1 Moen Commercial Products Eco-Performance Product Guide Learn how the use of MOEN Commercial Products What is LEED? The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED gives building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings performance. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. LEED provides a road map for measuring and documenting success for every building type and phase of a building lifecycle. The new LEED 2009 rating system requires buildings to use 20% less water than the water use baseline created by the federal water efficiency standards for plumbing fixtures and fixture fittings required by the US energy Policy Act of Moen Commercial Products can contribute up to an 80% reduction according to these standards for maximum water use. LEED V3 requires that buildings employ strategies that in aggregate use 20% less water than the water usage base line calculated for the building and award between 2-4 points for a water use reduction from 30-40% for new construction, major renovation and schools; 6-11 points for water use reduction from 30-40% for commercial interiors; and 1-5 points for water use reduction from 10-30% for existing buildings.
