4 Architectural Shapes Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) Our shapes are fabricated from virgin expanded polystyrene (EPS). For most applications, the typical density is 1 pound per cubic foot, although for some applications we may recommend a higher density. EPS is a rigid, closed cell insulation material that is white in color. EPS is non-toxic, provides Class 1 flame spread rating (25 or less) and is environmentally sound. Initially made from a petroleum byproduct, virtually all of our scrap is recycled into other post-consumer uses or back into other manufactured foam products. Coatings The application of coatings to foam is limited only to your imagination. Our standard application involves the application of a fiberglass reinforcing mesh embedded in an acrylic modified cementitious base coat. The base coat must be tailored to the end finish of the element. Some finishes require different base coats than others. We also utilize epoxy resins, urethane, paints and gypsum-based coatings to foam. Application of finish can vary from conventional stucco and EIFS finishes to faux paints, a synthetic granite look or glass mosaic tile. Fabrication & Custom Shapes This catalog is strictly a guideline. Nearly every project we undertake is custom. There is little, if any, cost impact for a custom shape or modification to a standard shape. Provide a drawing, photograph or idea and we can program the shape you desire.
