3 1. Remarks Any use of the MSI Sensit requires a full understanding and strict adherence to these instructions and to the national and international regulations and standards. The instrument is only to be used for the purposes specified here. 2. The Leakage Detector The MSI Sensit HXG is an electronic leakage detector to detect different combustible and toxic gases. 1. Leakage Detection 3.1 First Use Take the Sensit out of its case and push a coin into the battery compartment opener (4.). Pull down the grip and the battery compartment will open. Put in the batteries like it is shown on the compartments drawing and push the grip back until it closes with a click. The MSI Sensit is ready for use now. D of 4 Edition

4 3.2 Warming Up Turn on the instrument in a non contaminated atmosphere by moving the on /off switch (8) to "ON". Turn the tick adjust (3) clockwise, until you hear a ticking sound and see the alarm light flashing. During the warming up the tick rate will become quicker and after a short time, it becomes slower again. Turn the tick adjust (3) counter clockwise, until you hear a uniform slow ticking sound. Only then the warming up is finished correct. 3.3 Operating Hints The earphone may be plugged in to the unit if there is a high background noise or you do not want to disturb other people. An increase in the tick rate means you are getting closer to the leak source and a decrease means you are moving away from the leak source. If the tick rate becomes fast, slower it by turning the tick adjust wheel counter clockwise. If the gas concentration increases 10 % of L.E.L. (methane) the alarm light begins flashing and an audible warbling sound is generated. To continue searching for the leak depress the "Quiet Alarm" button on the back of the Instrument, then the ticking sound will continue to work as normal while the alarm light continues flashing. After you have pinpointed the leak source, switch off the MSI Sensit for saving the batteries energy. 4. Service and Maintenance A regular maintenance of the MSI Sensit is not necessary, the correct function should be tested from time to time by using test gas. After malfunctions occurred or a sensor defect is shown (see "4. Errors During Operation") the MSI Sensit has to be serviced by authorized service people. D of 4 Edition
