Student inventors sponsored. 31 million skill trade positions will be left vacant by Adecco Report Spotlight On: WorldSkills Stanley Black & Decker is a proud partner of WorldSkills International. This organization emphasizes the importance of skills education and training for youth, industries and society by challenging young professionals around the world to become the best in the skill of their choice. Competitions take place around the globe in more than 75 countries in a wide range of skills and trades. Every two years, winners from these competitions gather together. In 2017, more than 1,200 young adults met in Abu Dhabi, and competed to be the very best in 51 skill competitions. The event brought people together from different backgrounds, ethnicities and genders, but with one common thread their skill. Roudha, a Chemical Engineering Student from the United Arab Emirites said before her competition, "I'm competing in refrigeration and air conditioning. Here in the UAE, for ladies, we used to have easy jobs sitting in offices and administration. But I choose to be an engineer, so that I can use my hands doing electrical installations, welding, and drilling. I m competing with 22 countries and they re all males. But females can do all male s jobs too, we only need to have the passion and to love what we are doing.

One day he fell, hitting his knee, but dismissed the pain. After several days he noticed some swelling and went to the emergency room. An x-ray revealed that his knee been fractured and caused an infection. Amputation was the only choice. In 2017, the Center for Independent Living (CIL) showed up at Samuel s home with the permits, plans and tools to build him a ramp. Volunteers worked to give Samuel access to his home again. The CIL provides critical home modifications to create an accessible and safe environment to individuals throughout Florida. He was unable to keep his job with the police department and therefore could no longer afford to live in New York. In 2015, Samuel moved to Florida to live with his mother. At 83-years old, Samuel s mother could not help him in and out of the house. Stanley Black & Decker is honored to provide the tools and materials needed to help Samuel and many other individuals with disabilities throughout the state.
