South Mooresville Focus Area Workshop Overview, Themes, and Discussion Leigh Anne King delivered a presentation to the team summarizing the themes from public input received as a part of the South Mooresville Focus Area Workshop, explaining the planning objectives and vision maps developed in four groups at the event. A South Mooresville Focus Area Workshop Summary report will be available online soon on Team members discussed the consolidated maps and provided additional thoughts on the area. Notes on Focus Area Change in recruiting strategy could lead to firms like Lowe s opening up their campuses Consult with Kannapolis about watershed development limits Consult with Town Parks and Recreation Department The North-South Parkway situation is evolving and may be implemented as improvements to existing roads instead of one major new or improved alignment. Explore flexibility in designating nodes. 2. Big Ideas and Next Steps for Public Engagement Discussion Leigh Anne King delivered a presentation to the team on key big ideas that arose from all the public events to date. Team members discussed additional concerns they noted in the public feedback.

2 3. Next Steps The OneMooresville Technical Team will meet next on March 11 to discuss the first module of the draft plan. The entire plan draft will be split into three modules for review at the next three meetings. There is no February meeting. Please Mark Your Calendars! 13 Key Themes Planning Objectives All groups embraced growth in the focus area Planned growth is preferred More opportunities for live, work, play options and creating complete communities that offer a variety of uses (nodal supported) Smarter growth that aligns infrastructure investment with new development coming online Better connections and access are needed Green network connecting new destinations and neighborhoods (parks, greenways, multiuse paths) Design is important and should be a focus for investment

16 Key Themes Vision Maps Mix of commonly held and unique ideas Density/intensity transition: higher in west to lower in east; also transition south of E-W connector to lower density to align with Davidson Mix of centers: several mixed-use centers in the west identified; neighborhood centers in the central area and rural centers to the south / east Greenway connections make use of floodplains, major roads, and new connectors linking neighborhoods to destinations and creating a green framework Embraced the N-S and E-W connector Some identified intermodal transportation hubs in the west
