1 Two Things... that you love about the City of North Vancouver The City nature Lots of good forests to walk in Safe and friendly Proximity of the City to nature and the good community of people Close to Grouse Mountain and lots of cranes Friendly place Close to the ocean and family close by Support for urban gardens and parks and green space Feeling of community and greenery Access to public parks and public transit Nature and garbage (collection?) Trees and animals Playgrounds and night market The working waterfront and mature neighborhoods All of the playgrounds and the library Safety, trails and outdoors Trees, food and freeness Freeness We have bicycle lanes and lots of good restaurants Friendly schools and like the snow Schools and banks Nature and orderly garbage collection The Harbour and restaurants Plants that line the sidewalks and the restaurants Mountains and the waterfront Like the hiking and the trails We can walk everywhere and the diversity The Library Plaza Respectful and everything is organized - the streets, buildings, playgrounds etc. Limited growth space and small town feel Parties and the farmer s market Love Slide the City The North Vancouver waterfront dog park and community minded people Beautiful outdoor things The Mayor and the Shipbuilder s Square The schools Accessibility to the outdoors, architectural diversity and density occurring right now, community involvement, facilities for youth and dog parks Waterfront and Grand Boulevard trees 1

2 The ocean and the mountains Great library The ocean, the trees, the mountains and the people A lot of opportunity to do something different every day It s beauty and the small friendly feeling of the people that live here Single family homes and green spaces A wonderful City Council and low taxes Peaceful and lots of parks for kids Classy City Hall and the environment Mountains and hiking trails and transport Single family homes and traffic Good access to hiking trails and green space North Van is peaceful We love the farmer s market and the parks Mahon park especially Natural resources the forest and the beaches Family friendly and attention to the arts Trees, landscape, beaches and the weather Gardens and urban farms everywhere The Shipyards (nights), the Pier and the diversity of the North Shore Community gardens and recycling program Skiing, biking paths and shopping areas Cosmopolitan and multi-ethnic atmosphere of Lonsdale and views of the City The new trail to Lonsdale and the green-ness Flowers and views I love the SeaBus and easy access to mountains The beauty and the nature Nature and trees Grouse mountain and hiking The fantastic view of the mountains, the great views of Vancouver lights at night and Lion s Gate Bridge lights The wonderful library and view across to Vancouver Schools and nature Library and schools Recycling (program) Public parks and exciting waterfront spirit trail Accessibility to walking, and good social connections more transparent Pick up garbage and water Schools and it s beautiful Community gardens that are cropping up and natural beauty with access to places like Deep Cove, Grouse Mountain 2

3 I like the way we historically took care of our most vulnerable residents and hope we find our way back to the principles that made us great. The mountains City museum and good transit Nature and walking trails Places to go, lots to do, the people and the loyalty Progressive city planning and accessibility of amenities Community events, for example Friday Night Markets Library and parks Public parks and Waterfront Park Volleyball courts in Lower Lonsdale and. the volleyball courts! We love Mayor Mussatto Gerry s garden and Library Square best public spaces Our wonderful library and our super Civic Plaza / people place That North Van feels like a small city and the community The night market, the new City Hall and the Mayor, Council and staff Spirit Trail and the Summer Sessions The people and lots of free events Multicultural and NSMS (North Shore Multicultural Society) Seymour Demonstration Forest and the libraries The ocean, the trees and dog trails We just moved here it is safe and quiet (at night) your challenge is to maintain it! The new Ferris wheel and mountain hiking and biking trails Friday Night Market and the Green Necklace The Mayor and the people The Mayor and all the activities Friday Night Market The natural green spaces and forests in the City and the Waterfront Cycle paths improving Village-like feeling in an urban community and being surrounded by mountains, trails & water Safe community with little crime comparatively and lots of activities all the time variety. Shadows and playing dodge the sandwich boards on Lonsdale Keeping Green space and single family neighbourhoods Lonsdale Quay and Victoria Park Library and shops on Lonsdale The walking space at the Pier (beautiful) and the Council good work! Green neighbourhoods keep them that way. It s fun and crazy City Hall public art and bike paths Community gardens and diversity on Lonsdale Ocean views, diversity and community feeling of all including our First Nations neighbours 3

