4 Natural Environment (Biodiversity Flora/Fauna) It is important to protect the natural beauty and character of our landscape. We should protect our trees and hedgerows when considering re-development or new build sites. We should maintain the tree lined character horizon of Chacewater. It is important to protect existing wildlife, their habitats and corridors, i.e. trees, woodland, wetland, heathland and hedges. We should encourage the creation of new wildlife habitats as part of a new development, i.e. Cornish hedges, tree planting and flower rich grassland. It is important that we protect, manage, maintain and enhance our water courses, ponds and Public Rights of Way (PRoW). It is important to protect existing green and open spaces outside the immediate village perimeter, i.e. Unity Woods, Wheal Busy. It is important to protect/enhance existing green and open public spaces (referred to as the Public Realm ) for the future benefit of the community, i.e. Millennium Green, Recreation Ground and Car Park. It is important to maintain an in-date database of any Japanese Knotweed, Himalayan Balsam, Ragwort and other invasive plants/species to aid their effective control. Overuse of pesticides, fertilisers and associated practices can damage our environment comments Historic Environment (Heritage) It is important to protect/enhance our heritage, historic buildings, local landmarks, archaeological sites, mining landscape, Cornish hedges and footpaths. It is important to retain the historic character and distinct appearance at the core of Chacewater village, e.g. Fore Street and spur roads north, south, east and west. Any new development should be sympathetic in scale, design and appearance to the historic character of the village. Here is space to expand upon any of the points made above:

5 Landscape, Green & Open Spaces It is important to maintain free access to our green and open spaces, i.e.. Public Rights of Way (PRoW) and woodlands. Any new development should safeguard the distinctive urban/rural landscape character of our Parish. Any new development resulting in the loss of trees, hedges, mature gardens and green spaces should ordinarily be resisted. Sustainability Chacewater should aim to become, as far as is possible, energy self-sufficient, utilising sustainable methods of electricity generation. Chacewater Parish should, where practicable, encourage the use of wind turbines. If viable, Chacewater Parish should encourage the use of hydro-electric power. Chacewater Parish should, where practicable, encourage solar farms. Future developments should have low energy running costs. Quality of Design and Location The design of future development should protect and reflect the character of the area. Future development should not increase the risk of flooding. Future developments should be built using gaps between houses (natural infill). Future developments should be built on green open spaces. Future developments should be built using redundant agricultural and mining buildings. Future developments should be built on brown field sites. Future developments should be built on agricultural land. Future developments should provide adequate parking for the number of residents & visitors. Holiday homes and second homes are a good idea for the Parish. We should be identifying land/areas within the Parish for potential future development. Future developments should be built limited to this number of dwellings (please circle one) Other if other, please specify:

6 Affordable Housing There should be affordable housing for local residents. There should be affordable housing for rent. We should seek to provide housing through schemes like the Community Land Trust, etc. There should be areas allocated for low cost self-build houses. Type of tenure We need more housing for rent. We need more retirement or sheltered housing. We need more care homes. We need small houses for purchase (1 or 2 bed). We need large houses to purchase (3+ bed). We need flats to purchase or rent. Industry & Jobs Future houses should include space for home working. Current industrial land and buildings should be at 90% capacity before any new developments are considered. Examples of Local industrial land and buildings (which do impact on our Parish) are: Killiwherries Kea Downs Hallenbeagle Duckworths Wheal Busy Historic Buildings Cardrew Treleigh Threemilestone United Downs Mount Wellington Mine Wheal Jane Triplets Trevissome Park Cox Hill there are more! Future industrial and commercial developments should provide additional work and offer training opportunities. All future industrial and commercial developments should have a positive impact on the environment, through the use of carbon reducing technologies. Here is space to expand upon any of the points made above:

7 Public Transport Provision The bus stops are conveniently located across our Parish. Buses are available when people need them. Public transport within the Parish is affordable. Public transport within the Parish is punctual. The buses connect residents with wider community facilities. Were Chacewater Railway Station to re-open I would use it. Pedestrian & Cycle Routes We need more designated cycle routes. Cycle routes across our Parish are accessible. Were cycle routes across our Parish more accessible I would be more likely to use them. If cycle routes were safer I would be more likely to use them. We need safer walking routes within the Parish/Village. Cycle routes need to have better links with neighbouring communities. Parking Management Parking facilities across our Parish are adequate. It is easy to tell where you can park. Secure parking facilities for bicycles and motorcycles is adequate, e.g. Bike Racks. Road Safety Walking around the Parish is usually safe. The volume(s) of traffic across the Parish is at an acceptable level. The speed of traffic in and around the Parish is acceptable. The movement of traffic within the Parish needs better management.

8 Community Health & Well-being There are adequate green spaces for recreational gardening, food production and social contact. Roads need to be kept clear, and in good order. Footpaths need to be kept clear, and in good order. There are adequate cultural facilities for residents across our Parish. The play facilities for our young people are adequate. Local amenities are well-used for community activities (regular and one-off events). I consider my wellbeing to be generally high. Access to Parish services for those with Disability(s) or in poor health are well considered? Flood waters do have or have the potential to impact on my property and my way of life.
