DIECTION FO UE IMPOTANT: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product. ETICTION. Do not use on crops which are suffering from stress at the time of application, if adverse weather is expected, or conditions are waterlogged, where there is a compaction layer, poorly drained soils or crops grown in a poor seed bed. 2. Do not apply to crops growing in poor conditions such as brashy or stony soils. 3. In these situations damage may occur although this may be outgrown. 4. Do not overlap spray swaths.. Extreme care should be taken to avoid damage by drift onto plants outside the target area. 6. For use preemergence, drill the seed to a depth of mm and ensure covered with soil before spraying as it is important that the herbicide does not reach the seed. 7. In addition, when applying to brassicas in particular, ensure roots are well covered by soil. 8. Where seedbeds are fluffy and loose, ensure they are consolidated before applying TALWAT. 9. Do not use as a preemergence treatment on broadcast crops. 0. If preemergence application is not possible due to poor seedbed/soil conditions or adverse weather, then apply postemergence.. Do not use filters finer than 0 mesh. 2. In frosty conditions some transient damage may be seen. 3. Wash all equipment thoroughly after use as traces of TALWAT left in the spray tank may cause damage to susceptible crops treated later. 4. Consult processors before treating crops to be processed.. On winter oilseed rape do not apply on light or stony soils, or use preemergence at full rate on dry cloddy seedbeds, when heavy rain is forecast, or on late drilled crops (end first week eptember in cotland and Northern England, and mid eptember for the rest of the UK). 2 TALWAT MAPP 740
4 6. Transplanted brassicae plants that are block raised for transplanting should be treated with care as they may be particularly sensitive. 7. The plants must be hardened off and well established before treating. 8. Irrigation may be required to get to this stage, apply TALWAT after irrigation. 9. Ornamental plant production, nursery fruit trees ensure plants are hardenedoff and well established before applying TALWAT. 20. Do not apply if crops are under stress or have soft vigorously growing foliage, or in extremes of conditions such as very hot or cold weather, or under sunny conditions. 2. Not all species of trees and shrubs can be treated, therefore it is important to test a small area first to check for sensitivity before treating the whole area. ome damage may occur which should normally grow out. The following species are more tolerant but should still be tested on a small area first. Useful weed control can be obtained on organic soils with an organic matter above 0%, but control may decrease as organic matter increases. hrubs Berberis Cotoneaster Cornus Euonymus Forsythia Hippophae Hypericum Trees Acer Aesculus Allanthus Alnus Amelanchia Betula Carpinus Castanea Catalpa Chamaecyparis Ilex Ligustrum Mahonia Philadelphus Potentilla hamnus ibes osa Crataegus Davidia Fagus Gleditsia Juniperus Larix Malus Nothofagus Ostrya Picea ubus ambucus pirea tephanandra ymphoricarpus Tamarix Weigela Platanus Poplulus Prunus Pseudotsuga Pyrus Quercus alix orbus Thuja Tilia EITANCE trains of some annual grasses e.g blackgrass, wildoats and Italian ryegrass have developed resistance to herbicides which may lead to poor control. A strategy for preventing and managing such resistance should be adopted. Guidelines have been produced by the Weed esistance Action Group (WAG) and copies are available from HGCA, CPA, your distributor, crop advisor or product manufacturer. epeated use of herbicides with the same mode of action can increase the risk of strains of weeds developing resistance to these compounds, leading to poor control. In order to minimise the risk, a strategy for preventing and managing such resistance should be adopted. Use products with different modes of action and from different chemical groups in sequence or tankmix, in conjunction with effective cropping rotation and cultivation techniques. In all cases the recommended rate of use should be adhered to. Follow WAG guidelines. KEY ELEMENT OF THE EITANCE MANAGEMENT TATEGY FO TALWAT Always follow WAG guidelines for preventing and managing herbicide resistant weeds. Maximise the use of cultural control measures wherever possible (e.g. crop rotation, ploughing, stale seedbeds, delayed drilling etc). Use tank mixes or sequences of effective herbicides with different modes of action within individual crops, or successive crops. For the control of herbicide resistant grass weeds, always use TALWAT in sequence with other effective graminicides with different modes of action. Monitor fields regularly and investigate the reasons for any poor control. COP PECIFIC WEED CONTOL Apply TALWAT preemergence of the weeds. Weed control will be best achieved if soils are moist at the time of application or rainfall is expected shortly after application. 3 TALWAT MAPP 740

COP PECIFIC INFOMATION All varieties of winter and spring oilseed rape, cauliflower, cabbage, brussels sprout, broccoli and calabrese can be treated. For use on fruit trees and shrubs, please refer to the estrictions section for details. ecommendations Winter oilseed rape Preemergence L/ha in minimum 00 L/ha water Apply preemergence before the crop seeds start to chit. Postemergence L/ha in minimum 220 L/ha water Apply postemergence once the crop has reached the fully expanded cotyledon stage with the first true leaf partly emerged. pring oilseed rape Preemergence L/ha in L/ha water Apply preemergence up until the crop seed begins to chit, this may occur within 48 hours of drilling in warm soils. Postemergence Postemergence applications should be made once crop has two fully expanded cotyledons and before 0 true leaves (BBCH9). Best control is achieved if application is made before weed emergence. Transplanted brassicas The latest time of application is 6 weeks before harvest. When treating transplants, ensure that the roots are well covered with soil and that the plants are adequately hardened off and established prior to treatment. If necessary, use irrigation to help establish the plants and raise soil moisture before treatment. Avoid spraying transplants when very warm days and cool nights are expected. Modular or blockraised transplants can be particularly sensitive to herbicide damage because they are often both soft and immature. 4 TALWAT MAPP 740
6 It is essential that the directions concerning transplants are followed in full and it is advisable to only treat a small area in the first instance. Direct drilled brassicas Postemergence L/ha in L/ha water Apply after the crops have 34 true leaves but before weed emergence. Do not treat crops within 6 weeks of harvesting. Ornamental plant production, nursery fruit trees Postemergence L/ha in L/ha water Applications should be made as weeds appear and can be made by knapsack sprayer. Treat around the base of stems. * use the higher water volume where weeds are dense. UCCEEDING COP Any crop can be following normal harvest. COP FAILUE If the crop fails for any reason ensure the ground is ploughed to a depth of cm. Autumn or Winter: only plant winter wheat (excluding durum wheat) and winter barley in the same autumn. pring: only plant brassicas, field beans, linseed, maize, oilseed rape, peas and potatoes. COMPATIBILITY Mixtures known to be incompatible include mixtures with liquid fertilisers, cycloxydim + lambdacyhalothrin and suspension fertilisers (except Omex uspension Fertiliser). MIXING AND PAYING Before spraying it is important to check all hoses, filters and nozzles, and to ensure that the sprayer is clean and correctly set to give an even application at the correct volume. Half fill the spray tank with clean water and add the required quantity of TALWAT. Top up the sprayer tank with water to the required level and agitate the mixture thoroughly before and during spraying. Do not leave tank mixes to stand in the tank. Maintain agitation at all times. Wash sprayer thoroughly immediately after use, using a suitable tank cleaner and following the sprayer cleaning guidance provided by the equipment manufacturer.
