17 Propagation Sticking: A rooting hormone powder or rooting hormone spray (A Hortus IBA Water Soluble Salts spray at ppm IBA) is recommended for uniformity of rooting. 84 and 105 trays are appropriate 7-12 days in mist house: Lantanas can be somewhat slow to root. Until roots have established, keep plants consistently misted in low amounts. Fertility and ph: ppm N Moderate EC at ms via SME ph Pinching: Pinch about 2-3 weeks after stick
18 Propagation Temperature: Soil Temperature: F (21-24 C) Air Temperature (day): F (24-27 C) Air Temperature (night): F (20-22 C) Lighting: Once roots form, supplemental light may be added on cloudy lowlight days. Shading not required during propagation Plant Growth Regulators (PGRs): Havana are naturally compact, no PGRs are recommended in the propagation phase. Timing: 4-5 weeks from stick to transplant
19 Finishing Container Size Planter Per Pot Finish Time (weeks) 4 in. (10 cm) in. (15 cm) in. (22 cm) and up Pinching: Pinch as needed to shape If not pinched during propagation, pinch weeks after transplant. Fertility and ph: ppm N Lantanas grow best when fertilized with a blend of nitrate and ammonium based fertilizers to strike a balance in leaf size, ph levels, and growth habit. Saturated media with a high salt content drastically increases plant susceptibility to fungal root rot diseases. Allow media to dry moderately between waterings and leach regularly to limit salt buildup. Another option is to limit fertilizer ppm so high EC does not occur. Moderate EC at ms via SME ph
20 Finishing Temperature: Day Temperature: F (18-23 C) Night Temperature: F (20-24 C) Cold, wet, conditions hinder growth and increase disease pressures. Lighting: 5,000-10,000 fc (53, ,700 lux) Supplemental lighting is optional during finish Does not benefit from shade during finish Once transplanted, Havana is best grown under high light and warm temperatures. Full sun outdoor production is ideal. Plant Growth Regulators (PGRs): Optional Bonzi (0.4% Paclobutrazol) at 2ppm Optional Sumagic (0.055% Uniconazole) at 10ppm Optional B-Nine (85% Daminozide) at 1,500ppm mixed with Cycocel (11.8% Chlormequat) at 1,000ppm Potential Pests and Diseases: Pythium, Rhizoctonia Aphids, Whitefly, Leafminers
