OPERATION AND TESTING The Control Panel is connected to the normally closed Firecycle detector circuit, power supply, and electrical alarms. When a Firecycle detector operates, the Control Panel initiates the appropriate signals, based on the dip switch settings of the panel. (Refer to Section 9: Installation Instructions.) When the Firecycle detectors reset: 1. The soak timer is energized, allowing waterflow to continue for a predetermined time period from 30 seconds to 15 minutes. (Refer to Figure 3, Page 433 e.) 2. At the end of the timer period, the Firecycle Control Panel de-energizes a normally closed solenoid valve, allowing the Flow Control Valve to re-prime and close, stopping the flow of water to the sprinkler system piping. The SYSTEM RESET button resets the timer and alarm circuits, and de-energizes a normally open solenoid valve, allowing the system to be returned to normal service. Tests It is imperative that the system be inspected and tested on a regular basis. Refer to "INSPECTIONS and TESTS" recommended in current Viking Technical Data describing individual components of the Firecycle III System. The frequency of the inspections may vary due to contaminated water supplies, corrosive water supplies, corrosive atmospheres, as well as the condition of the air supply to the system (if applicable). For minimum maintenance and inspection requirements, refer to the National Fire Protection Association Pamphlet that describes care and maintenance of sprinkler systems. In addition, the Authority Having Jurisdiction may have additional maintenance, testing, and inspection requirements which must be followed. Prior to proceeding with tests: A. Verify that installation complies with instructions in the Firecycle III Owner s Manual provided with the panel and the appropriate Viking Field Wiring Diagrams. B. Notify the Authority Having Jurisdiction and all those in the area affected by the test. 11.
