4 Page 2 EN 61150: 1993 Foreword The CENELEC questionnaire proeedure, performed for finding out whether or not the International Standard IEC 1150 : 1992 and its corrigendum March 1992 could be aecepted without textual changes, has shown that no common modifieations were necessary for the acceptanee as a European Standard. The reference document was submitted to the CENELEC members for formal vote and was approved by CENELEC as EN on 22 September The fouowing dates were fixed: - latest date of publieation of an identicai national standard (dop) latest date of withdrawal of conflicting national standards (dow) For products which have complied with the relevant nationai standard before , as shown by the manufacturer or by a certification body, this previous standard may eontinue to apply for production until Annexes designated 'normative' are part of the body of the standard. 5 Page 3 EN 61150: 1993 ALKALINE SECONDARY CELLS AND BATTERIES Sealed nickel-cadmium rechargeable monobloc batteries ln button cell design 1.1 Scope SECTION ONE - GENERAL This lnternationai Standard specifies tests and requirements for seaied nickel-cadmium rechargeable monobloc batteries in button cell design, suitable for use in any orientation. 1.2 The following normative document contains provisions which, by reference in this text, constitute provisions of this lnternational Standard. At the time of publication, the edition indicated was vaiid. AlI normative documents are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this lnternational Standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent edition of the normative document indicated below. IEC 509: 1988, Sealed nickel-cadmium buttori rechargeable single cells. 1.3 Deflnitlons For the purpose of this standard, the following definitions apply: Monobloc batteries in button cell design Battery of a circular cross-section containing two or more (n) nickel-cadmium single cells connected in series having only one outer Gasing forming positive polarity and having only one cover forming negative polarity. Sealed monobloc batteries in button eell design remain closed and do not release either gas or liquid when operated within the limits of charge and temperature specified by the manufacturer. The batteries may be equipped with safety devices to prevent dangerously high internai pressure. The batteries do not require addition to the electrolyte and they are designed to operate during their lives in their original sealed condition Nominal voltage The nominal voltage of a sealed nickel-cadmium monobloc battery in button celi design is 1,2 V times the number (n) of single cells forming the battery: UN = nx 1,2 V
