMENT * (5) (6) DEACTIVATION TOTAL DIS/MENT DEACTIVATION OF ALL ZONES DEACTIVATION ZONE 1 With this option we can deactivate all the devices and outputs that are connected to the panel. The panel will be deactivated until we reactivate it manually. Warning. By using this option the panel is made inoperable. With this option we can deactivate all the devices that are connected to the loop of the panel. The zones will be deactivated until we re-activate them manually. The relays and the siren outputs continue to operate only if we have a network of panels. In a one panel installation this options has the same function as the previous option Warning. By using this option the panel is made inoperable. By pressing the keys (3) and (4) we can select the number of the required zone that we want it s devices to be deactivated. By pressing the (5) key we confirm the selection. The zone will remain deactivated until we reactivate it manually. DEACTIVATION OF ALL POINTS With the option we can deactivate all the devices that are connected to the loop of the panel. The devices will remain deactivated until we reactivate them manually. Warning. By using this option the panel is made inoperable. DEACTIVATION OF POINT 1 DEACTIVATION AUX 1 RELAY DEACTIVATION AUX 2 RELAY DEACTIVATION SIREN 1 Using the keys (3) and (4) select the number of the device that is required to be deactivated. Press the (5) key to confirm the selection. The device remains deactivated until we reactivate it manually By pressing the (5) key, the AUX 1 relay is deactivated. The relay remains inactive until we reactivate it manually. Pressing the (5) key deactivates the AUX 2 relay. The relay remains deactivated until we reactivate it manually. Using the keys (3) and (4) select the siren output that is required to be deactivated. Press the (5) key to confirm the selection. The output remains deactivated until it is reactivated manually. SELECT->ΕΝΤΕR ENABLEMENT * (5) (6) ACTIVATION TOTAL ACTIVATION OF ALL ZONES ACTIVATION ZONE 1 This option re-enables all the disabled section of the panel. This option re-enables all the zones of the panel. To re-enable the devices of a specific zone use the keys (3) and (4) to select the zone number and press the (5) key to confirm the selection.

27 Page 27 from 36 ACTIVATION OF ALL POINTS This option re-enables all devices that are connected to the loop of the panel. ACTIVATION OF POINT 1 ACTIVATION AUX 1 RELAY ACTIVATION AUX 2 RELAY ACTIVATION SIREN 1 Using the keys (3) and (4) select the number of the device that is required to be enabled. Press the (5) key ot confirm the selection. This option reactivates the AUX 1 relay of the panel. This option reactivates the AUX 2 relay of the panel. Using the keys (3) and (4) select the required siren output number. Press the (5) key to reactivate the selected siren output. SETTINGS OF HISTORY FILE (5) (6) ERASE HISTORY FILE UPLOAD TO PC ALL EVENTS By pressing the (5) key, all the logged event are erased from the history memory. This option must be executed after every maintenance operation of the system and after the history file has been printed. This option functions if the panel is connected with a PC. By pressing the (5) key the panel transfers the history event to the PC from where they can be archived or printed. ADJUST HOUR ADJUST DATE ADJUST NAME OF PANEL (5) (6) (5) (6) (5) (6) This option is used to adjust the time of the panel as described in paragraph This option is used to adjust the date of the panel as described in paragraph This option is used to change the name of the panel (up-to 16 characters). If the ( 5) key is pressed the display shows: MODIFICATION BSR-1116 V1.35 The cursor is below the first character of the second line. Using the keys (3) and (4) change the character that is shown at the current cursor position. Use the keys (1) and (2) to move the cursor to the next character in the line. Press the (5) or (6) key to confirm the new name of the panel. ADJUST PARAMETERS * (5) (6) INDICATION LED OF POINTS FUNCTION SOME FAULTS By pressing the (5) key the display shows : (v)=flashing (x)=off ->v Using the keys (3) and (4) select «x» or «v» and by pressing the (5) key confirm the selection. «FLASHING» means that the LED that is incorporated into a device will flash every time the panel communicates with the device and «OFF» means that the LED will not light in quiescent conditions but only in alarm conditions. By pressing the (5) key the display shows :

28 Page 28 from 36 FUNCTION BUZZER FAULT (v)=with RESTORE (x)=no -> v Using the keys (3) and (4) select «x» or «v» and press the (5) key to confirm the selection. «WITH RESTORE» means that all battery and mains power supply errors will automatically be restored after the error has been fixed. «NO» means that all errors (battery and mains power supply ) need manual resetting even after they are fixed. By pressing the (5) key the display shows : (v)=at SILENCE (x)=no -> v Using the keys (3) and (4) select «x» or «v» and press the (5) key to confirm the selection. «AT SILENCE» means that in all errors the buzzer will automatically be silenced. «NO» means that the buzzer operates normally after errors. FUNCTION BACKLIGHT By pressing the (5) key the display shows : (v)=continuous (x)=no -> v Using the (3) and (4) keys select «x» or «v» and press the (5) key to confirm the selection. «CONTINUOUS» means that the display will be continuously lit (this mode reduces the duration of the system). «NO» means that the display light only in events or when a key is pressed. FUNCTION SLAVE SCREEN The option is usable only in networks of panels and for the slave panels. By pressing the (5) key the display shows: (v)=master (x)=local -> v Using the (3) and (4) keys select «x» or «v» and press the (5) key to confirm the selection. «MASTER» means that panel will display all the information of the main panel in the network (events on all the network). «NO» means that the display of the panel will only show local events.

29 Page 29 from 36 ADJUST SCI ADDRESS (5) (6) This option is used if we have a panel of networks. Address «1» belong to the central panel and addresses «2» to «8» belong to the other panels in the network. The network must not contain two panels with the same address. If the (5) key is pressed the display shows : MODIFICATION ADDRESS 8 Using the keys (3) and (4) we can change the setting of the address. To confirm the selection, press the (5) key. The panel will automatically conduct a RESET and return to normal operation with the selected address.

