Pleased to have met you As part of the Expedite programme at Oerol this year.
We were delighted to welcome you to the Wayfaring installation as part of the Expedite programme at Oerol this year. You came at the start of the installation and over the course of the week; the piece grew with contributions from over a thousand audience members a day. The installation was always live to the local conditions, whether it was the winds blowing in off the sea, or the many high tides that repeatedly swept water across the whole site. Audience members were invited to bring and leave a contribution. As well as many thousands of words, some very special objects were brought to the island such as a wedding dress from a man whose wife had recently died, a pair of well travelled much loved deck shoes and a collection of homemade wooden whistles. Many of the hundreds of Terschelling school children who had worked with Dutch artists, Frederik & Ebbinge had the chance to visit the whole installation to see their work in the larger context. Thousands more attended the resolution of the installation, which was the closing event of the festival, for a memorable and moving finale to Oerol 2018.

Wayfaring Audience Member, Inside Out Dorset Festival 2016 Credit: Wayfaring, Wells. Original Art Works by And Now:. Photo by Nick Read. We were mesmerised and bewitched by this event.. I found some of it very thought-provoking, and some of it made me ponder my ancestors, who lived far more connected to the land than us; some of it brought up strong emotions, but none of them were negative. It was lovely beyond my anticipation.
And AND Now: NOW: are ARE Ben BEN Rigby RIGBY and AND Mandy MANDY Dike. DIKE. We conceive, design and create visual performance, image and installations; working with people, ideas, fire, fireworks, structures, sound and light, to make work that is unexpected, accessible, entertaining and public. speak of the opportunities and tensions present today. Using local, found and travelled materials in each location, And Now: craft an installation that audiences can move through, investigate and contribute to. On the final evening, fire, music and performance transform the installation into an intimate fleeting celebration. Wayfaring is part of national strategic project Life Cycles and Landscapes; further information and project partners can be found by following this link: Life Cycles and Landscapes. Produced by Activate Performing Arts. The final wayfaring event this year will be at Inside Out Dorset 15th-22nd September WAYFARING... STEP INTO THE UNKNOWN Wayfaring is an ongoing journey of exploration, initially inspired by the chalk landscape and ancient routes of the Icknield Way, created by And Now: Wayfaring has taken place at a series of locations, each within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the sites Wayfaring is an Arts Council England Ambition for Excellence project, Co-commissioned by Oerol Festival, Corn Exchange Newbury, 101 Outdoor Arts Creation Space and Norfolk & Norwich Festival and is further supported by Landscapes for Life the National Association of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Follow the Life Cycles and Landscapes link to see specific site partners and supporters.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT US We choreograph and animate with fireworks and fire to create emotional, transformative, visual narrative. Make durational installations consonant with their physical and cultural landscape. Develop, design and make theatrical performance, events and happenings; independently or in collaboration. OUTREACH And Now: are happy to undertake creative engagement work with communities local to a performance. Credit: Original Art Works by And Now:. Photo by Mandy Dike. Even though we know [the land] very well, it made me even more aware of the Landscape. We look, but we don t always see. Wayfaring Audience Member, Norfolk & Norwich Festival
