This is the first Fire Explorer Post in the City of Santa Ana. Currently, the Fire Explorers continue to conduct weekly training and education in addition to participating in local events. There have been no changes in membership and they continue to participate in ride-a-longs and station level training.

2 2 P a g e M O N T H E N D R E P O R T F E B R U A R Y Significant Emergency Incidents February 2015 (In support of City Strategic Plan Strategy 6b) Structure Fire- February 4 th Incident Commander: Chief Phillips Cause: Under Investigation Structure Fire- February 4 th Incident Commander: Chief Phillips Cause: Under Investigation Structure Fire- February 16 th Incident Commander: Chief Spencer Cause: Accidental/Plumber Structure Fire- February 17 th Incident Commander: Engine 75 Cause: Under Investigation At 10:42 a.m. a structure fire response was dispatched to the are of South Bear Street and West MacArthur Boulevard in Santa Ana for the report of smoke coming from a structure. Units arrived in the area and determined the fire was in the residence on West Deerefield Road and requested the balance of the working structure fire response. The primary and secondary all clears were given at 10:59 a.m. and the fire was declared under control at approximately 12 p.m. One civilian with burn injuries was treated and released at the scene. Red Cross was requested to assist. At 4:52 p.m., a structure fire response was dispatched to West Stevens Avenue in Santa Ana. First arriving units found light smoke in the area and began investigating. A fire was found in the bathroom of the downstairs apartment. The primary all clear was given at 5:03 p.m. and the fire contained at 5:13 p.m. to a water heater closet. One civilian with smoke inhalation was treated and released at the scene. Red Cross was requested to assist. At 11:07 a.m., ECC dispatched a structure response to South Main Street in Santa Ana. Initial reports stated a possible water heater fire. At 11:17 a.m., Battalion 9 arrived on scene and assumed the Columbine Incident Command. At 11:26 a.m., Battalion 9 requested a working structure response upgrade for possible extensions to additional apartments. At 11:40 a.m., Battalion 9 reported all utilities off and requested representatives from Gas and Edison Company. The fire was placed under control at 11:50 a.m. The first alarm assignment was committed for salvage and overhaul of three occupancies. At 9:40 a.m. a Structure Fire response was dispatched to West 1 st Street in Santa Ana. First arriving units found an abandon and boarded up two story single family dwelling that was fully involved in fire and asked for the balance of the Working Structure Fire Response. The primary all clear was given at 10:00 a.m. and the fire was brought under control at approximately 11:00 a.m. City building officials were requested to assist at the scene.
