1 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS N99V /99 PRM Polarity Reversing Module What is the PRM? The PRM Polarity Reversing Module is used to reverse the polarity of the positive and negative voltages powering smoke detectors. The module is intended to be used with -wire smoke detectors that employ a sounder and voltage reversing feature. If more than one smoke detector is attached to a particular system, and one smoke detector detects smoke, the Module will reverse the polarity and all the detectors will sound the alarm. The module is triggered by a pulsing bell output. Compatible Smoke Detectors The PRM may be used with the System Sensor /AT and similar models with the required operating features previously stated. Where to Mount the PRM Mount the PRM inside the control panel s cabinet or in a separate cabinet using the double-sided tape provided. How to Wire the PRM Wire the PRM as shown in the diagrams on the following pages. These diagrams are examples of possible installations. The following note applies to all the control panels shown. The PRM reverses polarity to smoke detectors with Integral Temp- Sounders. Typically, in alarm, each draws 9-0 ma of current. Some control panels only supply enough current for one smoke detector. In order to attach more than one, an external power supply and an external relay may be required. See the panel s Installation Guide for further instructions on -wire smoke detectors and current output capacity. How to Use the If interrupting the (-) leg of power to the smoke detector, set jumper P to the A position. If interrupting the () leg of power to the smoke detector, set the jumper P to the B position. See the following diagrams for specific settings. This warranty replaces any previous warranties and is the only warranty made by Seller on this product.
