1 NFPA 1124 (2006 Edition) Compliance List Permanent Facility (Multiple Items) Row Labels 7.1 Applicability General Requirements: all consumer fireworks shall comply with this chapter unless otherwise indicated Is facility or store new? New if: 1) Consumer fireworks not sold from same location in previous 12 months. 2) Temporary facility or store Is CFRS facility or store existing? 7 flame break: distance between flame breaks not exceed 16 ft (1) flame break: extend from surface to 6 in above merchandise or to underside of shelf above (2) flame break: extend to full depth of displayed merchandise where packaged fireworks is displayed on same level as unpackaged fireworks, flame breaks shall not be required when both of the following criteria are met: (1) flame break: packaged fireworks: continuous 8 ft is equivalent to flame break (2) flame break: packaged fireworks: distance between flame breaks does not exceed 32 ft flame break: packaged fireworks: continuous length of display not exceed 32 ft without flame break flame break: 48 in aisle can be substituted for a flame break flame break: required between back to back display fixtures with aisles on both sides tied to flame break: freestanding packaged fireworks display permitted without flame break if limited to 4ft W x 8ft L x 6ft H and abuts aisles on all sides flame break: not required between back to back shelving units with not less than 1/4 in perforated hardboard on both and separated by not less than 1 1/2 in display shelving: not more than 10 percent holes or other openings (1) Facility 7 of 12

13 NFPA 1124 (2006 Edition) Compliance List Site Name: Street address: City: Zip: This compliance checklist is designed to assist the retailer or community group in complying with the requirements of NFPA 1124 (2006 Edition) and passing the license inspection. The retailer or community group may, as part of their application for a license, sign this compliance checklist and submit it with its application. The signed compliance checklist demonstrates that the retailer or community group knows the applicable rules and regulations in NFPA 1124, 2006 edition, and that the location to be licensed will be in accordance with NFPA 1124, 2006 edition, throughout the applicable licensing period. The State Fire Marshal may also use the compliance checklist in determining whether to issue a license before the license inspection is done. If the compliance checklist is not signed and submitted with the application, the location to be licensed must be inspected before the license can be issued. This checklist can also be used for an inspection that takes place after the license is issued, and may also be used in connection with any legal or administrative proceeding. (2) Such fireworks shall be packaged fireworks merchandise. (3)*Such fireworks shall be packaged and displayed for sale in a manner that will limit travel distance of ejected pyrotechnical components if ignition of the fireworks occurs. (4) Where consumer fireworks meeting the descriptions of C or C for aerial devices and audible ground devices, respectively, are sold, such devices shall be displayed for sale in an area of the store that is physically separated from the rest of the store in a manner that restricts entry by the public, and the area of the store shall be provided with not less than two means of egress, so located that there is no common path of travel and the distance to reach an egress point from the area does not exceed 35 ft (10.7 m).
