IMPORTANT In certain areas of the country you are required by law to notify the Police and Local Authority when you install an Alarm System. Since the requirements of each Authority differ, we suggest that you contact the Environmental Officer of your local Borough for full information about your local area s requirements.
2 WHAT IS A ZONE? Throughout these instructions the term ZONE is used, meaning a defined area of protection. This system has the added protection of 4-hour anti-tamper guard and panic alarm. The anti-tamper guard protects against removal of the external control panel/siren. The sensors supplied with this system have been pre-set to aid installation to the following zones door contact to Zone ; PIR to Zone and PIR to Zone 3. Each RF sensor can be programmed by moving a jump link to set the desired zone. Zone, or 3. Zone. Entry/Exit Zone. When armed allows you a pre-set time to leave or enter the property before the alarm sounds. Zone. Instant Zone. When armed will instantly trigger the alarm when a sensor has been activated (except if Zone has been triggered first, then there is a 0 second delay before the alarm sounds). Zone 3. Can be used as a Part Guard Zone or an Instant Zone (see page 0). See the diagram below to help you plan your system. IMPORTANT POINTS TO CONSIDER When planning your system and before installation consider the following points: The PIR units detect warm body movements of persons or animals in the detection zone. Door contacts detect if a door or window has been opened. Door contacts and PIRs can be used in the same zone. As the siren box has a solar panel, it must be installed where it will receive maximum exposure to sunlight. Avoid a north facing wall, or where there are predominant areas of shadow caused by nearby trees or buildings. The ideal position for installation would be on a south facing wall, away from roof overhangs and metal fittings such as metal downpipes or satellite dishes which may affect the operation of the system. The RF PIRs and RF door contacts communicate by radio frequency to trigger the control panel/siren, so there is no wiring between components. This makes the system easily expandable with additional door contacts and PIRs when the need arises (see accessories). The PIR and door contacts must be in radio range of the control panel/siren (up to 3m/00ft). Do not position PIRs facing windows, in direct sunlight, above a heat source such as radiator, or in conservatories or draughty areas. When armed, keep pets out of areas protected by PIR sensors. Now start by planning layout for your home. PLANNING YOUR SYSTEM ZONE 3 PIR Use this for Part Guard see page 0. ZONE PIR KEYPAD ZONE Entry/exit zone with 0 second delay. ukpanels.com We recommend that you check or change the battery in all sensors every 6 months. The batteries in the siren/control unit should provide up to 3 years life before replacement, however, we recommend you check them every year. DOOR CONTACT SIREN ACCESSORIES These accessories are available direct from your retailer, or from the customer helpline MM365 RF door contacts/transmitter. Fixing screws and adhesive pads included. 3 FITTING THE BATTERIES AND CHECKING THE HOUSE CODE SWITCHES PIR SENSORS ON OFF Operational jump link Remove the cover with the allen key supplied and fit the batteries. Observe that the batteries* face the same direction and check polarity. * You can fit 6 or 3 batteries (6 supplied). If you only use 3, then the operational life is reduced accordingly. To use only 3 batteries, locate them in matched terminals, (ie. AAA or BBB). Protective strip Remove the fixing screw on the battery compartment. Lightly squeeze the front casing to release the top and carefully separate. Check the battery, and remove the protective strip. DOOR CONTACTS Write the house code* switch positions as marked on the label; (=ON, 0=OFF) in the template above. The house code can be changed to your personal preference, or if a neighbouring system has the same house code see page. * These should be shown on a label on the control panel/siren. Check that the the house code* switch positions are the same as the control panel/siren and PIRs. Insert battery, with the plus mark on the battery against the plus mark on the case. Reassemble casing and replace fixing screw. * These should be shown on a label at the back of the door contact. This wirefree door contact transmitter has a low battery indicator circuit for your added protection and safety. The LED you can see on the casing will flash red on activation of the sensor (irrespective of jump link settings) when the battery reaches a known low voltage level. To continue full protection of your home you have 7 days in which to replace the battery with a new one. Remove the fixing screw to release the back casing. Place the battery in the carrier (after removing the protective strip) and fit the connector on the battery terminals (only connects one way round). Lift out the circuit board and check the house code* switches have the same setting as the control panel/siren. With the KEY FOB Remove the fixing screw and separate the casing. Take care not to lose the chain retaining pin. Check that the house code switch positions are the same as the control panel/siren. Ensure the battery is correctly fitted and replace the case. 3 LED operational jump link fitted, the LED flashes green when the PIR detects a warm moving body. If you do not wish the LED to flash, remove the link and store it by replacing it on only one of the pins. Replace the circuit board and battery carrier. Refit the back casing avoiding trapping the wires. Secure with the fixing screw. * These should be shown on a label at the back of the PIR. This wirefree PIR sensor has a low battery indicator circuit for your added protection and safety. When the battery reaches a known low voltage, the LED will flash red on activation of the sensor (irrespective of jump link settings) which can be seen through the PIR lens. The battery will have to be replaced with an alkaline battery of the same type within the next 7 days to continue full protection. IMPORTANT Replacement battery (type V MN), can be any alkaline battery. Replacement batteries (type D Cell and PP3) must be Micromark, (GP) Golden Power or Duracell alkaline types. Never use rechargeable batteries. CHECK LIST Is the house code the same on the PIRs, door contacts and siren/control panel? Are all the batteries correctly installed?
