Our three main brands Concord, Lumiance and Sylvania concentrate strengths in innovative product design, engineering and production, plus application expertise, in their specialised areas of activity: high-end architectural, decorative and functional professional lighting respectively. Our 2007 acquisition, by Havells India Ltd, gives us the financial strength and resources to significantly expand and improve the business. The group, which has 94 branches and representative offices and 8,000 staff in more than 50 countries, has grown rapidly to become a US$ 1.2 billion company with 18 manufacturing plants in India, Europe, Latin America and Africa, producing globally acclaimed products such as switchgear, cables, wiring devices and lighting. 4 Energy saving lighting controls for commercial, hospitality and residential premises Why control energy consumption? With lighting now one of a building owner s largest expenses and Europe seeking to rapidly address climate change, improving energy efficiency is crucial. 19% Total global electricity production consumed by grid-based electric lighting. 43% Total electricity used by lighting in commercial and public sector buildings. Source: IEA (International Energy Agency) 60% Reduction in energy used for lighting that building owners can achieve by installing occupancy detectors The lighting may be on unnecessarily whilst all or part of the building isn t being used, and it is not uncommon to find buildings still fully illuminated at night after the cleaners do their rounds. Furthermore, if the building receives adequate natural light for part of the day, then artificial lighting is not required and could be switched off or dimmed. Aside from encouraging or appointing people to switch off unwanted lighting, the simplest and most significant method of saving energy and reducing carbon emissions in your building is by employing occupancylinked lighting controls. By eliminating all unwanted use of light these devices can cut your energy costs by up to 60% (dependent on occupancy behaviour and the amount of natural light available). However, providing efficient and effective lighting schemes is not enough. Additional, and often substantial, savings can be made by switching off lights in unoccupied spaces. Our occupancy detectors offer many benefits: Cut energy costs by up to 60% Reduce carbon emissions Help comply with carbon reduction legislation and building regulations, the majority of which call for the use of lighting controls Improve safety Are unobtrusive to occupants Intuitive and user friendly with optional handheld controllers Easy to install, program or re-program should the requirements change 4 OCCUPANCY DETECTORS

Understanding occupancy and absence detection Occupancy detection The lights switch on automatically when the entrance or occupancy of a person is detected by the sensor. Our stand-alone occupancy detectors will also switch off automatically when no movement is detected after the pre-set time delay. Application: Energy efficient, convenient and cost effective. Generally used instead of a conventional switch. Popular solution for corridors, meeting rooms or storage rooms. Absence detection When a person enters the room the lights need to be switched on manually, but on departure are switched off automatically by the sensor after a pre-set time delay. Note: Lights can also be switched off manually. Application: Popular solution for school classrooms. OCCUPANCY DETECTORS 5

Occupancy detectors Technology guide Here is our technology guide to help you choose the right detector for your needs. PIR vs. Microwave detectors PIR (Passive InfraRed): works on detecting the movement of body heat. Better suited to smaller spaces or where a defined detection pattern is required. Microwave: sensitive to objects that move, with much greater coverage. Mircrowave detectors can detect through glass, therefore careful consideration on location is needed in certain applications. PIR (Passive InfraRed) Microwave Occupancy-linked switching with lux level sensing Ideal for switching lighting in rooms with natural daylight. These occupancy detectors have built-in adjustable lux sensors to instruct the luminaires to remain off when the ambient light level is above the pre-set target level. All ceiling / wall mounted occupancy detectors can be configured remotely via a hand-held commissioning tool. 6 No occupancy detected, daylight, lights off Occupancy detected, sufficient daylight, lights off Occupancy detected, insufficient daylight, all lights on No occupancy detected, lights off OCCUPANCY DETECTORS

Occupancy-linked switching with lux level sensing and dimming In addition to detecting occupancy, these detectors maintain approximate light levels (lux) whilst using the minimum amount of energy by dimming the outputs of the lights being controlled. Ideal for applications where maximum efficiency and flexibility are required. Luminaires equipped with low-voltage controlled dimming ballasts, e.g. DALI or 1-10V (or DSI, on request), can be linked to the dimming detector, which measures the overall light level in the detection area and calculates the correct output for the luminaires to maintain an approximate fixed illuminance (at a pre-set lux level), thereby saving energy by maximising the use of daylight. Such control also compensates for common situations where the ageing of lamps and accumulation of dirt on luminaires would otherwise provide less light, by gradually increasing illuminance to the correct level. It will also compensate the other way round e.g. by dimming on new installations where the initial brightness of the new lamps provides substantially higher light levels than actually required. No occupancy detected, daylight, lights off Occupancy detected, some daylight. Lights on and dimmed to maintain lux level No occupancy detected, lights off Occupancy detected, sufficient daylight, lights off Occupancy detected, insufficient daylight. Dimming detector measures and implements maintained illuminance OCCUPANCY DETECTORS 7

Direct DIM - Extra features Two channel flexibility As mentioned, the dimming channel of the DALI detector can be employed to control the light output of luminaires fitted with DALI dimming ballasts. The detector measures the overall light level in the detection area and calculates the correct output for the luminaires, to maintain an approximate pre-set lux level (maintained or constant illuminance). The switching channel of the detector can either be used to isolate the supply to the dimming ballasts (saving on the standby current of the ballasts) or to switch a separate channel of standard, non-dimming luminaires. The flexibility of having dual channels and switch inputs opens up the following scenarios: Step-down Illuminance In some instances it may be undesirable and inconvenient to switch off lights immediately should no movement or occupancy be detected for a period of time. Dimming detectors can be programmed to lower light levels to a predefined value, after sensing no movement. After a subsequent preset time, the detectors would then turn the lights off. Scene setting & recall Dimming detectors enable the user to set and recall desired room lighting levels. For instance, a meeting room would require a different task illuminance if used for a multimedia presentation. Scenes are recalled using handheld controller ( ). 1. Dim perimeter luminaires whilst internal luminaires are switched 2. Provides absence detection for two separate channels 3. Maintained illuminance system with manual up/down controls Two input terminals can be used to manually override the controls. Lamp burn-in Certain manufacturers state that dimming a new lamp within early hours of use can shorten its life, thereby invalidating its warranty. The dimming burn-in feature relies on intelligent software programming to prevent new lamps from being dimmed during this initial period. Load capacity DALI detectors can control up to 20 dimming ballasts. The pair of conductors for the DALI cable must be <300m long and at least 1.5mm 2 cross-sectional-area. The DALI connection must not be wired in a loop. 1-10V detectors can control up to 10 dimming ballasts. DD=Digital Dim DALI* (*DSI available on request) AD=Analogue Dim 1 10V 8 OCCUPANCY DETECTORS

Programming and local over ride Dimming detectors include infra-red receivers thus allowing them to be programmed remotely using the optional handheld programming device. This gives total control over most of the operating parameters without having to access the detectors themselves. Manual adjustments may also be made to the sensitivity, lux and time settings using controls on the detectors Handheld controller Use this handset to remotely override the system detectors to turn lights on or off, adjust lux levels or select pre-set levels. Handheld controller Use this handset to override the system detectors to turn lighting on or off Handheld programming devices ( and ) The handsets enable programming and control of all dimming functionality including: Handheld controller Use this handset to override the system detectors to turn lighting off.
