24 YOUR DREAM KITCHEN IS AS EASY AS... PLAN, SELECT, CREATE, ENJOY! PLAN: TOP TIPS PLAN: CHOOSE YOUR LAYOUT Once you know how much space you have to work with, you then need to choose your layout. It may be based on the kitchen you re replacing, or it may be a totally new design. Just remember to allow enough space in between worktops to allow for opening cabinet doors and traffic in the kitchen. Wherever possible, try to incorporate the working triangle. This is the distance between your hob, fridge and sink. The most effective work spaces allow 1200mm between each of these stations and minimises movement in the kitchen. Think about what you like/dislike in your current kitchen. Think about what your kitchen will be used for (e.g. cooking and food preparation or entertaining). Consider how many people will be utilising the kitchen. For traffic areas and island worktops we recommend that you allow 1200mm from the worktop on the island to the opposite cabinet/appliance. Ensure the location of the sink bowl is centred over a suitable size cabinet. Consult your manufacturers specifications for appliances prior to installing your kitchen. Enjoy your new kitchen! WORKING TRIANGLE PLAN: MEASURING YOUR SPACE So now that you re inspired after looking through our latest kitchen ranges, it s time to start planning your own. The first step is understanding the space you have to work with, so you know how much you can fit in. Start by measuring your kitchen accurately, remembering to measure and mark. U-SHAPE The U-shape is most commonly suited to larger kitchen spaces and is the perfect layout for families who spend lots of time in the kitchen. L-SHAPE The L-shape kitchen suits open plan living areas, smaller areas and long rooms. It also enables you to move freely between the various areas within the kitchen and gives you plenty of worktop working space. a The height of the room from the floor to the ceiling/bulkhead. b The length and width of the room wall to wall and/or wall to doorways (measure to the outside of the architrave). c The height from the floor to any windows to ensure that cabinets and worktops fit. b a d e f The location of any old or new light switches or power points. To help you plan your kitchen and budget for the project, your Homebase Team Member can give you an indicative estimate of the installation cost of the product purchased. * Contracts are between customers and installers and customers pay installers directly for their work. 15 YEAR GUARANTEE Homebase guarantees that it will, at its option, repair or replace any cabinet carcass, hinges and drawers, handles, doors and panels that suffer a failure due to a defect in the materials or manufacturing process within fifteen (15) years from the date of purchase. 5 YEAR GUARANTEE Homebase guarantees that it will, at its option, repair or replace any wire baskets and inserts, waste bins and timber or laminate worktops that suffer a failure due to a defect in the materials or manufacturing process within five (5) years from the date of purchase. GENERAL TERMS FOR ALL GUARANTEES Guarantees apply only to the original purchaser for products that are used for normal domestic use. The guarantees do not apply to products used for commercial purposes such as products installed in business premises or domestic premises connected with a business premises i.e. Holiday lets. The above guarantees do not cover defects caused by, but not limited to, any of the following: accident, maltreatment, neglect, improper handling or failure to follow the supplied care directions; exposure to direct heat or excessive moisture; and alterations, modifications, repair or use of the product which is inconsistent with the supplied product instructions. Please ensure you can validate proof of purchase in the form of a receipt or other documentation received upon buying your kitchen. To make a claim under the guarantee, you will also need to provide proof that the house in which the product is installed is your primary residence (e.g. utility bills or council rate notices).
