1 SECTION WALL BED SYSTEMS PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 SUMMARY Section Includes: 1. Sofa- Wall Bed Combination Units. 1.3 COORDINATION Coordinate installation of anchorages for wall bed furniture. Furnish setting drawings, templates, and directions for installing anchorages, including sleeves, anchor bolts, and items with integral anchors that are to be embedded in adjacent construction. Deliver such items to Project site in time for installation. Coordinate size and location of recesses in wall construction to receive wall bed furniture. 1.4 SUBMITTALS Product Data: For each type of product. 1. Include construction details, material descriptions, dimensions of individual components and profiles, and finishes for detention furniture. Shop Drawings: For furniture. 1. Include plans, elevations, sections, and attachment details. 2. Indicate locations, dimensions, and profiles of wall and floor reinforcements. 3. Indicate locations and installation details of built-in anchors. C. Samples for Initial Selection: For all furniture choices with factory-applied color finishes or fabrics. 1.5 CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS Maintenance Data: For mattresses to include in maintenance manuals. 2 1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING Mattresses & Cushions: Deliver wrapped to provide protection during transit and Project-site storage. Protect from contact with moisture FIELD CONDITIONS Field Measurements: Verify openings for recessed furniture by field measurements before fabrication. PART 2 -PRODUCTS 2.1 SOFA- WALL BED UNITS In other Part 2 articles where titles below introduce lists, the following requirements apply for product selection: 1. Basis-of-Design Product: The design for this wall bed unit is based on the product named. Subject to compliance with requirements, provide either the named product or propose a comparable product by another manufacturer with similar size and specifications. Combination Sofa and Wall-Mounted Bed (Murphy type) Unit: 1. Basis-of-Design Product: 24/7 Eurobed Wallbed System as made by SICO America Inc.: a. SICO 24/7 Eurobed Queen with recess cabinet and Classic Style Sofa. 2. Unit Size: Provide unit that will accommodate a Queen size mattress that is at least 60" wide x 80" long. 3. Folding Function: Units shall be capable of easily folding up or down from the end or headboard side of the bed. 4. Combination Sofa Unit: When bed is folded up against the wall, it shall recess into a cabinet with sides that totally hide the bed with a fully functioning sofa. 5. Padded Headboard: Constructed from %" particle board with 24 oz. Naugahyde vinyl covering. 6. Micro-adjustable calibrated spring mechanism for precise tension adjustments located in bed frame. 7. Bed Frame: Constructed from.83 premium strength extruded aluminum. 8. Folding Leg Support: To stabilize bed in down position and secure the mattress when bed is in storage. Use%" x 18 gauge steel tubing. 9. Cabinet: Provide cabinet unit that fully encloses bed mattress and frame on top, sides and face when bed is in the stored position. C. Mattress: 1. Manufacturers standard innerspring mattress with size required. 2. General: Comply with 16 CFR 1633 and California Technical Bulletin 121 as determined by testing identical products by a testing and inspecting agency acceptable to authorities WALL BED SYSTEMS

3 having jurisdiction. Identify materials with appropriate markings of applicable testing and inspecting agency D. Finishes & Fabrics: 1. Factory Finish Steel or Aluminum: Clean, pretreat, and apply manufacturer's standard two-coat, baked-on finish consisting of prime coat and thermosetting topcoat. a. Color and Gloss: Where choices are available, color shall be as selected by Architect from manufacturer's full range. 2. Cabinet Materials: Surfaces and finishes shall be as selected by Architect from manufacturer's full range. 3. Fabrics: Selection of all fabrics and colors shall be as selected by Architect from manufacturer's full range. 2.2 FABRICATION c. D. Shop Assembly: Preassemble items in shop to greatest extent possible to minimize field splicing and assembly. Disassemble units only as necessary for shipping and handling limitations. Use connections that maintain structural value of joined pieces. Clearly mark units for reassembly and coordinated installation. Coordinate dimensions and attachment methods of furniture with those of adjoining construction to produce integrated assemblies with closely fitting joints and with edges and surfaces aligned unless otherwise indicated. Shear and punch metals cleanly and accurately. Remove burrs. Form and grind edges and corners to be free of sharp edges or rough areas. 1. Fabricate furniture with no more than 1/32-inch gap between component materials. Weld edges that cannot be crimped to meet tolerance so as to provide a seamless joint. E. Form metal in maximum lengths to minimize joints. Form bent-metal comers to smallest radius possible without causing grain separation or otherwise impairing the Work. F. Provide for anchorage of type indicated; coordinate with supporting structure. Fabricate and space anchoring devices to secure furniture rigidly in place and to support expected loads. Build in straps, plates, and brackets as needed to support and anchor fabricated items to adjoining construction. Reinforce formed-metal units as needed to attach and support other construction. G. Cut, reinforce, drill, and tap furniture as indicated to receive hardware, security fasteners, and similar items. H. Form exposed work true to line and level with accurate angles, surfaces, and straight sharp edges. WALL BED SYSTEMS

4 I. Form exposed connections with hairline joints, flush and smooth using concealed fasteners where possible. Use exposed security fasteners of type indicated or, if not indicated, flat-head (countersunk) security fasteners. Locate joints where least conspicuous. 2.3 ACCESSORIES Concealed Bolts: ASTM A 307, Grade A unless otherwise indicated. Provide all accessories, hardware and fasteners as necessary for a complete functioning product. PART 3 -EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION C. D. Examine substrates, areas, and conditions, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting performance of furniture units. Examine roughing-in for embedded and built-in anchors to verify actual locations of furniture before its installation. Verify locations of furniture with those indicated on Shop Drawings. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. 3.2 INSTALLATION C. D. E. F. Fastening to In-Place Construction: Provide anchorage devices and fasteners where necessary for securing furniture to in-place construction. Include threaded fasteners for inserts, security fasteners, and other connectors. Cutting, Fitting, and Placement: Obtain manufacturer's written approval for cutting, drilling, and fitting required for installing furniture. Set furniture accurately in location, alignment, and elevation; with edges and surfaces level, plumb, true, and free of rack; and measured from established lines and levels. Fit exposed connections accurately together to form hairline joints. Assemble furniture requiring field assembly with fasteners with provided by manufacturer. Anchor furniture to floors and walls at intervals required by expected loads, but not more than required by manufacturer. Install one mattress for each bed. Place all sofa pillows and cushions. Protect for dust, dirt and moisture before final acceptance. WALL BED SYSTEMS

5 3.3 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL Inspect installed products to verify compliance with requirements. Test functioning of units. Correct or replace any parts or components that do not operate satisfactorily. 3.4 CLEANING AND PROTECTION Touchup Painting: Cleaning and touchup painting of bolted connections and abraded areas of shop paint as necessary.
