4 Central Avenue 2005 Following a presentation by Gail Boorman and discussion of the issue the CRA took the following action 4
5 Central Avenue 2005 MOTION by Barnett to APPROVE the Starbucks Coffee Shop parking arrangement in the Central Avenue Streetscape (US 41 to Tenth Street Owner Plan View); proceeding with the angled parking on the north side of Central Avenue midblock in front of the Dan Summers building, according to the CRAAB recommended alternate design plan while omitting placement of a center tree in front of the Dan Summers building for the purpose of parking retention. This motion was seconded by Taylor and carried 5-2 (Barnett-yes, Nocera-yes, Price-no, Sorey-no, Taylor-yes, Wiseman-yes, MacIlvaine-yes). 5

9 Design Goals Create a high quality street environment Create signature identity for downtown district Traffic calming, resolve conflicts Organize vehicular and pedestrian spaces in a consistent and coherent manner Provide on street parking Create an inviting pedestrian environment Soften appearance of existing utilities Find ways to incorporate canopy trees Provide amenities that complement existing buildings and land uses Provide amenities to complement and enhance the goals of the CRA plan 9