4 SETTING UP THE KEYPAD 3 Open the door and press the catch to release the keypad from its case. The case should be installed in the entry/exit zone (zone ) to allow you time to arm and disarm the system when you enter or exit the property, before the external siren sounds. The keypad can be used in or out of its case. Loosen the screw securing the back of the keypad and lift away the back. Remove the protective strip from the battery terminal. The positive (+) mark on the battery must face the positive (+) mark on the case for correct polarity. PROTECTIVE STRIP Please note: Replacement battery (type V MN), can be any alkaline battery. Never use rechargeable batteries. When replacing the battery, do so within 5 minutes of removng the old battery, otherwise the keypad will default to preset factory settings. You need to activate your keypad. For security, the keypad will not work until a valid 0-digit house code is electronically entered. The keypad has been set with a default factory house code which is unlikely to match the binary codes on the sensors. Make a note of the house code switch positions set on the control panel/siren, PIR, door contacts or keyfob on the blank template, below. ON OFF Now reprogramme your keypad following the procedure below. Before you can use the keypad, you have to programme in the House Code SETTING UP THE HOUSE CODE The house code can be entered electronically by pressing: for ON 0 for OFF. Example Press 0 # to exit programming mode (the LED will turn off). Switch = ON OFF 0-digit house code is While in programming mode, the keys must be pressed within 5 seconds, otherwise the keypad will revert to normal mode. To set house code press #. The LED will flash. Then press # (the LED will still be flashing). Enter your 0-digit house code by pressing for ON and 0 for OFF (e.g ). The keypad will give a long bleep on the 0th digit. (You cannot do this until the alarm tone changes.) Install the keypad and case in a convenient location in your entry/exit zone and out of reach of young children Use the back of the case as a template and mark the positions for the fixing screws. Drill the holes to a depth of 5mm and insert the masonry plugs. Fix the case to the wall with the screws supplied. 6
7 INSTALLING THE PIRS TEST PINS Power Save Jump Link 3 Power Save Jump Link Zone Zone 3 Zone Zone Jump Link Release the fixing screw and remove the back casing. Identify the Power Saver Jump Link and the Zone Jump Link. To save battery power and lengthen the operational life of the battery, move the Power Saver Jumper Link from covering both the test pins, to covering only one pin. See section on Power Saving page 8. (NOTE: It is very important that you do this! Removing the power saving Zone Jump Link jump link will cause the sensor to move into sleep mode rearming itself after 5 mins. This means that the sensor will not transmit detections during this period, thus prolonging the battery life. After each activation of the sensor you have to wait for 5 minutes for it to rearm itself.) Check that the Zone Jump Link is fitted to the Zone pins that correspond to the zone in which the sensor is going to be fitted. Zone = Entry/exit (time delay zone); Zone = Instant; Zone 3 = Instant or Part Guard. INSTALLING THE DOOR CONTACTS 3 5mm 4 Transmitter Zone 3 Zone The PIRs can be fixed to the wall with sticky pads (supplied) or with screws. If screwing to the wall, use the back casing as a template and mark the position for the fixing holes. Drill holes to a depth of 5mm deep and insert masonry plugs. Use the fixing screws supplied and fix to wall. Clip the PIR to the back casing and secure with the screw. Please note: If the LED operational Jump Link has been removed (page 3) the LED will not flash but the operation of the PIR will not be affected. Power Saver Jump Link or Remove the screw and lift off the cover. To save battery power and lengthen the operational life of the battery, move the Power Saver Jumper Link from covering both the test pins, to covering only one pin. (See NOTE on Installing the PIRs section Step, above.) Check that the Zone Jump Link is fitted to the Zone pins that correspond to the zone in which the door contact is to be fitted. Reassemble the transmitter case. The door contact transmitter can be fitted either to the door or door frame, and on either side of the door contact. Take care if fitting to upvc doors or windows. You can use self-tapping screws or self-adhesive pads. 7 Using the bracket supplied, mark the fixing position of transmitter on the edge of the opening. Fit with screws supplied. Fit the door contact noting that the transmitter and door contact must not be more than 5mm apart when installed. Fit the cap covers to the door contact and clip transmitter unit to bracket.
