2 Introduction - Jim Dotoli(Chief) since January Member of HFD since 2001 held the ranks for Firefighter, Captain, Asst. Chief and Deputy Chief. - Resident of Huntersville since Started in the fire service when I was 18 years old - 22 years of experience - Member of Charlotte Fire Department since 2001 hold the rank of Captain on Ladder 18 that runs over 3,500 calls a year.

5 Call Volume 4,728 apparatus responses in Calls: 3, Calls :3, Calls: 3, calls for each month in October and November Average response time in 2017: 5.46 minutes Average response time 2016: 6.00 minutes 75% of all calls occurred between 8am-10pm.

7 Department Staffing All stations are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year Part time staffing is the key keeps Huntersville from raising taxes Cost roughly under $700,000 to operate a HFD station. Day Staffing (All Stations) 19 firefighters are on duty during the day Night Staffing (4 Stations) 16 are on duty during the night HFD still relies on members who volunteer their time

Certifications Held: Firefighter, EMT, Rescue Tech, Swift Water, Trench, Confined Space, Collapse, Haz-Material, Dive, Officer and Instructor certifications.

13 Insurance (ISO) Rating ISO Insurance Service Office, organization that provides statistical information on RISK. The lower the rating, the better. Ratings are Our current Insurance (ISO) Rating 4 as of 2015 Class 4 inside / outside Huntersville City Limits ALL HOMES are within a 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant Benefits homeowners and attracts businesses The Fire Department is the only department capable of lowering residential and business insurance premiums by lowering the ISO rating

14 Going Forward Goals Goal #1: Increase Staffing Each year, our calls for service steadily increase. Our response volume continues to increase approximately 20% each year projecting the FY18 response volume to reach nearly 5,743 responses per annum. The substantial growth of the Huntersville Fire Protection District puts a greater demand on the day to day emergency and nonemergency services provided by the Department. HFD is requesting an increase to command staff at for each day, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. 2 chiefs are needed daily to maintain and safely lead firefighters during incidents.

15 Going Forward Goals Goal #2: Land for station #5 With the constant growth of the town comes the growth of Huntersville Fire Dept. The need to obtain land for future growth and to build station #5.HFD is asking to town commissioners this year to give us the go ahead to obtain 4-5 acres in this vicinity. Bond money that is currently building station 4 the other half will be used to build station #5. We are looking at a 2020 Station #5 build. With the constant price increase of building materials this is a must need to keep the cost on budget.
