4 About Kartell Established in 1949 by Giulio Castelli, a chemical engineer who started his career producing household products of plastic, Kartell have since then been growing to become the iconic Made-in-Italy design brand. From the nineties, Kartell started their collaboration with the most renowned international designers such as Philippe Starck, Alberto Meda, Ferruccio Laviani and Patricia Urquiola. This led to numerous awards achieved over the years, the Golden Compass above all, the most prestigious recognition in the industrial design sector. Through consistent on-going research, Kartell is able to provide plastic with new properties and create appealing products which are practical, flexible and of great quality. 6 The project At the beginning of 2015, ISG was chosen as the preferred contractor for the re-style of the famous Kartell Museum in celebration of its 15th anniversary. The Museum is located in Noviglio, on the outskirts of Milan, next to Kartell's main factory and it stands out as a design landmark, being designed by the famous Italian architect Ignazio Gardella. Kartell's objective was to provide the iconic exhibition centre with a new look accurately portraying the company's entire history. The project entailed the refurbishment and fit out of the entire space, approximately 2,000 sq m, while expanding and adapting the museum's internal routes for Kartell's newly released collections to be included. Our team started on site with the strip out and removal of pre-existing partitions and shadow-boxes across different levels: ground floor, mezzanine, first and second floors. ISG continued with the construction of new plasterboard partitions, shadow-boxes and freestanding platforms and furniture. The wooden floor, covering over 1,300 sq m of the entire area, was restored through the process of sanding and smoothing the pre-existing parquet

7 The scope of works also included: The Team adaption of old display drawers lighting systems inside the new shadow-boxes all glazing and graphics installation re-painting of the overall exhibition area, including parapets Collaboration Due to the simultaneous presence on site of different specialist contractors, directly co-ordinated by our customer, the ISG team showed a collaborative approach and proved to be expert at managing interferences, without compromising on time and quality. Flexible The project also had a tight time frame but ISG overcame this by being flexible and extending working hours to nights and weekends, in order to deliver the project within the agreed due date. Absolute Completion Furthermore, ISG s innovation and efficiency when offering design solutions was a key factor in achieving Absolute Completion on the project, which was delivered on 31 March 2015, in time for Kartell's opening launch.