4 Honesty in our City Council The Library and green spaces Low density in the single family neighbourhoods - don't take it all away from us! - and all the green spaces with parks for kids to play. Ever-increasing walkability and bikeability for shops and errands and parks Big City, Small Village Safety and Sense of Community (friendly) Library & people Annie Dempster! The Shipyard Market Fridays and the great parks in the City Efficient Operations and low taxes The sights and the fact that everything is close and in walking distance! Love safety, mountains and ocean close by Room to move around and cleanliness I love the nature Community facilities and the people and views Music at the Shipyards and being able to walk right to and by the ocean Bike lanes and community gardens Having lived her for +46 years, it s so great to come back to visit! We love Mayor Mussatto and we love Mayor Mussatto No parking meters and low taxes on my house Parks and pools The views and the library Efficient use of taxes, public spaces and free events Cultural diversity and cleanliness Proximity to mountains Parks and recreation That the City is separate from the District and the City amenities The firefighters and 1 st responders prompt and caring approach Easy access to green space and nature and proximity to city amenities I can walk anywhere! Don t need to cross bridges to get to work live and work on the North Shore City hall is convenient to get to, beautiful and very polite staff Love the nature and community programs Library and bike lanes Single family homes and mature trees It s a nice place to live (Aengus - age 4) Access to City staff can questions, comments, problems to staff and they will get back to you! Public Art, pedestrian pathways, the library and friendly polite people! Sports facilities and nature The Gull and the Finch The view of the mountains I can hardly see anymore too many apartments 4

5 We love the loud fire truck sirens! 60% increase going to fender benders. Geez Quayside and the library Nature and gardens and library Piano in the Plaza! Bike lanes and 80 restaurant RCMP and Fire The people and the environment i.e. the mountains and the parks The freedom, creativity and love (please help with the garbage and the traffic) Ava, age 7 Library, the community and Rebecca in Community Development Awesome community atmosphere and the Cities engagement of the residents with all projects The nice people and Lynn Canyon Haida Siegmann (Captain FPO Fire Depts.) and Kathy Martinek, Business License Inspector. Both pleasures to deal with. Thanks for your hard work. Diversity, the engagement of people and friendliness The walking/hiking trails and we still have a community feel. We need to keep that A four seasons playground Great people working at the City of North Vancouver thank you very much Sandra! Lots of trees and parkers and scenic views of the Vancouver city The ocean is everywhere Great fire department and community departments The sights and the fact everything is so close and in walking distance Library plaza and Mahon water park Peace and quiet and the Arts Free parking and the mountains Clara Free public events and music, arts and First Nations Diversity, people engagement, arts and friendliness Parks and schools Love the art walk down Lonsdale (we are doing this today August 17) and love the variety stores, shops, restaurants, food, people The Library and geothermal heating commitment to green living Green spaces and Canada Trail (our section) Like 90% of the notes say, I love the nature. We should do everything to protect it. Parks and pools Sophie, Age 6 Community facilities, the people and the views Being able to walk to stores and density I love that I can go up the mountains behind me or go to the seashore in front of me and I love that it is young and green Brennan, planning technician is understanding, professional, patient, accommodating and clean Off leash dog parks Accessibility to the outdoors, architectural diversity and density occurring, community involvement, facilities for youth and dog parks! 5

6 The green spaces and beautiful landscaping the increased traffic is tragic. Parks and farmer s market More legal suites in Central North Van so we can stay in and North Van Schools Friendly place, improve lawn bowling club Everyone is so beautiful and like lakes, oceans and mountains The sun when it shines and the proximity of the ocean and it s so close to the mountains Access to wilderness, green space, diversity and sense of community The nice people and the forests - Michelle I love living in Lower Lonsdale because I can walk to everything, and I love Jack Loucks Court - Toni 6
