1 THE SOCIETY ACCEPTS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROPERTY OF EXHIBITORS. IN ALL CASES THE DECISION OF THE JUDGES SHALL BE CONSIDERED FINAL RULES These Rules are in accordance with those of the Australian Horticultural Judges Association Inc. 1. Any exhibit not in accordance (N.A.S.) with the Schedule must be disqualified and marked N.A.S. by the Judge. 2. Exhibitors must use containers supplied by the Society, except in Floral Art or unless otherwise stated, unless prior arrangements have been made with the Show Manager and no advantage is gained by the use of such container. 3. All exhibits (apart from Floral Art) must be grown by the exhibitor and shall have been in the possession of the exhibitor for at least three (3) months prior to this Show. 4. All exhibits of cut flowers become the property of the Show Committee (unless the Secretary is notified by the exhibitor to the contrary) and may be sold or destroyed at the close of the Show. 5. Exhibits in other classes shall be considered the property of the Committee until the close of the Show and must not be removed without the permission of the stewards. 6. Should any exhibit not be considered worthy of the prize allotted in the Schedule, the Judge shall have power to reduce the value of such prize or withhold same. 7. The Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry. 8. EXHIBITORS IN ALL CLASSES ARE REQUESTED TO NAME EXHIBITS ON THEIR ENTRY CARDS. This rule will be taken into consideration in cases of close competition. Entrants wishing to have an entry named should leave a card with Name Please on it. 9. Abbreviations: C.V.A. Colour Variation Allowed N.N.D. Not Necessarily Distinct S.S. Staged Singly. 10. Flowering Shrubs includes Trees and Climbers. 11. Own foliage permitted in all exhibits. 12. Wiring of flowers prohibited except in Floral Art. 13. A container holds any number of stems. 14. A vase consists of not more than six and not fewer than three stems. 15. Novice. Open only to those who have not won more than three first prizes or a Blue Ribbon at any Horticultural Show. 16. An exhibitor may submit any number of entries in any one Class. 4. Exhibitors must provide the Entry Secretary with the appropriate letter for the Section and number for the Class, e.g. A 5. Please make a list of your entries so that you can check them as they are read back to you. 5. NEW EXHIBITORS: If help and advice are desired when staging exhibits, please ask for a steward. First time exhibitors should mark their bench cards with N in red. CLASSIFICATION OF DAFFODILS Daffodils are classified into 13 Divisions with colour code applying to each Division Number. The first letter indicates petal (perianth) colour. Additional letter(s) indicate colour of trumpet or cup from the centre to the edge. Colours applicable to the descriptions are abbreviated as follows: Y: Yellow P: Pink W: White or Whitish O: Orange G: Green R: Red See the article in The Garden for March 2014 for details (not for loan). Copies of this article are on display in the Library SECTION K FLORAL ART All exhibits will be judged in position in accordance with the Floral Art Judges Manual. Any plant material, any type of container and any suitable accessory may be used in conjunction with flowers for the purpose of assisting artistic design. Flowers need not be grown by the exhibitor. Minimum dried/dyed/painted materials may be used with discretion, otherwise fresh flowers only. Semi-Double A flower having in excess of eight petals in two or more rows, with a conspicuous stamen cluster, with or without petaloids. Anemone Form (previously called Elegans Form) A flower having one or more outer rows of large petals, while the stamens have become almost totally petaloid and form a convex mass in the centre. E.g. Peony Form (also known as Informal Double) A flower having either of two forms as follows: (a) Loose or Incomplete Informal Double, with loosely arranged petals, usually irregular or wavy, becoming smaller to the centre where they are divided by stamens.
