2 Art-inspired community raises the bar for the next generation of Senior Living Setting the Stage Mainstreet s vision for its new flagship building in Carmel, Indiana, was to create a community that takes its industry-leading Next Generation model to the next level. The goal was not only to break the traditional Senior Living mold, but also create a contemporary feel that speaks to the art influence in the Carmel area. Lobby aptura.net 3

3 Finding a Solution Media Pod Andy Warhol Café When researching the city of Carmel, Aptura s designers discovered a strong art presence including an abundance of galleries, workshops and studios. The design concept gives a nod to the local art culture via artwork selections and bold pops of color that cultivate an art-inspired energy. Our designers were also influenced by New Urbanism an urban design movement that promotes walkable neighborhoods containing a range of housing styles and destinations. An array of destinations with varied seating types for a spectrum of acuity and mobility levels ensures everyone can find a place they feel comfortable in and enjoy. The mid-century modern façade moves seamlessly into the open design inside the Lobby, which features an abundance of natural light. Guests are welcomed by clean-lined, open architecture paired with contemporary furnishings, upholstery and finishes. This space provides the first taste of the post-modern design and vivid color choices found throughout the building. The Andy Warhol Café is a go-to hot spot featuring a pop art color palette over a neutral backdrop. Located just off the lobby, this convenient destination includes eye-catching Warhol prints and an alluring grab-and-go dining option aptura.net The Studio Artists Loft Dining Destination Rehabilitation Space The Media Pod is also located just off the lobby. A slat wall designates the space, providing a more intimate area where residents and guests can catch up on news, interact with technology or socialize. The Studio is an artist s loft-inspired dining destination with a unique installation opportunity. Here a featured grouping of artwork is fastened to the ceiling and floor for a changeable display that is still secure. Included artwork that complements the space can be easily changed out to feature local Carmel artists or resident artwork. The Pub and Salon destinations continue the theme of light wood finishes and eye-catching color pops found throughout the building. The Upstairs Lobby overlooks the main lobby, creating another welcoming gathering space with a great view. Both the Assisted Living and Transitional Care Suites are fully furnished in three different color-blocking motifs: purple, red and green. Two-tone casegoods promote an on-trend hospitality style and support the mid-century design. Assisted Living apartments feature spacious multiroom suites, while Transitional Care rooms are smaller with a focus on a post-acute, short-term stay. Ample square footage was also dedicated to Rehabilitation and Wellness Spaces. The downstairs location features rehabilitation that supports a full therapy offering, while the upstairs space promotes wellness and fitness in a classroom-style setting. 5

4 Measuring Success Salon Upstairs Lobby Transitional Care Suite Theater Mainstreet of Carmel raises the bar as a community that is perfectly positioned to support an in-demand lifestyle while providing leading-edge care to Senior Living. Its grand opening celebration was met with huge excitement for this new Next Generation property.
