3 e.control TM - unlimited functionality Due to the significance of automation for the energy efficiency, economy and ergonomics of a building, a new planning approach is needed which starts with the definition of the functionality within the room. With directive 3813 the VDI (German Association of Engineers) published, for the first time anywhere in the world, the methods required for the clear and comprehensive planning of room automation functions. It helps the technical planner to specify the requirements and the installer to implement them. Applied consistently, they offer the advantage that the complex, system-wide functionality of a highly efficient room automation system such as that required, for example, by efficiency class A of EN 15232, can be described in precise detail. Assuming that suitable systems are in place, this means for the installer that the commissioning is simpler and the subsequent building operation can be transparently and flexibly adapted for the user. Automation diagram of a constant light control system to VDI 3813 Implementation of the constant light control system with e.control functional profiles VDI 3813 describes how to deal in principle with flexible-axis buildings using segmentation as well as describing over 45 detailed functions connected to lighting, sunblind as well as HVAC systems and the necessary exchange of information between them. Industry-standard aids such as automation diagrams and function lists adapted for the directive are used for descriptive purposes. As one of the first room automation systems, e.control is best prepared for the directive. The modular design of the M-series, for example, supports the concept of the segment and room-oriented automation of flexible buildings without having to make any compromises whatsoever. Furthermore, e.control is probably the first system to offer the entire functional scope in accordance with VDI For this the LonMark functional objects of the e.control system were adapted such that they covered the functional definitions of VDI 3813 as far as possible. In this way it is possible to integrate the technologically-independent functional definitions of the planning stage on a one-to-one basis into the project planning for the e.control system. Adaptations or programming are therefore done away with completely, thereby ensuring reliable operation with full functional scope for the user. e.control functional profiles fully meet the functional scope of VDI
4 e.control TM functionality Lighting functions e.control TM lighting functions Operating functions e.control offers numerous lighting control options: web services for browsers or IP telephones, touch panels or integrated room control devices. All of them allow the lighting to be switched on/off and dimmed, scenes called up as well as log-on or logoff in the room. Automatic occupancy detection and measurement of the light in a room are essential for energy-efficient buildings of class A or B. Both functions are combined in the e.control multisensors which cover all applications with the LON interface and are available in various sizes. Occupancy evaluation The e.control occupancy evaluation system calculates from the presence detection and manual presence log-on systems the applicable occupancy status of a room for all further application functions of the lighting, sunblind and room climate control systems.. e.control light actuators cover all lighting applications. Whether fluorescent lamps, high or low-voltage halogen or LED lamps, relays, dimmers, 1-10V interface or DALI, e.control always has the right actuator - it goes without saying that as energy-efficient solutions which comply with EN they are, of course, dimmable. 5 Automatic lights The e.control automatic light is only activated in hallways, sanitary facilities or storage rooms if human occupancy has been detected. This prevents energy being used for lighting unused rooms. Constant-light control The constant-light control system provides the best means of saving energy and is therefore a must for energy-effi cient buildings of class A or B. In daylit rooms, only enough artifi cial light is added to maintain the required level of lighting. In large, lowlevel rooms with an uneven distribution of daylight, the e.control constant light control system even separates two groups of lighting in order to ensure a uniform level of iltion. In this way, energy savings of up to 50% can be made. Daylight-dependent lighting The daylight-dependend lighting is used if the dimming option cannot or must not be used for the lighting. Depending on the available daylight, artifi cial lighting is added in up to 2 stages with e.control. An integrated learning function ensures that the lights are switched off again as soon there is suffi cient daylight. 6 e.control TM functionality Sunblind functions e.control TM sunblind functions Operating functions As with the lighting, e.control also offers numerous control options for sunblinds: web services for browsers or IP telephones, touch panels or integrated room control devices. All allow for the positioning of the blind length and slat angle either directly or via scenarios. In addition to occupancy detection, the calculation of the sun s intensity and inside room temperature is also required for energy-efficient buildings of class A or B. e.control provides these values by means of multisensors, weather sensors and all room control devices. e.control actuators cover the entire range of sunblind systems, whether internal or external blinds, awnings, screens or roller shutters. All devices have a priority control function and support the e.control slat tracking controller including shadow correction. For especially demanding applications, e.control offers SMI actuators due to their high positioning accuracy. Automatic solar control The e.control solar control system on the weather sensors evaluates the daylight on each façade and determines the limit value and delay at which a sunblind is moved into a defined position. Slat tracking control For energy-efficient buildings, tracking the sun in accordance with its position is particularly important for optimising daylight utilisation. The e.control ombra BST slat tracking controller calculates in cycles the precise angle at which the supply of daylight is maximised despite the lack of glare and transmits this to the e.control sunblind actuators. 7 Shadow correction Each e.control sunblind actuator is able to calculate independently whether its blind is in the sun at any specifi c point in time or whether it is being shaded by buildings or parts of buildings. In periods of shading, therefore, the sunblind is set to maximum daylight provision in order again to improve daylight utilisation considerably. Automatic thermal control With the aid of the automatic thermal controller the intake of solar heat through the façade is controlled via the sunblind, thereby supporting the heating and cooling system. Whilst the intake of heat is welcome in spring, for example, it prevents unnecessary temperature rises in summer by closing the blind. Weather protection control The e.control weather protection controller protects external blinds from damage caused by wind, frost or rain. Various limit values can, of course, also be defi ned for different types of blind. 8 e.control TM functionality Room climate control functions e.control TM - room climate control functions Operating functions With e.control you have total control over the desired room climate, either via web browser or IP telephone, touch panel or an integrated room control device. In all cases, it is possible to infl uence the setpoint value, fan setting and the outside air supply, if necessary. In addition to measuring the temperature by means of the e.control room control devices, an energy-effi cient building of class A also needs to know the occupancy status of the rooms. The values for this are provided by the e.control multisensors. e.control actuators cover all applications of air-conditioning technology. Whether they are for radiators, heating/cooling ceilings, fan coils or façade ventilation devices, e.control always has the suitable actuator. All offer sequence adjustment, value limiting as well as a valve opening function for longer periods of non-use. Energy mode selection The level of energy effi ciency can be increased considerably by adjusting the room temperature to the room occupancy. To this end, all e.control room climate controllers are equipped with 4 energy modes which have different setpoints for heating and cooling respectively. Start optimisation In conjunction with the e.control time programs, an start optimisation reduces thermal energy comsumption for individual rooms, such that each room can be heated at the latest possible time. 9 Setpoint calculation In addition to individual setpoint shifts by the user, e.control room climate controllers also provide summer/winter compensation in the event of high/low outside temperatures. The control response can be completely parameterised by the user. Function selection All e.control controllers can depending on the heating/cooling system be operated in the heating, cooling, automatic, pre-cooling and night cooling functions. Switch-over can be performed either via a time program, the building management system or automatically via the controller. Temperature control In addition to the room temperature control function with PI algorithm, e.control room climate controllers also offer the room supply air cascade control function for fan coils with outside air fl ap. Night-time cooling All e.control room climate controllers can be switched to the night-time cooling function. Each controller then independently decides on when the night cooling begins and ends, depending on the outside and inside temperature. In addition to outside air fan coils, motorised windows can also be used for ventilation purposes. Load optimisation The e.control room climate controllers support the primary system control in optimising the energy supply through the e.control load optimization function. For this, each controller sends its current load to an evaluating logic (in the sistema RC2), which in turn informs the DDC control system as to whether and how the inlet temperature needs to be adjusted to the heating and/or cooling requirements.
