3 Karns Volunteer Fire Department, Knoxville, TN Administrative Consultant, August 2009 thru Present Provide administrative services to the Karns Volunteer Fire Department as requested by the Operations Chief or Board of Directors. Duties include policy and procedure development and advisement, department administration, and training. Also write, review, and administer grants at the local, state, and federal level. Training Officer, March 2008 thru August 2009 Provided training for entire fire department consisting of nearly 80 volunteer members and four paid personnel. Duties included design and development of training program within state, federal, ISO, and NFPA guidelines, ensuring certification renewals for members, organizing certification testing, and general compliance of the department for training requirements. Board of Directors (Chairman), July 2008 thru July 2009 Served as chairman of the board of directors for an over $500,000 not for profit organization. Duties included oversight of the financial well being of the fire department, by-laws interpretations, future planning, budget approval, and providing input on large financial expenditures. Lieutenant May 2007 thru March 2008 Served as station lieutenant for the busiest fire station in Karns Volunteer Fire Department s jurisdiction.
