NAME : HARRY BANIASADIPOUR ARCHITECTURE #
Rationale I have completed my diploma in Design and Architecture at the University of Technology Sydney (Insearch). I am a mature student as, prior to emigrating, I completed two semesters of the Bachelor Degree in Architecture at Tehran University in Iran. I get a real thrill studying architecture, which is why I started a degree course in Architecture. I have a keen eye for design and am exceptionally creative. I have my own website which contains my portfolios and showcases some of the works and projects I have been involved in. In my diploma, I studied Design Studio, Academic and Design Communication, and Architectural History and Theory, Spatial Design, Design inquiry, Modernism History and Design Project. - Design Studio subject: I explored the elements and principles of design in different buildings. I also learned how to make models with innovative methods such as collage, mono printing, 2D and 3D models. - Architectural history and theory: I learnt about some theories related to the architectural buildings along with the history of different buildings. - Design Project: From this project I have learned the most important thing which have to be considered in any building FUNCTIONALITY. The functions in the house which means how the spaces can be connected based on the structure, where are the used spaces and the circulation will be based on the functions. You have to consider all the possibilities and all the time ask yourself WHY?. I found that this is a magical step towards solving design problems, how the function meets the client requirments. - Academic and Design Communication: I managed a group of designers in order to design a holiday house on the mountain by considering three multifunctional lenses. You can find more information about our design on my web folio on my website. - Spatial Design: I have designed a new space in the University of Technology (Business School). I have done some research about the body proportion and how body can be effective on space. - Design Inquiry: I have designed an archive box and my own logo for design proposal and I have made a video related to fix an issue for the mailbox to avoid letters to get wet.
A. Project Name: THE COTTAGE DESCRIPTION: I have designed a new house in an existing site in Pennant Hills. I have done some investigations related to the site (Pennant Hills Location). One of the obvious things you may realize when you go to this suburb is the bushes. There are many trees and gardens all around this suburb. I looked at some of the houses in this suburb also in surrounding suburbs such as Beecroft, Thornleigh, Wahroonga and Hornsby in Sydney. Then I realized that most of them are actually compatible to their site locations and the environment. Most of them have been constructed by timber. I can say timber is one of the best and most suitable material for the houses in the bushes. It brings naturalness also it s warm and easily matches with the environment and easy to work with. The existing house has got many design problems and does not have any big spaces such as a big living room, lounge area and kitchen. The house constructed by a very complex design. So, I am going to knock down the whole house and design a new cottage in the existing site. Some of my ideas originated from the following houses: - GLASS WALLS: Villa Savoye by Le Corbusier GARDEN: Villa Savoye by Le Corbusier COTTAGE House: Farnsworth House by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe AXONOMETRIC Drawn in scale but reduced to an image. Scale 1:100 The site is located in Pennant Hills, Sydney, Australia. I am going to live in the cottage that I really love. The cottage will be more enjoyable for me by creating new outdoor spaces such as a pool, BBQ area and a roof garden. I don t really like to live in a big house, because I don t feel safe and secure. I would prefer to live in a smaller space which is more secure in a bound space rather than an unbound space. I would love to live in a cottage and have more enjoyable times by swimming, barbequing and plantings in the garden. The final design will be like a cottage with a pool, BBQ area and a garden along with two outdoor spaces such as the open courtyard at the front and a patio at the back. FLOOR PLAN Drawn in scale but reduced to an image. Scale 1:100

B. Project Name: Multifunctional Pavilion PROJECT DESCRIPTION: I have done site investigation for a project of creating a new space in the University of Technology Sydney (Business School). I have decided to create a Multifunctional Pavilion in the building which I found the best location to put the pavilion in order to get the most interaction of the people who passed the building. All Drawn in scale but reduced to an image. Scale 1:200 SECTION A FINAL DESIGN FINAL FLOOR PLAN This is the first location just to investigate the posibilities and the circulations around the pavilion. Finally I have found the best location for the pavilion after the site investigation. SECTION B The best location to put the pavilion. The red area represent the investigation area to put the Pavilion. As you can see in front of the location there is a open space also the street is wide enough and is only for walkways. People can go through the building from the pavilion from west and east.
B. Project Name: Multifunctional Pavilion Site investigation
C. Project Name: Spatial iterations DESCRIPTION: Axonometric special iteration: Ability to think abstractly about the body, movements and ritual can reconfigure the space. All drawn in scale but reduced to an image. Scale 1:20
D. Project Name: PLAN ORGANISATION DESCRIPTION: Villa sayoye was commissioned Savoye family to Le Corbusier as a country retreatfloor. As the functionality purposes, the spaces in this building nicely designed as there is no waste space in between the used spaces. The circulation in this building is very nice as you have an easy access to all parts of the house. Especially from the living room to the courtyard with a nice glass door which makes it possible to see through and reaching the roof garden by stairs which is located in the courtyard is clever without wasting any useful space. There is a beautiful entrance from the ground floor and located in the centre as well as can be identified as the core of the building. Besides, the columns help to hold the building up. The continue line represents the symmetry. The cutline shows the balance. Name of Architect: Le Corbusier Location of Building: Yvelines, France Date of construction: 1931 Recognised style of building: Modernism This diagram represents the structural elements of the building such as columns and load bearing walls. The structure of this house was unique for building of this era to show the pillars and be raised up from the ground. This diagram shows the public and private areas in the middle floor. As you can see, the public areas in this floor are more than the private areas which is a good point. Because, the courtyard or patio occupied the most space of this floor. So, the spaces around that will be used as public areas. This diagram is the middle floor of Villa Savoye. It represents the natural lights enters the building. The yellow arrows represent the daylight and the red arrows represent direct sunlight. Le corbusier knew how to design the building in order to bring the natural lights inside efficitevly. This diagram represents the parti in the middle floor. This is a graphical representation of circulation in the middle floor of Villa Savoye. The blue colour represents the closed areas. The green hatched zone represents free open areas. The black colour represents the most and main circulations in this floor through the stairs and ramp.
E. Project Name: Spatial Organisation Outcomes Understand and analyse the city as the main product of architecture through effective use of models of research THE ACTUAL BUILDING THE ACTUAL BUILDING Project Statement Students will wander around spatial formations in the city looking at the architectonic language of buildings and then construct a model as a portrait of a building near UTS. To construct this model students must use the techniques and strategies of their chosen precedent architects. There needs to be evidence of testing both material and forms evidenced. The model you propose should be evidence of the ideas of the chosen precedent architect, their spatial language and strategies as well as their ideas about the city Discription This project will focus on spatial organizations as a representation technique and a technique to explore architectural thinking. This is how we design through iterative models. Material, formal, atmospheric experimentation is first tested at smaller scale THE FINAL MODEL In order to make this model, I used the materials such as balsa woods for columns, white board, black board and white cards Reference I used the slabs and columns as technique and I used OMA - Jussieu Libraries Wood Model as my reference
Dear Sir or Madam I get a real thrill studying architecture, which is why I started a degree course in Architecture. I have a keen eye for design and am exceptionally creative. I have my own website which contains my portfolios and showcases some of the works and projects I have been involved in. Whilst studying, I have been working in order to help fund my degree. My jobs have included painting and being a hairdresser, all of which have involved dealing with customers and in some cases, very demanding ones. The work, particularly as a hairdresser has meant that I have developed strong communication skills, listening skills and an ability to meet the customer requirements in a short timeframe. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours faithfully, Harry Baniasadipour
