Alarms in OneView Alarms are an excellent way for user to know what is happening with their assets without having to log into OneView. An alarm will alert the user of changing conditions through and/or text message. Types of Alarms The list below has the predefined alarms users can set up for their assets. The alarms available to users are based on the asset categories they monitor. If these alarms do not meet the user s needs they can configure advanced alarms, which we will cover later in this section. 1

Setting up Alarms There are multiple ways for a user to access the Alarms Configuration screen. 1. First, click on Settings in the upper right corner of OneView. Then click Alarm Configuration. OR 1. Click on the asset that the alarm will be configured for from the menu tree on the left side of OneView. The asset s detail screen will appear in the right window. Click on the Alarms Config. tab, located across the top of the screen. 2. Click on Configure a New Alarm OR 2

1. Click on the Alarm Bell at the top right corner. 2. Click on Alarm Configurations on the right. 3. Click on Configure a New Alarm Either option will bring the user to the Alarm Configuration screen (see next page) where you can click on any alarm to set it up on your assets, tanks or drivers according to the category of the alarm. 3

Alarm Configuration Alarms 4

Customize Alarm Parameters Once an alarm is selected from the list on the left, the alarm parameters populate on the right side of the window. There are multiple fields the user will need to complete, depending on which alarm is selected. Alarm Name: customize the name of the alarm to help you organize which alarms are set on which assets. Set Level: you can choose Notice, Warning, or Critical levels for each alarm. The color badge next to the alarm bell on an assets summary card will show yellow for Notice, orange for Warning, or red for Critical level alarms. Other: Set any other parameters as needed for each alarm. The requirements for each will be slightly different depending on the alarm selected. 5

Assets: Use the asset selector wrench to choose the asset or the group of assets for this alarm. Notification: When alarms trigger, the bell at the top right will show a list of each alarm and details about it. However you can set any alarm to notify selected users by and/or text message. Repeat Notifications: The system will keep repeating the alarm notifications until someone acknowledges the alarm in OneView. This is so that important alarms do not go unnoticed. Set them for any amount of time. Create Job: The alarm can trigger a maintenance job by clicking on Create Job and choosing the maintenance template and Due Date time frame. 6

Enabled: Check this box to make this alarm an active alarm. If you want to disable this alarm, uncheck this box. Auto Resolve: Check this box to have the alarm resolve automatically when it is no longer valid. Without this box checked, users will see a resolve button when they look at their triggered alarms. A new alarm will not be able to trigger until the firs alarm is resolved. Auto Resolve Need to Resolve Save your alarm when you ve finished adding all of the details and parameters. To verify an alarm, click on Settings in the upper right corner of OneView and click Alarm Configuration. List of Configured Alarms A list of active alarms will display. Verify there is a Collection, Name, Level, and Notification for each alarm listed. If any information is missing or if the user would like to change any parameters, click Edit. To stop an alarm from triggering, click Disable. To remove an alarm from the list, click Delete. 7

Acknowledging an Alert To review or acknowledge triggered alarms, click on the bell icon in the upper right corner of OneView. When alarms are triggered, a number will display over the bell, indicating the number of alarms that have been triggered. If there is no number displayed, no alarms have been triggered or all triggered alarms have been acknowledged or resolved. Once the bell icon is clicked, a list of current alarms will display. i. To acknowledge an alarm notification, click Acknowledge. Once clicked, the user s name will display under the Acknowledger column (in place of the Acknowledge button). Any repeat notifications that have been set for the alarm will stop once an alarm is acknowledged. ii. To resolve an alarm and remove it from the current list, click Resolve. Once resolved, an alarm will be cleared from the Current list, but can still be found by clicking on the Acknowledge Time column dropdown. Note: To Acknowledge or Resolve multiple alarms at the same time, check the boxes to the left of the desired alarms or click Select All at the top of the list. Click the Acknowledge Selected or Resolve Selected button. 8

i. iii. To review the parameters for an alarm, click on the alarm name under the Configuration Name column or click on the alarm s View Details button. Users can also Acknowledge or Resolve an alarm from the details screen by clicking either button. Once resolved, an alarm will be cleared from the Current list, but can still be found by using the time option in Alarm Start Time or Acknowledge Time columns. Note: To Acknowledge or Resolve multiple alarms at the same time, check the boxes to the left of the desired alarms or click Select All at the top of the list. Click the Acknowledge Selected or Resolve Selected button. iii. To review the parameters for an alarm, click on the alarm name under the Configuration Name column or click on the alarm s View Details button. Users can also Acknowledge or Resolve an alarm from the details screen by clicking either button. Advanced Configuration on Alarms If a user would like an alarm that is different from one of the predefined alarms, an advanced alarm can be configured. Advanced alarms can be based on any of the parameters being monitored on the assets. 9