8 INSTALLING THE Follow safety precautions when using ladders. Remove the batteries and use the backplate as a template to mark the position for the top keyhole slot fixing screw. Drill a hole 5mm deep and insert a masonry plug. Insert a fixing screw but leave enough thread to hang the backplate on. Hang the backplate on the top screw and mark the position for the two bottom fixing screws. Remove the backplate and drill the holes to a depth of 5mm and insert masonry plugs. Tamper Jump Link Secure the backplate to the mounting surface and make sure the anti-tamper switch is fully depressed by hearing a click as it is compressed. If the mounting surface is uneven so it does not fully depress the switch, re-position the siren. Remove the Tamper Jump Link from covering both pins and place it on one of the pins for storage. Note: when the jump link covers both pins, the anti-tamper facility is bypassed. POWER SAVER JUMP LINKS IMPORTANT: We recommend that Power Saver Jump Links on the sensors are removed on installation. If this is not done, the operational life of the batteries will be significantly reduced. The system has been designed to expect a 3-year life from the set of six batteries in the External Siren/Strobe and to 6 to -months life (depending on usage), from one set of batteries in each RF PIR and RF door contact transmitter, under normal operating conditions. Replacement batteries must be GP (Golden Power) alkaline or Duracell alkaline types for maximum operating life. 3 4 Anti-tamper switch CHECK LIST Are the Power Saver Jump Links removed on PIRs and door contact transmitter? The anti-tamper switch provides 4-hour protection against the control panel/siren being removed. If the unit is removed the siren will activate. Replace batteries and refit the cover. Do not use force in locating the cover over the backplate otherwise the contact pins may be damaged. Use the allen key supplied, and tighten for a weatherproof seal. Periodically, clean the solar panel window for optimum operation. Are the Zone Links set to the correct zone? Is the anti-tamper switch fully depressed when installing control panel/siren? 8

This gives you enough time to arm and disarm the system when the keypad is left in its keypad. Press the TRANSMIT button firmly for second. The LED illuminates on the keypad and you hear a bleep from the siren. 0 seconds later the siren bleeps again confirming that it is armed. Press # and then the transmit button. The LED will flash and the siren will bleep 3 times. If you have changed the password from (see page ), you will have to use the new number. PANIC ALARM PART GUARD Hold the TRANSMIT button down for 5 seconds. The LED on the keypad will flash and the siren will sound. After 30 seconds, the alarm tone will change. Press # and TRANSMIT to disarm. (You cannot do this until the alarm tone changes.) Press the TRANSMIT button firmly for second. The keypad LED illuminates and the siren bleeps once. Press the TRANSMIT button again for second (within 5 seconds). The keypad LED illuminates and you hear bleeps from the siren. 0 seconds later the siren will bleep twice confirming the system is armed and the zone sensors are set for part guard. The system is part guarded with only zone 3 unarmed. 0 To disarm press # and then the TRANSMIT button within 5 seconds. The siren will bleep 3 times and the system will disarm.
11 CHANGING YOUR PASSWORD The keypad comes factory set to a standard 4-digit password. This password code is the signal by which the keypad recognises a legitimate user. We recommend that you change this code to a 4-digit password code of your own choosing. Each member of your family or household will have to know this code and how to use it. If you change the password from the factory set code then this new password is the number to use for all procedures shown in these instructions. To change the factory set code: ukpanels.com While in programming mode, the keys must be pressed within 5 seconds, otherwise the keypad will revert to normal mode.??? 3? # Press # Press # to go into password programming mode. ANTI-JAMMING The system is fitted with an anti-jamming circuit. If it receives an unwanted radio signal for a given time, it will trigger the alarm. If the alarm is continuously triggering for no apparent reason, first try changing the House Code switches to new settings including the sensors (see section opposite). If changing the House Code switches does not work check that the anti-tamper switch is fully depressed. If this fails, telephone the Micromark Helpline or cut the Wire Link inside the external Siren/Strobe. (This disables the anti-jamming circuit. Phone Helpline for advice.) Enter in your new 4-digit password and #. Press 0 # to exit programming mode. CHANGING HOUSE CODE SWITCHES These are random set at the factory and matched across all items contained within the kit. You can change these to new settings of your own choice if required. If for example, your neighbour has the same settings, you may find that their sensors can trigger your Alarm, so you should alter your House Code switch settings. Please take note that all system components must be set to the same House Code in order for the system to work. The diagram below is for keeping a record of your personal sequence. Remember that the keypad will have to be re-programmed if the house code is changed on the control panel/siren, door contact, keyfob and PIRs ON CUT LINK EXAMPLE: ON OFF OFF OFF
