HOUSE VI HOUSE VI FORMULATION GRID TRANSLATION INTO INTERIOR SPACES Extrusions Peter Eisenman s house VI was examined in collaboration with Alex Wilton for the key organisational elements of the homes design and the resulting effects these elements created for the users. This led to an in depth look into the homes grid layout and the resulting architectural phenomena that was used by Eisenman to inscribe his design intentionality on the homes residence. Axis Nine Square Grid RESULTING DISCONTINUOUS FLOW GRID DECONSTRUCTION 1
VIEWING PLATFORM A viewing platform was designed to capture a weather phenomena and a ephemeral aspect of the Shaganappi point site location. The specific phenomenon examined were the changing of the autumn leaves from green to yellow and falling precipitation. These aspects of the site were framed by the viewing platform through the use of colour filters and illumination. DERIVING THE LOCATION Abstractions were implemented on the generated shapes using techniques utilised by Peter Eisenman, with each steps value being dictated by the annual precipitation values for the City of Calgary. C DERIVING THE LOCATION A B EXTRUDE SUBTRACT ROTATE C The location of deciduous trees was plotted on a site map to formulate site lines from three locations throughout the site. These locations were then used to create a series of shapes using a grid created by power poles that bordered the site. DUPLICATE + STACK 3 ROTATE CROP
VIEWING PLATFORM FLOOR PLAN SECTION 1 SECTION N 5 METERS 2 Illuminated glass panels create a light garden that captures precipitation as it falls past, similar to rain passing through a cars headlight. The use of a blue colour filter on the glazing on the viewing platform allows the yellow of the vegetation to stand out from the surrounding green tones. 5
DRONE HOUSE This project looks to form a relationship between a visually impaired child and the ambient noise produced by honey bees. This cross species relationship will further be explored through the use of faceted articulation influenced by a bees wing to see the potentials it has in the scope of residential architecture. FORM GENERATION TECHNIQUE A generative process was developed around a bees wing in order to formulate an adaptable technique for the creation of space BEE WING DUPLICATE STRETCH ENTITY ROTATE ENTITIES ARTICULATE SURFACES JOIN OVERLAY WING VARY WING EXTRUSIONS 7
DRONE HOUSE Aspects such as sound and light were considered in the arrangement of rooms in the home to facilitate spaces that were more considerate to the needs of a client with vision impalement. To accommodate this the majority of the rooms were located on the Northern side of the project to avoid glare and the social and private paces in the home were separated.