1. Go to your Alarm Configuration list (See the first few steps in this document) and choose Advanced Configuration at the bottom right corner. 2. A new screen will appear with three tabs: Details, Conditions, and Notifications. To configure an advanced alarm, all three tabs will need to be completed. By default, the Details tab appears first. a. Name: Create a name for the alarm. b. Description: Write a short description of the alarm. c. Assets: Select the asset(s) the user would like the alarm set up for. Note: When selecting collections for advanced alarms, users can only select one asset grouping or a single asset. For example, if a user was configuring an alarm for coolant temperatures they would be able to select the Truck asset grouping or the Trailer asset grouping. If they wanted to select both, they would need to set up two separate alarms. d. Alarm Level: This is a drop down field to select the severity of the alarm. Users can choose from Notice, Warning or Critical. e. Enabled: To activate the alarm, check the Enabled box. f. Notifications: In order to receive notifications for this alarm, the Notifications box must be checked. g. Users should check this box if they want the alarm to resolve automatically when it is no longer valid. 3. Click on the Conditions tab in the upper left corner or click Next in the lower right corner. 10

a. Empty Box: This is a Drag and Drop section. Drag items from boxes b-f into this box to define the criteria for the alarm. b. Attributes: Click the box to expand the options. The parameters being pulled from the asset will be listed. Drag and drop the parameters to be included in the alarm into box a. c. Math: Click the box to expand the options. Select the correct math symbol to go with the attributes or select the 123 option to enter a number. d. Logic: Click the box to expand the options. Select a Logic if it applies to the alarm. Users can select between OR, AND, or NOT. i. OR alarm will be triggered when either criteria are met ii. AND alarm will be triggered when both criteria are met iii. NOT excludes criteria from triggering an alarm e. Comparison: Click the box to expand the options. Select a comparison if it applies to the alarm. Users can choose from less than, greater than, equal to, not equal to, less than or equal to, greater than or equal to. f. Functions: Click the box to expand the options. Choose a function if it applies to the alarm. Users can select from MAX, MIN, CEIL, FLOOR and ABS. a. MAX - function that returns the maximum value from a list of values passed to it. b. MIN functions that returns the minimum value from a list of values passed to it. c. CEIL - function that returns the largest previous integer value of the variable passed to it (if used on an integer it will return that integer value). d. FLOOR - function that returns the lowest next integer value of the variable passed to it (if used on an integer it will return that integer value) e. ABS - function that returns the absolute value of the variable passed to it. g. Input: Users can place a place text or a number in the condition. h. Validate Expression: Once the user has finished dragging items from boxes b-f, click the Validate Expression button. Any errors that would prevent the alarm from working properly will be listed to the right of the button. If no errors are found, the user can move to the next tab. Note: Users do not need to choose something from each of the sections, b-f. Items only need to be selected based on the alarm the user would like to configure. 11

4. Click on the Notifications tab in the upper left corner or click Next in the lower right corner. Click the Add Notification Group button. 5. The Notifications tab will be the same for all advanced alarms. a. Name: Type the name of the person the notification will be sent to. In the drop down to the right, select if they would like to receive the notification by , text or and text. Note: The notifications must go to a current user in OneView. Contact your Account Manager to add a new user. b. Add Contact: If more than one user should receive the notifications, click this button and follow the instructions for box a. c. Repeat Notification: Enter the number indicating how often the notification should repeat. In the drop down, choose minute(s), hour(s), day(s), week(s), or month(s). If the user does not want the alarm to repeat until acknowledged, enter a 0 value here. d. Remove Notification Group: Click this button to remove notification criteria. e. Add Notification Group: To add additional notification groups, click this button and repeat steps a-c. Note: Many users configure additional notification groups as an escalation path to ensure alarms are being acknowledged and resolved. 6. When finished, click Save in the lower right corner. 12
