28 Sampson Way Project Sampson Way Improvement Project Alternative 1 EIR Project Representative Comments Responses Resolution This alternative, particularly the Intersection at 7 th Street, is not pedestrian friendly Maximizes traffic flow, best vehicle flow, space between streets is ugly Address access to the waterfront after crossing the street at the 7 th Street intersection Should include wide sidewalks Make sure the Promenade is continuous Maintain a walkway along the waterfront Parking garages should have Greenspace and walkways on top If signal timing is correct it shouldn t be a problem for pedestrians Provides direct access to Miner for truck traffic Best for truck traffic and access to new cruise ship terminal Do not want trucks on Sampson Way The final design will include clear pedestrian access to and from the waterfront Traffic data from EIR will be reviewed to determine adequacy of design to handle future traffic projections, final design will consider themes established in the Downtown Harbor Study for open spaces The final design will include clear pedestrian access to and from the waterfront Sidewalks will be user friendly, but will need to fit within existing Right of Way The promenade will be continuous The promenade, walkway and bike lanes will be continuous from Swinford to 22 nd Street The EIR calls for solar panels and landscaping on the parking garages, the final design will consider both Correct, signal timing will be adjusted so pedestrians have plenty of time to cross the street Truck access will be reviewed and addressed in all alternatives Truck access will be reviewed and addressed in all alternatives Truck access will be reviewed and addressed in all alternatives The Port will carry this alternative forward in study The Port will evaluate shifting alignment to the east (closer to the waterfront) The Port will also evaluate a roundabout at the 7th Street Intersection location