30 Page 30 from Programming the panel using a Personal Computer (PC) or Laptop The programming of the panel can be done in a simpler manner by using a Personal Computer and the special software package that is distributed free of charge by olympia electronics. To connect the panel to the PC a simple serial cable is required. The installation of the program is done automatically once the CD is inserted in the CD ROM drive of the PC. The only adjustment is the setting of the communication port (COM1 or COM2) on the PC. This port will be used to establish communications between the panel and the PC General description of the panel The image below shows the startup screen of the program and a brief description of the basic areas. The left section where the fire detection system is shown in tree form, the top section, where each line corresponds to a device and has all its information and the bottom section where, depending on the device selected, an option panel is available which is used to set parameters which are different for every type of device. The menu is used to setup the program the printer options and to send and receive data from the panel.

31 Page 31 from Menu description The menu contains the options : - «New». Creates a new file in the PC. - «Open». Opens an existing file from disk. - «Save». Saves the current file to disk using the current name. - «Save as..». Saves the current file to disk using a different name. - «Print». Print a detailed list of information of the current file. - «Print Preview». Shows on the screen what information will be printed. - «Exit». End of program. Before closing the program asks us to save the current file. The «Input» menu contains the options : - «Input point». Opens the Point input screen shown below. The «Points» field is used to select the type of point (smoke, heat of rise, call point, isolator, adapter, input unit) by simple selection. The «Address» field is used by the program to suggest the first free address available. By clicking on the arrow another address can be selected. The «Name» field is used to enter a name for the point selected. The program suggests a name depending on the type of point. (e.g. POINT ΝΟ 1). If we click on the name we can change it according to our requirements. The «Zone» field is used to select which zone the point belongs to. The «Group» field is used to select witch group the point belongs to. The «Alarm» filed is used to select the level after which the point will issue an alarm. The program suggests the default value which different for every type of point (e.g. if we select heat-of rise sensors the program will suggest a value of 104). By moving the scroll bar or by entering the value in the window we can change the alarm level. The program will not accept values that are not in a predetermined range. The «Pre-alarm» field is used to select the level after which the point will issue a pre-alarm. By default the program suggests the value of (0) which means without pre-alarm. By moving the scroll bar or by entering the value in the window we can change the prealarm level. The program will not accept values that are not in a pre-determined range. After selecting and setting all the fields for this point we can select «Add & Next» to store the setting and select the next point, «Add & Finish» to store the settings and exit the input point sub-menu or «Cancel» to exit the input point sub-menu without storing the settings. - «Input I/O unit». Open the dialog screen to input an input-output unit as shown below.

The input unit tab has the following options: The «Address» field is where we can select the address of the input unit. The program suggests the first free address available but can be changed by the user. Warning. If the address of the input unit is changed then automatically the address of the output unit also is changed. The «Name» field is used to change the name of the device. The «Zone» field is used to select the zone of the device. The «Group» field is used to select the group of the device. The «Alarm» field is used to select the level after which the input will issue an alarm. The program by default suggests a value of 100 which is the default value. By moving the scroll bar or by typing in the required value into the window we can change the alarm level. The program will not accept values that are not in a pre-determined range. The «Pre-alarm» field is used to select the level after which the input will issue a pre-alarm. By default the program suggests the value of (0) which means without pre-alarm. By moving the scroll bar or by entering the value in the window we can change the prealarm level. The program will not accept values that are not in a pre-determined range. If we want to adjust the parameter of the output unit press on the output unit tab. The screen changes as shown below : The «Address» field is where we can select the address of the input unit. The fields «Activation», «From 2 zones (logic AND)» and «From various zones (logic OR)» permit us to specify the activation method of the relay. If we select in the «Activation» field the selection in general alarm- the relay will be activated when any zone issues an alarm. If we select in the «Activation» field the selection in general fault- the relay will be activated when the system issue a fault. If we select in the «Activation» field the selection from 2 zones- then we must select the 2 zones that will activate the relay in the «From 2 zones (logic AND)» field. The activation of the relay will take place when both of the selected zones issue an alarm. If we select in the «Activation» field the selection from various zones- then we must select which zones will have the capability of activating the relay. The selection is done in the «From various zones (logic OR)» field. The relay will be activated when one or more of the selected zones issue an alarm. Independent of the activation method we can select the activation duration between 0 and 255 seconds (the (0) selection means permanent activation). We can also select a delay before activation time period between 0 and 240 seconds. The «Communication» menu has the following options : - «Send data». This option is used to send data from the PC to the panel. The send data screen is opened and if the panel is connected to the PC and is set to receive data, the data are transferred. - «Receive data». This option is used to transfer data from the panel to the PC. The receive data window opens and if the panel is connected to the PC and is set to send data then the data is transferred. - «Online communication». Opens the communication window with the panel and if the panel is connected to the PC, the panels Display and indications are also shown on the PC screen. Using the online communication screen we can control the panel normally by clicking on the buttons shown on the computer screen. The «Show» menu contains the options : - «Show events». This option is used to view the events of the panel on the computer screen. The events are divided into categories (alarm, pre-alarm, fault). It is required to previously transfer the data from the panel.

34 Page 34 from 36 The «Settings» menu contains the options : - «Communications». Using this option we can set the communication port between the panel and the PC. The available selections are COM1 or COM2 as shown below. - «General parameters». This option is used to show the screen from where all system parameters can be adjusted. The parameter screen has 3 tabs with the following options: In the General parameter- tab we have the following fields: The Loop name field is the field where we can change the name of panel. This name will be shown on the display of the panel when it is in quiescent state.
